Mike C• On January 9, 2024, I made an online reservation (Reservation #: 27080759) for a 3 day rental of a 15’ truck to be picked up at Postal Annex 4034, 4653 Carmel Mountain Road, San Diego, CA 92130 on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 5pm. 376 miles were allotted to the move. Drop off was planned for Slo Sel Storage, 154 Suburban Road, San Luis Obispo, CA on Saturday, February 17, 2024. • Prior to the February 14, 2024, move date, I received a phone call from U-Haul indicating that there wouldn’t be a 15’ truck at the Carmel Mountain location, but that they had a smaller truck. Because I didn’t want a smaller truck, they indicated that I could get a 15’ truck from a different location and that they were willing to add 30 miles onto my reservation in order to accommodate for the additional distance that I needed to drive home for the load. The location was changed to 2405 Cougar Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92010 and the miles were adjusted to 376 + 30 = 406. • On February 14, 2014, ~4pm we arrived at the 2405 Cougar Drive location to pick up the truck. The person assisting us indicated that it was lucky that we had rented the truck because it was needing to get back to the San Luis Obispo area but that there was equipment that he needed to remove from the truck. After doing so, I departed with the truck and headed home (and filled it with gas en route since it only have 3/8 of a tank). • About two hours after we started loading the truck, I received a call from the Cougar Drive location indicating that he had given me the wrong truck and that he was prepared to give me $100 credit for the inconvenience. I indicated that we had already been loading the truck for two hours, it was half full, and $100 was not an incentive at that point in time. He accepted that I wasn’t going to return it and indicated that he would alert U-Haul. • We completed our move and returned the truck to Slo Self Storage, 154 Suburban Road, San Luis Obispo with the same level of gas as when checked out at 10:30am on Saturday, February 17, 2024, many hours in advance of what was required per our agreement. The total number of miles driven was less than the 406 allotted. • Shortly thereafter, I received a receipt charging us $84.60 for an additional day and for 24 additional miles. I called the Slo Self Storage office and notified them of the error; I also received a call back from another person at that location who indicated that there was nothing that she could do. • I called the national U-Haul number and spoke to Nancy. She was able to see my original reservation and it became clear that when I was given the wrong truck, it appeared to also change my reservation. • She opened Case 4647667 and indicated that the local location had 72 hours to investigate. Given the prior feedback from the location, I don’t have much confidence in their ability to resolve this.

Paul LThe mobile experience leaves much to be desired. A mobile checkout or check-in needs to be faster and more convenient than walking into an office. It seems U-Haul has achieved just the opposite. I recommend that you hire a decent product manager who knows a thing or two about B2C software products.

martin bLocation was supposed to close at 5 PM. Got there at 4:40 PM and it was closed. Had to do all the online procedures on my phone which took awhile.
Kevin RU Haul on Prado has a great customer service rep. This secodary location treated us (myself, my husband, Dr. Dillon, and our 11 yo) like crap. There was a restroom in clear sight, yet we weren't allowed to use it. I don't use tech, so when I finallly tried to upload the pic of muy CDL, your link wasn't working. So, as before he had said he couldn't help me, when he had to he did (photo graphed the CDL.). Two large dead plants greet you in the entry. Guy without facial hair was pretty wacky attitude wise. Did not feel appreciated as repeat UHaul customers. These guys need CS training.
Tami DTruck cab was muddy and back was dirty and not swept. Vehicle's radio did not work and appeared to have a short. Upon pick-up, the vehicle had approximately 1/8 a tank of gas and they gave me a $10 credit which is about 2 gallons of gas in California.

AUSTIN GLonger hours, or have each location in the area have different hours so overall a larger window of time to return the truck, especially for drop off. Immediate inspection on drop off (so I know there's no added charges).

Julie cThey didn't have the packing blankets I pre ordered & said another location may have them. When I asked him to call and check before I go there, he said no, I'd have to do that myself. Called their but no answer. He recommended I go anyway as they may not be in the office. Went 5 miles out of my way (you can deduct that from my bill) just for the receptionist to say, we haven't had any of those for months. Had to use my bedding.
Rhonda PCustomer service was great. It was extremely easy checking in and checking out. I will definitely come here again if I need a U-haul in the future. My only suggestion would be to maybe have the exterior of the truck cleaner. There was a bit of dust and dirt build up on the windows and windshield. Not a big deal to me, but representation and clean appearance go a long way.

shayne sVery easy self-check-in process through the app. Also, the employee here was super friendly and was able to extend my reservation since the move took a little longer than expected. Overall VERY smooth/easy rental process from start to finish and the employee at this location was EXCELLENT. :)

JUDITH BI arrived t drop off the truck during the posted hours (about 1:30 on Saturday, June 5) but no one was there. I went through the online process for after-hours drop-off.

Jason SI expected to be done with the truck at 4 but didn’t get it back until 4:50. The rental place closed early so I dropped the keys off in the drop box. Found out the next day that they charged me for an addition day. As for the truck, it’s unfortunate that the dolly and blankets can’t be moved as they were in my way when trying to load the truck.

sean dManagers Stan and Jill Hale are the most unprofessional people I have ever met. They out of spite would never confirm the reservation with me until 8 AM the day of pick up on Saturday . First of all I made the reservation the first week of October with morro Bay U-Haul Gilbert is his name and he was also very unprofessional and told me when I went down there on 10-29 he doesn’t have the truck that there would be another truck and didn’t know the location and walked away from me very rudely as well. I was scared that I was not going to have a truck for all the week. Than U-Haul sent me a text saying there would be a truck in San Luis on Prodo and the manager said no there was not one available. Than U-Haul sent me another text that sent me to Slo Storage to Jill and Stan Hale. Jill called 10-29 and confirmed for November 1 than I called back and spoke with Stan and he said it was fine I pick it up on November 2 and he said no Problem and he said he would even change it in the computer. On 10-30 I got the rudest call from Jill Hale said I sabotaged her going behind her back and talking with her husband first of all I didn’t even know it was her husband second of all that was very unprofessional she was yelling at me and threatening me that I wouldn’t have a truck . I called U-Haul and explained to the representative how rudely I was treated and they told me that they would call them they did and called me back and said to confirm it with her again which I did and she would not tell me that the truck would be there. I didn’t know what to do worried I wasn’t going to have a truck called U-Haul representative and they said they would call her and they did on 10-31 and said it would be fine . Worried because the way I was treated by her I called on November 1 in the afternoon and she told me that she doesn’t know where the truck was and I wouldn’t know until the morning I pick it up on November 2 At 800 am! Had to call the representative of U-Haul back and he tracked it for me and the truck was sitting there. In other words she made me feel terrible and frightened on purpose because of her unprofessional ruthless attitude. The people helping me move could not believe how I was treated plus they came from very far away to help me. On 10 3119 I was offered a $50 credit from your U-Haul rep for my terrible experience and I would like to be refunded that money also I would like to have a formal complaint done on Jill Hail on the way she has treated me and I’m sure treats many of your customers with her hateful attitude. I hope this doesn’t happen to any other person trying to move and having additional stress with a U-Haul company like this. Thank you
