The only complaint I have Is that as a non-smoker I could smell cigarette odor. Upon checking the ash tray there were ashes in it. I was under the impression all U Haul trucks were non-smoking vehicles. Other than that I was happy with the friendly, professional staff who were working under difficult conditions due to a recent nearby fire that caused their office and building to be un-usable at the time.robert R.

Their customer service is the worst I've ever seen! I wasnt given a code for the key drop box. When I called the next morning the phone was picked up and hung up right away. This happened about 4 times and then someone finally answered. I let him know about the drop box and he told me that I would've received a code on my receipt and to just bring the key back. I asked where on the receipt. He told me he didn't have time to talk to me because he had customers on the store. I explained that I was also a customer and had just paid for my rental. He was very panicky and refused to answer my questions, and then hung up on me. When I dropped the key off I expressed that I was not happy about the customer service I received. Again he was panicky, rude, insulting. He wouldn't let me speak, even after I listened to him. He even yelled at me when I said it was my turn to speak. He then called his manager. I spoke to her and she was rude also. Didn't seem to care that I was disappointed with the service, she actually told me to go elsewhere. And I had stated I was going to be a return customer in a month. Plus, I have been a long time customer. Over the last 10 years I have used uhaul for 10 moves! I also asked about the fact I was charged for a second day. I was 3 hours late. I also didn't use the pads and was charged 2 days for those also. She said that's uhauls policy and she might have waived it if I hadn't complained. To top it all off. I was given a smaller truck than was confirmed in an email sent to me just before pick up, which she also said was uhauls policy. Because of this, I couldn't fit all my stuff in the truck and it was a great inconvenience during my move. I am extremely unhappy with their level of customer service skills. Being busy is no excuse to treat another customer, who has already paid for services, so disrespectful. It was a very stressful experience.Coral S.

I always have a very good experience at the Duncan location. I used your services on June 23rd 2021 for the 4th time and I'm always satisfied. The staff at this location are always very good to me and aside from the odd busy time and rude clients (out of your control entirely) it's usually quick and easy. Your hours are terrible. It's not realistic to close at 4 pm. Most people aren't even done work by 4 pm. So getting to pick up the truck in time is tight. Not everyone has the flexibility to take time off work, or the ability to do things online. It's also ridiculous to end the day at 330. Most days moving takes the entire day. Being done by 330 is unheard of.kristine S.

We were called 30 min before picking up the truck that they had none available for us even though we reserved online. The employee at the desk was very friendly and obviously, this wasn't any of his fault. We needed a u-haul truck in order to move out of my suite and I really relied on this equipment to be out of my place in time. We were able to reserve another truck but the location was much further than the one we agreed on. I think we got extremely "lucky" that we were able to get another truck BUT this was very unprofessional of the company to pretend to be reliable when they aren't. On top of that, the truck had a quarter tank and the receipt showed that it had more than that, meaning that when returning the truck we would have to fill up more gas than how we got it... Such a rip-off.Salam Y.
I rented a truck from a location in Nanaimo and then I got a phone call saying they didn't have it, so they told me another Nanaimo location. And then the day before I was planning to move, 30 minutes because uhaul hours were closed I got a phone call saying Nanaimo didn't have the truck I ordered so I had to go all the way to Duncan. I assumed since it wasn't my fault I had to go to Duncan, and that it was uhaul fault for not saving me a vehicle and being unorganized, that I wouldn't have to pay for the mileage from Duncan to Nanaimo. But that was not the case. They had 4 days to tell me my truck wasn't available, so I would have went with another company or made other arrangements if I had been given enough time. After my Roomate and I called customer service multiple times, and being sworn at, we were told that we will only get a $50 refund even tho the extra mileage is over $100. The service was extremely unprofessional, and I will know to never ever rent a uhaul again.RYANNE M.

Didnt end up getting our 2 dollies since the time it took to get to finish with 1 customer was more than 15 minutes. (wasnt finished still when we gave up) We left because we only had so much time with the Uhaul. Also wasnt the best feeling coming out to get the truck and finding a siphon hose coming out of the truck. The uhaul itself was very clean though.Brayden V.

Rented a car trailer... Completely bone dry of brake fluid - had to purchase & fill reservoir. Doesn't UHaul periodically verify they're equipment? This thing was completely dry... Over all, good experience, good service Polite & courteous.Richard S.

