This specific store was unorganized and inconvenient. I showed up on time to pick up my truck and when I opened my lockbox there was no key. So then I proceeded to have to sit on hold, then wait for an area manager to come to the store to cut me a new key. This was a huge inconvenience and I will never be renting a U-Haul from Lakeside Automotive again. However I will say that the U-haul area manager was very helpful and I appreciate him and the good job he did.Josephine B.
I put the key in their UHaul dropbox #1 (along with the receipt for the gas to show I replaced what I used), but somehow they couldn't find the key the next day and blamed me. This was after they called me to verify that I did indeed put the key in the dropbox. I don't know what they did with the key, but for them to charge me a $75 locksmith fee plus an additional $35 for an additional day's rental rental for their mistake is just ridiculous. I took a bunch of pictures of the truck when I returned it to show that I didn't damage it in any way, but I didn't realize I should have taken a picture of me putting the key into the dropbox as well! I'm currently disputing the additional $110 charge on what should have been an under $50 rental.Erik R.

Location did not put in my 24/7 reservation so I was not able to pickup my truck at the reserved time and I had to wait until the next day. When I picked up the truck the next day, none of the employees were wearing masks.Emily G.

The customer service was subpar. I felt like a nuisance rather than a customer. The representative seems preoccupied with other things and not interested in serving my needs. On the other hand, once he gave me his attention, he seemed knowledgeable and was helpful getting the equipment attached to my vehicle. Again, once I had his attention, he also processing my payment quickly and efficiently.Kody Y.

Make sure the code for the boxes to pick up keys is correct. Make sure the key that is in the box is matched up with correct truck that the website says it's assigned to.Jahadi P.

FIX this locations phone number that you have on-line it is a busy signal all day long! My issue is not with this place its was UHAUL in general. The scheduling pick / drop off NEEDS IMPROVEMENT! On 8/07/2019 I wanted to pick it up at one location I called the location the day before an they said they are not UHAUL staff call a phone number. The day before I was to pick it up!!!!! Then had to drive 20 minutes to pick it a the Albany location. THE DAY BEFORE pick up!!!! on 8/21. All good out Brockport. Then I in Brockport I see a UNHAL place around the block from where I was. Lakeside said sure drop it off all good see you later. No paper work given just you are all set sir. Then I try to do it on-line that was a big no go! Then call you and try to change a drop off location! GOOD LUCK from staff not knowing how too to drop calls not fun. I do understand that I changed the drop off location but trying to let UHAUL know was a nightmare!!! I was making a change a day before it was due to be dropped off and your phone call staff could not change it. Two thing fix this locations phone number that you have posted online. BUSY SIGNAL> Second make so your phone call staff can help.Christof G.

The Uhaul website was down (which is frequent) and the manager was unable to use the system. He took down my information and trusted that I would return the van, a swell guy! The previous renter of the van changed the lock code on the box, however the manager was able to "guess" the lock code because the outside lock boxes provided by Uhaul are EASY to trick open if you know how. Luckily for me the guys were able to figure it out! The Uhaul "self check-in" service, in my opinion, has been nothing but trouble. The location I rented from was GREAT, however the Uhaul system itself is NOT good and I could not recommend the service at this time.Benjamin D.

overall the dealer was great, however, the uhaul customer service 800 number is rated a big fat zero. I had reserved a 10 foot truck at this location as shown on the website. Only to be redirected to another dealer 20 miles away by the customer reps. This not only added to my trip time but substantial money due to the additional miles by a customer rep. what a racket, state there is a truck available at one dealer only to send you somewhere else at a greater cost. The one thing that bothered me was the customer care people I talked to just did not give a damn, their attitude was take it or leave it. What has happened to uhaul? maybe has rose above thier customers care and trust.shirley N.

I filled the truck up with gas prior to returning it. and was still charged 22 bucks for fuel. while agree it wasn't full the rental paperwork said it needed to be filled to between 7/8s and full. i filled it stopping a few times to check the gauge even doing my best to insure it was filled properly. i dont think i should have been charged.MICHAEL B.

This is a no frills garage but the service was professional, and prompt. Although 25 minutes away from where I wanted to do my pickup, the ease of pulling up hitching up and finalizing the paperwork took all of 15 minutes or less!robert M.

As usual, the clerk at Lakeside was helpful and courteous. I had no problems, and have never had any issues for the 9 or so years I've used their location for renting an enclosed 5 X 8 to tow with our Honda CRV - 1500 / lb towing capacity. The computer said I was again good to go. However, the Long Pond U-Haul main hub denied me the 5 X 8 unit I had reserved after twice re-checking with them and received an "all systems go", and that my vehicle was up to towing specs. Despite my pleas and mild anger, the clerk would not process my reservation and allow me to pay. I have rented a 5 X 8 from them for the past 3 years and towed it away with my same CRV. I ask you,...... WTF ?KEN K.

Truck needs to be attended to cleaned inside the cab and proper millage needs to be written down.. I had a reservation guarantee which I would receive 50.00 for them not having the previously agreed upon equipment.. The rep informed me I had to take care of that on the end of my trip when I returned the uhaul... The truck cab was filthy sticky coffee and soda all over the steering wheel the console the seats and the floor... I had to clean it before I drove to CT.. Not having the truck I reserved costed me approx another 60.00 with fuel and toll costs... I use uhaul I have always used uhaul and it is often.. I am completely dissatisfied with my rental.. The person on this end was very helpful did everything he could for me and even spoke with a uhaul rep then I still had to call to place a ticketed complaint and now I have to wait to see if I receive any compensation... I should receive the 50.00 guarenteed reservation fee and I feel I should recieve at least another 30.00/40.00 for the added costs.. Brand new truck I had and it was not a great trip...Patrica H.
I had gone to this location in person to rent a 10-ft truck the day before I needed it. Upon arriving the next day, I was told that I had rented a 15-ft truck which ended up costing me $10.00 more. I was told that U-Haul "changed my order" and not them. Very disappointed in U-Haul doing this. I took the 15-ft. truck due to a time restraint, but in the future I will look to Penske or Hertz for my future rental business. This is NOT the way for U-Haul to do business!!!!William V.

I have rented trucks from this location before with no problems, but unfortunately this time there were some. The brakes were in desperate need of service! Every time I used them, the pedal would pulsate under my foot, the steering wheel would shake back and forth and the whole truck would rattle violently. It was scary driving this vehicle on the highway. Whenever I had to slow down for an on- or off-ramp or stop, I would slow down early and just coast to avoid using the brakes longer than I needed to. I was strapped for time helping move my daughter out of one apartment into a new one, or I would have brought the vehicle back for a different one. Upon dropping the vehicle back off when we were done, it began raining and water leaked through the cab roof and dripped all over the seats. As I stated, I've rented here before with no issues, so I hope this is an isolated incident.Charisse M.
The brakes were a mess on this truck. The rotors were warped so badly that the truck shook violently when applying the brakes. However, the employee was very polite and my reservation was waiting for me when I arrived.Todd B.
The site the truck was picked up at was fine. My complaint would be with the online reservation process. I booked a truck on 7/18/16 with my preference being a u-haul location within minutes of my house. The day before pick up I was informed the truck would be picked up 30 minutes from where I live. I called the reservation desk and was informed in a nasty way that that is the way it is. I went to my local U-Haul and explained the situation. I was informed that there was a truck in the yard that was available. Emails were exchanged with dispatch but they could do nothing either. Not good!!!Scott V.
