The online checkin was horrible. It took me 25 minutes to check in including the verification process. I highly doubt I would go through that again. Equipment was good the process was unhuman. Passport ask after you had arrived at the depot. You have some rethinking to doBrian J.

When I received the truck I used the 24/7 truck share so the facility was not opened yet. I drove it to my home and opened the back of the truck to find that people had been living in the back, there was clothes, food, smokes and needles. I cannot express how frustrating it is to have to clean out and sanitize the truck on the day that I have to move out of my house. When I brought the truck back and told the attendant they said that there is nothing they can do about the issue and they have the issue of people living in the trucks and using drugs all the time. When I suggested locking the trucks I was told they don't have enough locks, so this is a known issue that happens frequently and nothing is being done about it. The fellow was very polite and efficient. Seeing as the truck I received had just been dropped off, I'm quite confident it had not been sanitized. The check in line-up was lengthy and unfortunately I had to wait as the on-line check in was not working the night before my pick up.Martine M.

Ordered furniture pads - did not receive ! My son picked up the truck I ordered - guy was not especially pleasant - cost way too high - Home Depot hires same size truck for $99 plus taxes no hidden extras for 24 hrs ! This cost me $466 will be using Home Depot in future:(Sam S.

The location had a fire about a month ago and they had to set up a temporary office adjacent to the damaged building. I had ordered an appliance trolley/cart but when I got to the location they could not provide it. Maybe this was a one-off event but there seemed to be a poor link between the location and the central booking. The fellow asked for an alternative contact number and when I suggested he use the secondary driver's details, he said he couldn't view that detail. Strange. Otherwise all good. They were relaxed about the return of the vehicle. It was dropped off before the location opened because of prior commitments, we phoned and then followed up later and they were fine.Mark H.

The associate we dealt with (Jim) was incredibly rude and unprofessional. He was chastising me and my husband, as well as another couple, on where we had parked our trucks to return. There was no signage on where to park the truck we were returning, and when I mentioned that we had done our best with the little information made available, he began arguing with me that we clearly did not, as there was "all this other room" to park the trucks and "why would we park there?", meanwhile, there was a line up of about 6 people waiting to be helped. I informed him I would not be arguing about it, and he continued to rant at me about where we chose to park. I had to physically turn my back to him to get him to leave me alone. I have worked customer service for 16 years and I do not agree that this was in any way a professional way to handle the situation. Other customers were visibly and audibly surprised by his reaction and couldn't seem to believe that this would be the employee helping them. I wouldn't voluntarily choose to return a vehicle to this location again. It was quite the way to start our Sunday after moving.MATTHEW B.

It may have been my computer skills but I filled out online all the questions which indicated I was going one way from Duncan to Courtenay yet the booking agent was charging me a price more than doudle your quote and asking me questions she should have known..ie: the kilometrws to Cpourtenay from Duncan. It was a nightmare...finally I figured out and she figured out I was only going one way. I could go on and on about my friend who used Duncan UHaul the day before and had issues. I thought that might have been a one off but I think mine was worse. I exercised great patience with your agent to carry my contract through.Neil M.
The girl that helped me at the Duncan uhaul was very pleasant and helpful , I did get a phone call from a 604 area code the night I made the reservation and they said there was not the cargo trailer I wanted- so I called uhaul direct in the us and they said he was wrong- so there is a lack of communication somewhereLori H.

I was incorrectly charged for an 'after service hours' charge of $20.00 and a sales item of $5.40. I returned the cargo van exactly 24 hours after picking it up, within the Duncan location service hours AND I didn't purchase any 'sales item'. I discovered these errors when I received my final invoice by email. I phone Jim, the manager at the Duncan location and he said that this was an error and that I shouid contact a '604' number for Uhaul and that they would issue me a refund. Unita at the '604' number answered my call and created an 'action file' detailing the errors on my invoice. I then received an email response from a supervisor saying that I would receive a refund for the $5,40 'sales item' error. No mention was made of the $20.00 'after service hours charge' error. I replied by email to the supervisor, asking for a refund for the 'after hours service charge' error, but have heard nothing since. Uhaul has lost me as a customer. Mike ScottMichael S.

