I renewed my driver's license two days prior to renting the vehicle. The State of IL provided a paper copy of my new license which is to be used as my license until I receive my permanent license. Your customer service rep said I had to provide a picture of my old license - that the paper license was not enough. My old license was not on me and I had to drive 30 mins to go get it - this policy makes no sense and was a major inconvenience. Additionally the customer service rep was not helpful or cordial, instead just telling me “it's our policy”. I likely will not return to Uhaul after this experience.

The flat tire light was on when we picked up the truck. The attendant said don't worry about it. Like wtf. How would we know if any other problem existed with that message being shown. Also zero windshield washer solution when we picked up the truck and drive away.

When we arrived, no one was there to help us and it wouldn't let us do pick up through mobile phone. We tried calling them 3 times. The guy called me back finally and was extremely rude saying they don't even open until 9 (they called two days before to confirm 8 am) and said whoever I talked to lied to me because he wasn't even sure if he had a truck for me. We had to wait around until 9 to MAYBE get a truck even though they had them out in the front. Extremely disorganized and unreliable for a move that needed to be completed.

Rented one size and the person working the desk confirmed it. Gave me what trailer number to go grab with the other employee outside and turned out to be a smaller one. Would have been nice to be told I was getting a smaller one since that's all that was available. Ended up having to leave items behind due to being short in space. Other than that no issues.

Tedd needs to learn how to talk to people. He's very rude and doesn't explain anything fully. I've rented from this location at least 4 times over the years and he's always been this way. He will not be getting my business anymore. He's had many chances.

Attitude employee was literally shitty. The place closes at 11:00. My pickup time was 10:30. I was called by the employee to see if I can pick the truck up before 10:00 because he wanted to leave early. I told him that I was driving in from out of town so that would be impossible. He was not happy. I called and got someone to pick the truck up for me. I was told the the employee was rude. Overall I was not ok with my experience with this location.

The whole "no touch" policy doesn't work for me. I have never driven a trailer in my life, never had any hitching experience. And to have the guy tell me we can't give you a screwdriver to see if the hitch will work is bullshit. I came a day earlier to ensure all would fit and because he wouldn't even give me a screwdriver to open my hitch area was beyond bullshit. I get the liability crap, and purchased the insurance but this no touch thing ain't a business model that will work. next time I'll try Home depot or Lowes.

The truck we rented was in poor maintenance condition. The alignment was significantly off and we had to pull the wheel far from center to keep in the street lines.

Planning a move takes a lot of planning. We arranged for a sitter and got to our site pick up. After 15 minutes of phone calls- U-Haul sends me 15 minutes away to another location. Once we get to the new pick up site- all of a sudden I wasn't bc approved. This company claims everything is easy and convenient but the truth is- it was difficult and frustrating. Don't bother calling customer service because no one ever answers.

The person that wrote up my rental was very rude and never went over any paperwork with me and never even gave me paperwork and never walked me around the truck. They just sent my paperwork to my email. The truck was dirty and only had a half tank of gas, not to mention that it had no gas cap. They later charged me for two gallons of gas over and above the three gallons that I had already put in. This guy needs his license revoked.

The office to this location is not inviting, as there were no windows and not a real clear direction to the office. Once entering, the attendant was very short, and did not step to counter to greet or interact with me. Just told me to drop the key and that was it. I was then charged a 25 $ cleaning fee b/c he had to remove the blankets that I rented from Uhaul from the bed of the truck. There was no phone call or follow up, just received the receipt for the charge. It seems to be an easy way for this location to just tack on charges when they feel like it. Very Disappointing and frustrating to spend 500$ with a company for them to turn around and then tack on another 25$.

