the check engine light came on. I checked the code with my OBD scanner and reset it. I only needed it for 30km so I wasn't too worried but if I was using it for long distance I would have returned it. Your method of leaving gas tank almost empty and expecting me to fill to level it was is terrible. unless I get it exact I either put too much gas in (costing me money) or you charge me crazy amount of money because I didn't fill it to the level it was. It should be full and returned full.

CLIFFORD MWhen I picked up the trailer the employee who checked us out was aware that the passenger side turn signal was not functioning. He tried to "fix" it by banging it, and it worked momentarily. There was not another trailer to use, so we had to take the one with the malfunctioning turn light. I tried to have the light repaired at a u-haul location in Vanderhoof BC, Canada, and they said they don't do repairs. I find this unsafe and unsatisfactory that a simple repair could not be made at the renting location or the location in Vanderhoof. I was given a brochure to call the main u-haul help line, which I did. After much back and forth, I was directed to Kal Tire in Vanderhoof and the repair was seamlessly fixed. Upon returning the trailer to the renting location, the check in person did not inspect the trailer. I find this unsatisfactory customer service. How does u-haul sort if a piece of equipment is damaged upon return? Is it a bit of a lottery for the next customer to get a properly functioning piece of equipment? Does the owner of the franchise know that the employees are providing this low level of service? The trailer and the help line u-haul folks we're wonderful, the trailer itself worked well other than the issue with the tail light.

CINDY BGreat customer service. I came later than planned but all was well. The truck was old and tired and you could tell based on the mileage but it was clean and worked well.
NICHOLAS PThere was a couple pieces we weren't informed of or were informed incorrectly. Not told to take a video before we left. Which meant the link expired by the time we got to our first location. We were treated like we didn't know what we were doing "like you know that's not the same city" and then when I asked where to drop off the vehicle both on the phone and in person I was just told Nanaimo which I was like we need to drop off same day and the person working said this is a 24 hour line just call them when your done. It wasn't a 24 hour line which meant my partner had to take the morning off work.
John Ki am very tech savy (was my previous career) and was able to work through the PICKUP after hours. My spouse and colleague said they would have given up long ago. It was too technical for them. -Problem 1: for them was undoing the LOCK to get the key from the back of the van. Only figured it out after finding your youtube video. They both said they would never have figured out how to find the video. -Problem 2: The scan your drivers license into the app was glitchy. I could work through it cause i knew it was software errors. They both said there was no way they could have figured out how to work around the problems. For me, it was great to have this option/service to pickup on my schedule. For the guys, they said there is no way they could have done it. Problem 3: Check engine light kept coming on. Thankfully, you had ROADSIDE assistance chat available. They made me feel confident that i could continue with the trip. At drop off, the guy at the yard also said it sometimes is the gas tank seal that sends an incorrect message or that a vent sensor gets gummed up. They noted the problem. Drop off guy at Duncan, BC site was fantastic. He was really professional. You are lucky to have him.

Amanda HRental truck was not ready at guaranteed pick up time. My move was delayed 9 hours because of this and caused me to have to move late into the evening. Then I had to drive all night in order to finish the move. Location was completely unable and unwilking to help me in anyway to rectify the situation.

STEFFIE RReserved a 10' van three months ahead to secure a vehicle for August long weekend. I didn't need 10', but that was all that was available. Two days to departure, U-Haul informs me they don't have a vehicle for me and suggest a 15' vehicle. BC Ferries categorizes this as a 'commercial vehicle,' charges double. The cell coverage in the pickup location is poor and did not support any of the data-intensive steps required to acquire the vehicle (uploading photos, chatting with agent for assistance). Truck was in rough shape. Starting taking photos of dents and scratches but switched to video. Terrible experience.

GORDON BThe right brake/signal lamp quit working while I was driving in Vancouver. I reported this to the UHaul operator when I returned the trailer. He told me that was an ongoing problem with that trailer!

THOMAS RAir conditioning didn't work High beams didn't work We contracted for a truck and trailer, trailer was unavailable. I returned the truck with the fuel gauge exactly where it was when I took the truck and they still charged $20. for fuel. When I asked to exchange the truck minutes after I drove of the lot, they had one there, I was told it was to late. Drove to Alberta with no air.A very poor experience.

BRENDAN HThe truck was not cleaned at all, it was covered in bugs and littered with garbage from the last people who used it - dog cookies and glass of water, Amazon delivery, hangers and receipts, etc. The staff was also not informative (acknowledging that the guy I picked it up from was clearly having a rough time that day, and picked up some of the garbage for me when I asked, so maybe this was an anomaly), and It wasn't a great experience - especially when I had reserved elsewhere and unexpectedly had to cab 45 mins to this location, as it was the only one on the island with this size of a truck.
Jessica WWas told the dolly out of the uhaul that we rented was stolen and that we would not get a replacement one no questions asked . So i had to go buy one from Rona instead . Was told the truck had air conditioning, it did not in fact have air conditioning.