No other company in Duncan to rent large moving vans from. Inside of building is ridiculous and so understaffed. Had to wait 20 minutes to be served when picking up the van. This is the first time that the vehicle was not filled up when you take it. Meant I had to put gas in it at my own expense.Shari P.

Only 1 person at the location on both days, line of 7 people waiting in the rain. Other customers were venting there frustration on the poor worker. The truck was a piece of crap, it wasn't detailed when we got it, it smelt of smoke, there was a partial used cigarette package under the seat. The passenger seat belts were so jammed under the seat I couldn't get them nu-done, I had people without seat belts. When you turned on the heater there was a strong smell of antifreeze. The truck started to run very rough, chugging and the check engine light came on, the truck stalled heading into the ferry, then multiple times tried to stall and ran rough when it heated up. I had to put some pressure on the gas peddle with my one foot and hold the brakes with the other so it wouldn't stall., when we came to a set of lights, that was fun in Vancouver.The gas mileage was terrible, probably due to the fact it was running so bad. If these issues had happened before we had the truck fully loaded I would have taken it to a U-Haul facility over in Vancouver and traded it in, but of course that wasn't the case. I would like some one to contact me to discuss this, please. I feel we should be compensated for the extra stress this added to an already stressful time. The people at u haul need to be completely retrained. I have never in my life have seen a company run by so many incompetent people, I ordered a 10foot cube van for 2 to days then I go to buy boxes I went to verify about my confirmation and the person on goldstream said that it was only booked for one day when I could not have that situation as we moved out on the 30th and moved in on the first So I needed it to two days then I had go through countless hours having to get in touch with a agent to find the right truck and she kindly gave me a 15foot but I had to drive from Victoria to Duncan pick up the truck and drive back and I was given 93km and inside not even use that kms then I get charged for km I was suppose to get from manager she offers as 93 km because I had to drive the u haul back and then I had a dolly booked was not able to get that becasue they rented the one I had booked then i told her to add insurance she did not and left me in a very unpleasant feeling of not having liability. All has been confirmed that the truck was in great condition when we left and we were charged 44 dollars for km we were promised. Saying we went over our free limit in which we did not. It was the most unpleasant feeling with dealing with pain in the head uhaul. And I'll never go back again. I would never recommend themMicheal S.

Location was to open at 9am, but didn't open until 9:20. Check in app didn't work, wrong key in lock box, Vehicle was in poor condition, headliner falling down, let truck out with engine light on, listed that there was 1/2 tank of fuel but was between 1/4 and 1/2. I was made to fill it to 1/2 upon return (54.00) even when I showed them a photo of the level. So it cost $130.00 in fuel to travel 250 km.Richmond W.
There was, unfortunately an error with the key and we had to wait quite a while to resolve it. The customer service person was very efficient and apologetic. The wait time was more to do with Covid. I had ordered a dolly, furniture trolly and 1 dozen clothes which were not in the truck and when I called the office there was no answer. The customer service number had me waiting for too long. Location is easy to get to. The truck was very dirty inside and out. It had obvious issues with brakes and had mechanical noise. When we asked for a better vehicle, and there were lots of others, we were told, it's an in town truck. We returned the truck in far better condition than received. We cleaned it. Not what we come to expect with UHaul.Marc D.

wiper blades on the truck were old, and broke down, the wiper fluid in the truck was rated for summer and not winter. Had to buy new wiper blade for the truck, and it didn't work. had to call road side assistance enroute to Dawson Creek, as the wiper blade broke and the window washer fluid froze to the window while driving. I am not sure who I spoke to at the Duncan office on the 29th but they were incredibly rude to deal with, cut me off while I was speaking twice, once while I was reading the order number to say "it doesn't matter I don't need it. Call _____" and rudely informed me that they "have never heard of a cleaning fee so just call the 1800 number I already gave you and they'll refund it." They need some serious training in customer service as it honestly left me feeling in shock and very frustrated/upset. I will be referring friends and family to use someone other than UHaul based on that experience.Jonathon P.

I had one glitch, discovered when my bill was presented, which could have been handled in a way that was my fault legally. It was my fault for not following the contract. So I could have been charged with a fee for something I did not actually use. The person I dealt with made a honourable decision in not making me pay for what I did not use, even though I was liable, she was forthright, impeccable and down to Earth.
