I returned the truck ~2 hrs early and handed the keys to a person but my account wasn't closed out until 2 days later. I was called and accused of stealing the truck until they clarified with the location it had been returned. I'm sure the customer messes up most of the time but I would prefer if internal checks would be done first.Mary C.
I never received the passcode to the lock during check-in. I was told they were going to text me the code during an earlier phone call. I had to call customer service and that took forever. I almost gave up and went homeElver L.
I've rented a pickup truck from this location three times in the last month or so. Each time the associates were helpful and the truck was in good repair and perfect for my needs. Several times I tried to return a truck using the website and the app. Pretty much the only way you can return it properly is if you install the edge browser on your phone, and use U-Haul from there. Other than that, the truck itself was pretty good. I booked a 10' box truck, so it fit my one bed/one bath more than comfortably, with room enough to pack my bike in there as well. It does go through gas a little quickly but as a V8, you should expect that, and I knew what I was getting into by using a box truck instead of a pickup.Viswathish D.

Truck was dirty, especially the windshield. It was a very "bumpy", rough ride. I accidentally put more fuel than needed to before returning the truck and U-haul refused to refund my money for the extra fuel, even with the receipt as proof. Fuel is over $5.10 / gallon right now. U-haul takes advantage of customers over-fueling their trucks. You're welcome for the free fuel.James C.

The clerk who checked us in was unhelpful, rude and actually confrontational. The location was not 24/7 pickup, even though I had selected that option- you had to go through an office, the vehicles were behind a locked gate and they would not allow us to drive into the facility to get to the vehicle. They made us walk around their storage facility in the freezing weather with an infant. Horrible, horrible experience.Andrew M.

It would have been helpful to know of the office closing at 4:30 PM. When returning equipment at 5 PM I was expecting it to be open to hand over keys. It was a little frustrating after a long day of moving to create a login and have to complete the after hours self service vehicle return, share my location through my iPhone, etc as I hadn't created an account when I made my reservation.MICHELLE L.

I arrived at 2 pm (well before it was listed as closing). There was a postnote on the locked door stating "will be back in 10 minutes). After waiting 15 minutes, calling them, knocking/ringing on the door, someone showed up behind the gate (he was throwing things out into the garbage). He told me to put the key in the uhaul after hours drop box. There was no indication or sign that this was the procedure for drop off during business hours. If it is an unmanned location, uhaul should state that (instead of having customers second guess what procedure to use).MARTA S.

I would not recommend Uhaul to anybody I know, I have never dealt with worse customer service. Due to an issue with UHaul's system I only had the truck for 2 hours out of the 4 I paid for. I waited in 100 degree weather for those 2 hours waiting for my truck.Emily S.

My truck was not wiped down with antiviral wipes or Lysol. I watched the truck pull up and get reassigned to me without proper cleaning. Uhaul staff member was the only person working and appeared to be overwhelmed with customers. Two or more people should've been working. One checking people in and another cleaning all trucks etc.ANDREA H.

Francis was Great in helping me get my belongings back that I left in the Truck after turning it in and another Customer rented it out - The only improvement would be to be more Clear on what a 24/7 lock box looks like and location of it- Was New to this process Also more Clear on if the Lot is Full - Is it OK to Park in front on the street or Do we have to park on another street My comments about me picking up my Truck with only Half a tank and that 24/7 pickup didn't work - error message uploading photo - got overlooked - I had no problems uploading photos at Return location I picked up with just under a half Tank and Returned with Half a Tank - They billed me for an $80 Fuel Charge - due to the Pickup Rep said the Truck had a Full Tank - The pickup Rep and Customer Service Rep were aware of my issue and made notes on Reservation # When I called about the issue - I was told that I would get a call back in 2 Business daysPaul H.

I did not deliver to this address. Uhaul messed up big time. I dropped off on Saturday to a destination that should not have been offered to me. The employee, Sarah, was amazing and very helpful. However, i received new drop off location texts the three days after i had already dropped off my tow dolly. I then received a phone call from the other uhaul locations saying i owed them more money because i didnt turn it in to them. When i explained it was already returned they apologized and said they would take care of it. I was in contact with Uhaul customer service about it and was assured it was solved. On Tuesday, Sacramento Uhaul threatened to mark the dolly as stolen because i did not turn it in and required me to fix it on my end even though I live in Oakland and had no way to tow a trailer. Everything was resolved by Wednesday, but not in a way that should have been.JILL J.

