Representative scammed me. Said i went 70 miles when I live 3 miles away. Worst experience I've ever had.

DEREK RKirk and Daniel have excellent customer service. Kirk was enthusiastic about the pickup truck I rented, which helped me be excited for the move. Daniel was patient and excellent at communication when I needed to return it. I would recommend this location to anyone needing to rent a truck or vehicle for moving!

Zane MI was charged for SafeMove insurance despite explicitly declining it when making my reservation. I've had to call U-Haul representatives multiple times to get this refunded. They claimed a "field supervisor/manager" would call me, but no one ever reached out. I had to call again on July 9, 2024, and was told by the rep that the "field supervisor/manager" refunded the insurance and emailed me. I never received any such email. This is outrageous! What a scam! If I had any other option, I would never use U-Haul again.

The app doesn't like to be change from portrait to landscape. when you go back to portrait (regular phone use), app was crashing and kick you out, and validate the parameters with the change to adjust them. happen when picking up and dropping off. as I say, this gentleman was helpful and reassure me all is well. very professional.

Danielle HCab was dirty had chips and debris under the seats, and there was no car dolly available anywhere. I was never shown the pricing breakdown or how the price was changed after removing the dolly and my rate went up from 290 after tax to above $300 even though I opted out of the dolly option. I think there should be a screen visible to customers to ensure there's no funny business of them adding higher "use tax" on it without clarification. Also why allow for the options of selecting unavailable items. Lastly there was a drop off location 3 minutes from my house but I was forced to pay for extra mileage to go to the next city over and drop off. 17120 Rd 26 Ste 1, Madera, CA 93638
Adrian GI moved 3 miles away and did 3 loads, then returned. I was charged for 30+ miles. I received it with half a tank and returned it with a quarter left. I was charged $200. 3 miles i moved, didn't use much gas.

The latch on the rolling door at the back of the truck would stick and needs repair. Both of the representatives I dealt with were friendly and professional.
Robert CCompletely dissatisfied with instructions to obtain vehicle key. Paid for a dolly. No dolly. Was trying to reach someone at 10pm due to incorrect instructions to access the van. Took nearly an hour to get into van after call back. Van had a flat tire. Took 1-1/2 to resolve. Almost missed the timeframe to reach venue. I rented this van to carry my inventory to a craft show. VERY stressful.

milagro cThe attending manager is an EXCELLENT representative for U-Haul. The service he gives alone speaks volumes and would bring in Customers. Every U-Haul employee we spoke to over the phone COULD NOT CARE LESS and you could hear it. Your guy in charge at the location should be training customer service.

margorie hThe truck was a piece of crap, 180,000 plus obviously HARD miles, massive air leak top front of driver's door, front end shook over 50 mph, loud and terrible ride. I was just using locally for one day or I would have returned it.
Ken PProcess is great, esspecially app. Vehicle was in terrible condition, dirty and no fuel. I took pictures and added notes in the app. This took some time for me. If the vehicle was in clean condition and there was fuel then it would be much more smooth experience.

This rep confirmed at the counter that I filled up enough and then he charged for 3GL. Very upsetting. He did not even come out to see the actual meter. I will never go back to this location.
Sachiko CI reserved a truck, furniture blankets and a dolly but only the truck was available when picked up. I asked the gentleman at the business and he said u-haul should have included them and it's out of his control. I was charged for the items reserved despite this. Terrible experience.

LaMarchie SA TERRIBLE experience!!!! I arrived to the location at 9:30 which was my pickup time and I had rented the truck out for 4 hours. The truck that was given to me was below E and had no gas in it. When I told the manager about the matter he told me to go buy a gallon of gas from the gas station as opposed to offering to get it himself. I purchased the gas and returned to the location. After I filled the truck with a gallon of gas we then asked him to remove the lock in the back. The manager then told us that he did not have the key to unlock the back of the truck which rendered it useless to us. By this time about an hour has passed and I was already being charged for my time since it was for 9:30-1:30. We then we're offered another truck and when he started the truck it was also on empty. This time I was not willing to pay for another gallon of gas so the manager called someone who brought it to us. It was not until then that we were on our way to use the truck and move. Upon returning the truck the manager did not check in the truck and I found this out because I had called customer service. After they contacted him it was turned in. Apparently there are homeless people stealing gas from these trucks at night and uhaul is doing nothing about it. Such a horrible experience.
Shayan SThe starting mileage was incorrect. I took a photo of the odometer prior to leaving the lot. When I rec'd the final invoice I was charged for 69 miles ... 47 miles more than I had driven.
Jessica CWe had a reservation at a precious location. There was no one there. We called the regional office they said they did not have a truck for us there. They sent us to the above Oxnard location. We arrived and not was was there. The showed up 20 mins late. The truck was very duty inside and out. We had movers waiting at our house for more than an hour trying to find someone to release the truck to us. We were very unhappy with everything. No discount was offered for our troubles and we had to pay the moves extra to make up for them staying an hour later.

