Truck I was supposed to rent was not there so I was unable to do self checkout. Had to go inside and ask for help and they gave me a different truck. Dolly was not in truck, was told I was supposed to call ahead (nobody told me this in email I got while making reservation online). Truck floor was dirty and I had to sweep it out before returning it so I wouldn't get charged. To be fair, I don't think any of this was the location's fault, I blame the online reservation part of the company for screwing up. What if the location had been closed and there had been nobody one there to help me??

wilfred yamashitaThe uhaul that I reserved was not even present at the location I went to pick up at. I had to drive 30 minutes to the next nearest location to get a similar uhaul van. When I started the vehicle I found that it had less that 1/4 of a tank of fuel. Overall, very frustrating day.
richard bellThe owner arrived at 9:15 am when the store/location was supposed to open at 9 am. He could not have been more unfriendly. Let me be clear, he was not rude, but not welcoming in the least and barely uttered a word to me. Lastly, the location did not have an "appliance" dolly that I ordered and had expected. Honestly, I am not 100% sure that he even looked for the appliance dolly. He went in the back room and walked out with a regular utility dolly. I am a business owner and rarely negatively review another business owner, but my experience was appalling. I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt and suggest that my experience had to me an anomaly as I cannot imagine U-Haul would allow such customer experiences to persist if U-Haul knew my experience was the norm. I hope others customers, past and future, have a better experience. Thanks.

He said we would be back later drop the trailer in dirt yard and he would handle the paperwork when he returned. We were not able to lift the trailer to drop. Went back in the store. They said he would be back on 10-15. mins. After 45 mins in the sun. We asked a United Rental truck driver getting lunch at the store to help us unload. Bad service!

Mildred HernandezThe following is of no fault to the representative at the yard I picked up the rental truck. When I picked up a 26 ft U-Haul truck I noticed there was no fuel in the tank. Therefore I had to fill the empty tank before going to my destination. Without knowing the fuel mileage of the truck or the amount of fuel I would need to reach my destination, it required me to fill the tank costing over $150. Afterwards, I discovered I only needed half a tank for the job. Unfortunately U-Haul does not compensate you for the under fuel. Therefore you lose on whatever gasoline you don't use and the next customer benefits from your wallet. I will be posting this on all social media outlets to warn people of this scam.
Trace EubanksI reserved a 10' truck for 4:00. When I showed up at 4:00, the guy told me the truck is out and will be back in an hour. Consequently, I had to go home and wait. They never called me to say it was ready, so I went back at 5:00, and had to load he truck in the dark, due to this. In addition, the back of the truck smelled like dead fish, manure, or something not right, and the walls and floor was all wet. Lastly, I rented some blankets to protect my furniture, and most of them were wet. Hmmnnnn!! What rating would you give this rental experience?

Carson MurrayMy reservation which I made 10 days in advance was for Santa Maria but a few days before my move I was told I would need to pick up the truck 20 miles away in Nipomo. Adjustments were made but it still took an hour of my time. The staff at the Nipomo location - which is actually a small grocery store - was helpful and efficient. There were two trucks and three trailers on a dirt lot. The truck had only 1/8 of a tank so more of my time was needed to fill it up. The A/C worked for about 100 miles and then quit for the next 3 hours of 102 degree heat. I got a blister on my elbow from arm rest. The truck had no cruise control, a real bummer for a 5 hour drive. Other than the A/C there were no mechanical issues and the truck got the advertised 10 mpg.