When I picked up the Truck that I reserved, there was people outside waiting for help. They were waiting for a while. I was able to knock on windows to get attention. I finally got help and the worker told me he had no reservation for me and didnt understand how I had one if they closed already. I showed him the email. At this point I had to pick up my furniture before 5pm. The worker stated I need to call the 1800 number as he couldnt help me. I insisted because i had 20min to get where i needed to be. The worker then agreed and gave me a box truck instead of the truck i reserved. I made it to the furniture store but was unable to get my bedding. I had to return the truck with out picking up what I rented the truck for. Then I get an extra charge of gas when I didnt even drive but maybe 5miles. This is the worse experience and i will definitely Yelp this place to prevent people who cant afford these type of incidents.TINA G.

I just give this place an average rating. Pretty small office, which is fine. The average rating is from the staff. Talks fast, hard to understand. I pretty much reserved online a month ahead of time so I basically knew what was needed from me. All in all, the van was good, it got my job done and the location was perfect.MONTGOMERY S.
The employees were awesome and very friendly! The pick up process was also very easy. The only problem was the truck. It was a bit older so the mirror on the right side would move downwards while driving, not allowing me to see the cars next to me and behind me. I would fix it and it would go back down. The pickup location has been changed by uhaul at the last minute (about 20miles away) and we couldn't adjust. It has been really complicated to have a truck in Davis, and could not drop it off in SF as initially plannedâ€¦ All this cost us much time and moneyDamien H.
The truck I rented was not properly inspected prior to use and had a fuel leak, which cost me extra money that I should not have been charged for to fill the tank back up to 1/2 full. The fumes from the fuel leak also made it difficult to drive the truck and nauseating whole loading and unloading, not to mention dangerous and highly flammable. Please make sure your trucks are properly maintained prior to loaning them to customers.HOANG P.

The rude employee, a man who didn't give his name, was awful. As I was trying to park the 15 foot U-Haul in a tight space out front, he came out and his first incredibly rude words to me were "that ain't gonna fly". He opens the gate & tells me to park it around the back. I ask if he wants to park the truck. He snaps "no" at me and does not help me park it. Okay fine, I do as instructed. Then he won't give me a receipt or even look at the truck upon delivery. He says he is back logged & that I will receive an email with the return receipt later in the afternoon. It is morning during my return. When I receive the email MUCH LATER, the emailed receipt has errors. I filled the tank above the 3/4 line (it only needed 3/4 gas) but I filled above that line. The receipt notes exactly 3/4. Also, since he would not look at the truck or validate my return....I got time stamped photos of my friend holding the key by his address at 10:23am NOT the hours later time of 1:03pm as the receipt noted. I also have time stamped photos at 10:24am, of the U-Haul I returned in excellent condition parked by another U-Haul with both truck numbers visible for proof of return. Since he would offer me NOTHING. He was completely rude, unhelpful, and his return receipt has errors on top of everything! I did not think to check the ODO either. I wouldn't be surprised if that info is incorrect too, but it looks close enough to what I drove and was within my contract. It is possible it is correct. But he did not go over that with me in person to confirm. Also, another customer arrived, a young man needing the rude employee's assistance, and the U-Haul employee was incredibly rude to him too! After I took my timestamp photos - which I'll be happy to email you if you like....I asked if can he print a receipt or anything for me. He said no. He said I could use the app to self return. At this point I had given the employee the keys and we were outside of the front locked gate. I opened the app to start the process, but I no longer had access to the truck to take photos of the odo or any other required photos needed within the app. He was back inside his office behind a locked gate. I just couldn't bear being around this person anymore. So I couldn't do the self app return process. This employee probably knew that too. So I had to leave, very unhappy, hoping this awful man wouldn't sabotage my return of the U-Haul. At which point I got on the phone and was on hold with U-Haul to report this awful man. I spoke with 2 different U-haul agents (both agents were helpful and nice on the phone). The entirety of this phone call report was 59 minutes to an hour - due to me being transferred to customer service and being on hold a second time for a very long time. I don't normally write reviews or sit on customer service phone call hold times often.... BUT... this U-Haul employee was so incredibly rude and awful and I didn't trust him. It was important to me to report him to your company. And I'm taking my time right now to finish my report and review here which I would say to friends and the public at large..... to NEVER go to this U-Haul Stonegate Self Storage Davis, CA location EVER.