Rich MWhen we showed up to pick up the truck the gas was on EMPTY. The empty warning light was ON! The manager at the site said that the gas is stolen every night. He gave us a gas can in case we didn't make it to the gas station to add gas. This is obviously a problem there as they had a gas can for each truck. We barely made it to the gas station. Usually, the tank is full upon pickup and we just put it back to full when we return. We had no idea how much gas to put in to last us for our rental, so I'm sure we put more than we needed, especially since the light never came back on before we dropped it off. I would hope that U-Haul would at least credit us for some of the extra gas we left in the tank for THEM. If you look at the bill it says the tank was left at 1/2.
Andrew DThe truck was worn out, dirty, noisy and uncomfortable. Your rental rates are substantially higher than other truck rental companies.
Robert MID verification took awhile. There was a stranger sleeping in the back of the U-Haul upon pick up - could have ended poorly. My requested equipment was not in the U-Haul upon pick up, making the moving process more difficult. Nobody at the location picked up the phone when I tried to call multiple times to get help about obtaining the equipment that was supposed to be in the truck.

tannaz aFirst truck we were given had a cut fuel line which we discovered after leaving the facility while we were pumping gas, attendant was not helpful. Second truck we were given also had a fuel gage issue where no matter how much fuel we loaded it stayed in the reserve. Will never be using Uhaul again.

Darryl KReserving dollies, blankets and boxes along with a truck online and getting surprised when I go there to pickup what I reserved, they say we don't have what you ordered except the truck, you have to go to another U-Haul station for that is kind of extreme disappointing. It was my first experience with U-Haul and it wasn't encouraging.

Ahmad bI spent over two hours trying to obtain a 15' truck that I reserved over a week in advance. U-Haul mobile pick up would not reflect my reservation in my account. Called customer service who were no help. First customer service rep hung up on me after I asked to speak with the specific traffic department overseeing the area. After calling back again the second customer service rep would not acknowledge that I was unable to get my truck and kept trying to sell me a storage unit. After explaining to him multiple times that I would not want storage he finally connected me with traffic office #711 who finally were able to get me some help. I explained that my account was not confirming my reservation and mobile pick up was not available even though they could see the reservation on their end but for some reason it the mobile pick up would not work. After an hour and a half I was given a new reservation but now at a different location. This after over an hour and a half of trying to get my truck. At the second location the same problem occured. Again having to call customer service which had no help. I had to wait for the storage facility that had the truck to open up so that their representative was able to give me the truck. My reservation was for 9 am and didn't get my reservation until 1130. Upon first inspection the truck seemed clean but when looking deeper found heroin paraphernalia and cigarette butts. Horrible experience and horrible customer service from the call center. Only positive thing I have to say is that the traffic office 711 did their best to try to get my rental and ended up getting another truck. What U-Haul could do is make a better mobile pick up program as well tell their call center to stop pushing sales for commission and instead help their customers. Their own employees even confirm that the customer service/ call center workers are horrible and only want commission. Terrible experience

Ahmad bThere was a roll of toilet paper and a pile of human feces directly in front of the truck. The furniture pads were all over the floor in the back and it hadn't been swept out. There was a decent amount of cosmetic damage to the truck which the pictures in the app made look like it was brand new. The app also malfunctioned halfway through the check in process so I took photos for my own sake in case I was blamed for it - it was a struggle to check in and ended up with the problems with the app taking 25 minutes - would have been easier to not use it at all. The location was pretty rough with garbage strewn everywhere outside. Didn't feel particularly safe.
Joshua RI arranged to pick up my van at 8:30 AM and was guaranteed that I would get it. When I showed up it wasn't ready and I had to wait 45 minutes. You shouldn't guarantee a pick up time if you can't deliver on it.
Mark Btruck was clean on the interior but there was for sure a problem with the engine as something underneath the hood was rattling. Location was a bit odd because the office was in the entrance of a storage facility so I was not sure if they were associated with uhaul or the actual facility. My main gripe was that they told me the truck had half a tank and to make sure it came back that way. When I got in the truck it was maybe a gallon just under half a tank (11:00). I went to fill it up back to that amount which I did and they still charged me an additional 10.95 for gas after I had put 10 bucks in to get it where I had received the truck. Just bad attention to detail, Id go somewhere else.
JAIME CTruck was a piece of crap. Dirty, smelly and bucked up and down when I drove it. The steering wheel was filthy. The shocks were gone and it shook Like crazy. Very bad for hauling the art I had. I was praying I would make it okay.
GARY PThe service I received from the staff member was excellent; however, I had to change my confirmed reservation due to unavailability of vehicle type and equipment. I did not receive any notification that my reservation was not available, I only happened to find out because I stopped in to ask a question.
Mariana YMajor Complaints of which I Will call and report to corporate. All the trucks had their catalytic converters stolen, batteries stolen and the truck that was opérable was syphoned empty of gas. I barely made it to the gas station, actually roll in after the truck died. David, who was the local rep said: "This location can't protect it's trucks. neither the owner of the Storage facilite or Uhaul want to put in a gate and the cameras don't work." This is unacceptable.

Heather GThe worst vehicle rental experience ever. The vehicle was not available. There was no one on site to get me another vehicle. Called uhaul and was sent to another location further away adding more mileage to my rental charges. At the new location the only vehicle had a broken drivers door, a faulty key and would not start. Was told to just keep trying, something I had to do every time I wanted to start the vehicle. The truck was disgustingly dirty and I had to clean it before I could load it as well as wash the windscreen before I could drive it because in addition to being dirty, the washer function for the windscreen wipers was broken. There were no blankets or ties despite the fact I'd ordered them. There was no gas in the tank at all "to stop the truck from being stolen" per the manager. There was no drop box available at the location so I had to return the truck and then arrange for the keys to be returned in office hours which resulted in the office staff calling me and hassling me about the keys when they saw the truck was back at the location despite the rental time not being over. Renting from uhaul was the worst experience at both locations and the telephone support to get a solution to all the issues was non existent. I had no ability to try another company because my need for a truck was time sensitive so I was forced to take a vehicle that was dangerous and not road worthy with the worst customer support I've ever encountered.