The only complaint I have Is that as a non-smoker I could smell cigarette odor. Upon checking the ash tray there were ashes in it. I was under the impression all U Haul trucks were non-smoking vehicles. Other than that I was happy with the friendly, professional staff who were working under difficult conditions due to a recent nearby fire that caused their office and building to be un-usable at the time.robert R.

Their customer service is the worst I've ever seen! I wasnt given a code for the key drop box. When I called the next morning the phone was picked up and hung up right away. This happened about 4 times and then someone finally answered. I let him know about the drop box and he told me that I would've received a code on my receipt and to just bring the key back. I asked where on the receipt. He told me he didn't have time to talk to me because he had customers on the store. I explained that I was also a customer and had just paid for my rental. He was very panicky and refused to answer my questions, and then hung up on me. When I dropped the key off I expressed that I was not happy about the customer service I received. Again he was panicky, rude, insulting. He wouldn't let me speak, even after I listened to him. He even yelled at me when I said it was my turn to speak. He then called his manager. I spoke to her and she was rude also. Didn't seem to care that I was disappointed with the service, she actually told me to go elsewhere. And I had stated I was going to be a return customer in a month. Plus, I have been a long time customer. Over the last 10 years I have used uhaul for 10 moves! I also asked about the fact I was charged for a second day. I was 3 hours late. I also didn't use the pads and was charged 2 days for those also. She said that's uhauls policy and she might have waived it if I hadn't complained. To top it all off. I was given a smaller truck than was confirmed in an email sent to me just before pick up, which she also said was uhauls policy. Because of this, I couldn't fit all my stuff in the truck and it was a great inconvenience during my move. I am extremely unhappy with their level of customer service skills. Being busy is no excuse to treat another customer, who has already paid for services, so disrespectful. It was a very stressful experience.Coral S.

I always have a very good experience at the Duncan location. I used your services on June 23rd 2021 for the 4th time and I'm always satisfied. The staff at this location are always very good to me and aside from the odd busy time and rude clients (out of your control entirely) it's usually quick and easy. Your hours are terrible. It's not realistic to close at 4 pm. Most people aren't even done work by 4 pm. So getting to pick up the truck in time is tight. Not everyone has the flexibility to take time off work, or the ability to do things online. It's also ridiculous to end the day at 330. Most days moving takes the entire day. Being done by 330 is unheard of.kristine S.

We were called 30 min before picking up the truck that they had none available for us even though we reserved online. The employee at the desk was very friendly and obviously, this wasn't any of his fault. We needed a u-haul truck in order to move out of my suite and I really relied on this equipment to be out of my place in time. We were able to reserve another truck but the location was much further than the one we agreed on. I think we got extremely "lucky" that we were able to get another truck BUT this was very unprofessional of the company to pretend to be reliable when they aren't. On top of that, the truck had a quarter tank and the receipt showed that it had more than that, meaning that when returning the truck we would have to fill up more gas than how we got it... Such a rip-off.Salam Y.
I rented a truck from a location in Nanaimo and then I got a phone call saying they didn't have it, so they told me another Nanaimo location. And then the day before I was planning to move, 30 minutes because uhaul hours were closed I got a phone call saying Nanaimo didn't have the truck I ordered so I had to go all the way to Duncan. I assumed since it wasn't my fault I had to go to Duncan, and that it was uhaul fault for not saving me a vehicle and being unorganized, that I wouldn't have to pay for the mileage from Duncan to Nanaimo. But that was not the case. They had 4 days to tell me my truck wasn't available, so I would have went with another company or made other arrangements if I had been given enough time. After my Roomate and I called customer service multiple times, and being sworn at, we were told that we will only get a $50 refund even tho the extra mileage is over $100. The service was extremely unprofessional, and I will know to never ever rent a uhaul again.RYANNE M.