JOHN KPicked up the truck. Drove 2 Kim's and the low fuel warning came on. I was charged for 28 Kms and drove only 18 kms. The final charge included a quarter tank of fuel after I put in 14.00 for 18 kms. No packing blankets were available after reserving. The box was dirty and had to be cleaned before use. Overall, not impressed.

ALLAN HIt was all good, except I had no internet connection on my phone to check-out the trailer at the end.
Beat KI had reserved a dolly with the truck but when I got there none were available. Both front truck tires were badly worn which caused severe vibration for the entire trip. This was not obvious until we got the truck up to highway speed prior to arriving at the loading location. Uhaul could not provide roadside assistance to replace the tires at the loading location. Rated "Average" as I assume my experience is a typical Uhaul experience.
Ron KI rented a 20 foot truck. I was moving from BC to Alberta. I went home with the truck ,loaded the truck. After just going 1 km , the truck started overheating. When I looked under the hood , there was not a single drop of coolant in the truck. It was so annoying. I talked to the customer care. They send a mechanic after 4 hours. The mechanic also said how could they provide a truck without a coolant. Meanwhile I missed my ferry, which I had already booked . That was a loss of 600$. The thing is, if u haul is providing a service , they should provide equipment inspected by a mechanic. Specifically for the long moves . I had booked the truck a week before. If they had given me right equipment, I would not have lost so much money and time .
Satnam CThe absolute worst customer service experience I have ever had. Period. I was told to return the motorcycle trailer on a day/time the store was closed and I did. When I returned the next day to receive my deposit back they had charged me for two days. It took an argument with the young man (son of the owner) along with him and his mother arguing over the phone for me to receive my refund. Only an hour later I was notified they had charged my credit card over $500 in additional charges. Upon returning to the store the same lack of customer service was received along with a threat of calling the police simply because I wanted them to reverse the charge.

JOHN KThe customer service with U-Haul call Center was horrible. People were rude. We waited for 40 minutes to speak to someone and they provided the wrong information which meant we were unable to pick up our rental at the reservation time. We had to wait until the next morning when the store was open because we were told after hour pick up was not available-at the pick up time. In the morning we learned that the truck was ready and waiting for us. We had a number of people hired to pack the truck but were unable to do so because of U-Haul call Center not communicating correct information. Very disappointed with the service.

joel MThis comment applies to all the locations I have used over the last few years. Every single truck I have rented has had incredibly dirty inside windshields - to the point of danger when driving into a setting sun. I am not sure if there is a policy, but there should be something that requires regular cleaning of the inside of the windshield. I have made this comment before, but apparently no action has been taken.

Laura OMore information on how to return truck, you shouldn't have to have the app on your phone. Annoying you can't upload videos of the truck condition. Back up lights didn't work on vehicle.
jocelyn mI reserved equipment, and was told at the last minute it was given to someone else, even though I reserved months in advance. Also didn't get a credit for paying for that either.

ANTWAN CBefore leaving the depot, I took a photo of the gas gauge to ensure I would re-fill it correctly to 5/8 when returning. I refilled at a gas station located less than 1 mile from the depot and visually checked the gas gauge to ensure it was properly refilled. But, I was charged over $50 because the gas gauge was SUPPOSEDLY at slightly less than 1/2.

Andrrw GThe AC on a hot day does nothing unfortunately. The steps it takes to pick up the truck took us 30 minutes because there were glitches on the website. Overall the truck was good and these are truly minor details, but on a long day of moving and working it's a lot to handle.

Corbin RI confirmed with the employee that I had a rental for 24 hours beginning on Saturday at around 1pm until Sunday at the same time and he confirmed the cost. When I then asked if the locations was opened on Sunday he confirmed that it was closed but I could use the self return app to return the trailer. What he did not tell me is that it would cost an extra $20 that would be added to my bill after the fact. The employee understood my intent and totally misguided me and it cost me an extra $20.- totally unacceptable for me.

Steven HWe were sent to this location after we had reserved a trailer 5 days before in Victoria and on our way there they text us and said there wasn't any available and we'd have to go to Duncan to pick one up. They didn't offer to have one brought to Victoria for us as this was 2 days before we were going to pick it up that they told us there was none there So it cost us more time and money to go pick it up at this Location!!!