Ted did contact me before the rental and stated that there would be a utility dolly in the truck. There was no dolly in the truck. I did find a dolly by the entrance to the shop, so I brought it over to the truck and and loaded it myself. My biggest complaint is that the truck HAD NO AIR CONDITIONING. The heat index for the 2 days was over 100 degrees so keeping the windows open was not much help. I would either a) like something taken off my bill for the lack of air conditioning, or b) be given a discount on my next rental from U-Haul. Thanks. Mark Walkowski

Well this guy Tedd at the new lenox il location quoted me a price match because he didn't have the equipment that I needed there for he canceled my reservation at another location and when I picked up his equipment he changed the verbal quote on me he's an absolute piece of work and was warned about him so now I was stuck paying his bullshit price

When I picked up my truck from Tedds Custom Installation, I was expecting to have 6 furniture pads and 1 appliance dolly in the truck. None of those items were in the truck. The appliance dolly was padlocked to the front of the building. Nobody was there to assist. Per U-Haul, I had to visit DBA Star Spangled Sales in Mokena to pickup the furniture pads. I called the next morning and spoke with Bob at Tedds Custom Installation. I told him to just remove the charge for the appliance dolly from the invoice. He said he would. I received an invoice 2 days later after dropping off the truck and the appliance dolly charge is still present. Why is this so difficult.......... I would rent from DBA Star Spangled Sales in the future. I would not use Tedds Custom Installation.

I am a life time Uhaul guy. Extremely disappointed that I reserved a '15 foot truck 2 months in advance and was downsized to a '10 foot. It was not pick-up locations fault. I received a call from a Uhaul representative the day before. My pick-up location was changed - no big deal - my size was changed without telling me. Paid $400 and was not able to take entire load due to the down size. Completely frustrated. I have a big move coming up in a month - thinking of going with a different rental company.

The truck was not checked back in by the previous user on time by the company, so I had to wait almost an hour past my pick up time to actually get the truck. When you are on a schedule, that creates a big issue. I would not recommend this particular company for renting of a truck for anyone out there. Tried calling U-Haul 1-800 number, sat on hold for almost an hour, never got an answer.

Poor customer service all around. Was not friendly towards me at all. I have rented from several uhaul locations in the past and have never been asked for an alternate phone number nor contact person. The man looked at me as if I was not going to bring the van back. He clearly did not want my business but I needed this van to move my daughter to her dorm. Also, I tried to inform the guy behind they desk that a low tire sensor was on, he took a deep breathe then responded “did it look low?” He then finally proceeded outside to see that it was low and just stood there. I politely said “ from past experience with rentals I do not feel comfortable taking this vehicle if the tire remained low.” He reluctantly filled the tire just enough to say he tried. Needless to say the light stayed on but I just wanted to get out of there as fast as I could. I will never rent from the New Lenox location again.

I could not fill the truck with gas, upon return the truck was chugging at every stop. I returned it to the shop with 3/4 full of gas, rather than being broke down. I left a message at 12:30, it's now 7:30 and no return call.

Actually adhere to the dates of rental that I requested when I submitted my reservation. I reserved the trailer starting on a Monday and then found out the day before it wasn't available until Tuesday. When I called to inquire, they offered no additional help or other options.

I blew it out with a leaf blower and it was cleaner than I got it but I was still charged $25 for cleaning. The roof leaked and my couch got wet and 2 light fixtures ruined. I dropped it off at 2pm the day BEFORE it was due back, and got charged $20 for "after hours" . Google lists their hours as "open 24 hours" so one would think 2pm is during hours and not be charged.

When a customer makes a reservation, and you say it's at a different location, but then you change your mind again & save the reservation at a different location- tell the customer. And don't just cover the mileage (& barely cover the gas) when it's not even the customers fault that they now have to drive over 50 miles total just to pick up their truck from a completely new location & waste so much more time- for a problem that was because of u-haul's problem. Don't make the customer call customer service & be on hold for 1.5 hour before they can finally get a hold of someone who can compensate the customer somehow (which should have initially been done)!

Ted was the biggest asshole. He called me up screaming at me telling me I stole his trailer and he was calling the police.. I filled out rental form online and paid for it… he had my phone number and name to call me up and yell. He then charged me the extra insurance, without my permission.

I rented a cargo trailer, expecting everything to stay dry, since I was moving a 1 bedroom apartment from N.J. to IL. Well this trailer leaked badly. Our stuff got wet, I do have pictures of the water running and dripping inside the trailer the floor of the trailer was soaked. I feel I should receive some kind of credit for this inconvenience.
