We arrived 10 minutes early for our pick up, the staff member was on the phone trying to fix what I assume was a computer issue. He offered no explanation and just left us standing their waiting. He wasn't rude but he certainly wasnt friendly. We left 15 minutes after our pick up time with no apology for the delay. When the vehicle was returned he questioned the amount of gas we bought it back with. When we got the vehicle we were told it was at 3/4 of a tank, it wasnt, it was under that. We put in enough to bring it up to just under 3/4. He figured out how much gas we needed to put in by the mileage and then said we were okay. The 3/4 of a tank is a scam in my opinion. The vehicle should be full when we get it and full when we return it. The chances of us using this location again are very slim and we will not be recommending to anyone. There are much friendlier and more customer service driven options available.TIMOTHY T.

Setting up the rental did not go smoothly The representative I dealt with tried to upsell me on a truck size I did not need by saying they didn't have what I needed...I managed to book an 8' truck despite what he said, so not pressed. The truck had garbage in it...I didn't really feel comfortable in it especially during Covid...I ended up cleaning the interior before driving a ay which is not what I expected. Please advise the agent to pay attention to the one customer well as he was all the time on the phone with several calls! As a customer I need that few mins attention and explain the truck I hired/booked and other options! Whe I tried to explain he was not willing to even listen and but me short saying no Argument!! That's very rude! I explained to his son on return & hope he at least takes it seriously! Thais was my first time in these years I have self with any car rentals! Very disappointed!! The representative's shop said on their window they were open at 8. He did not show up until well after 9. closer to 9:30. This put me back on my tight schedule that day and I only managed to pack and move half of items. Will never rent from this location again.Scott M.
This was a robbery. I rented the vehicle for less than 3 hours. The vehicle have not got cleaned as there was facemasks and other garbage left in the cupholder. I drove the vehicle for 23 miles which equvilent to 37 kms. I put 7 liters of gas in it before returned it. At the check out the guy told me I have to pay another $11.40 because I ONLY drive the vehicle for such short distance and the gas gauge would not move. So he had to charge me for the gas by per mile I drove. I ended up paying 21.44 cents gas money for the 37 km I drove. Which I did the caculation. 21.44/today 's gas price 1.390=15.42 L of gas for 37km. (100km /37km )*15.42=41.68L Wow !Yilun Z.

I rented a truck for 2 hours and it cost $183!!! I am devastated. Your advertising is very misleading. There was only a quarter tank of gas and when I brought it back to fill with gas, he told me to put $50 in and then would not let me turn on the truck to see how much gas it was. Unbelievable that I spent $183 to pick up a $100 bed.Karrie H.
I called and got a pick up truck I said I might gonna need it for two or three hours, it took me less than three hours to get my things done the guy from the location where I picked up the truck he's calling me and giving me a shit over the phone telling me that why am late I supposed to have it for two hours .. I don't understand when I pay $19.95 for one day renting fee plus paying for the kilometre why do I have to rush to bring the truck back within two hours or three hours I could hold the truck for all day but I just wanted to be nice return it after when I'm done my work, for him giving me a call while I'm driving coming back and being rude to me that is ridiculous.. And then he was trying to charge me another extra $20 for cleaning charge when I looked at my invoice I told him what is this extra charge he act like stupid he waive the charge he didn't even apologize to me I don't recommend anyone the location this is was my experience.danie S.
The customer service we received from the clerks at the store was not friendly customer service. The uhaul system failed both in the morning and in the afternoon. Realizing that this was not the fault of the clerk, neither of them handled it very well. We booked the truck over 1 month in advance to pick up at 8am. We arrived at 7:53am to find that the store did not open until 8am. Booking for a specific time, it is expected to receive it at that time. however, the clerk didn't arrive to open the store until 8am and we didn't receive the truck until 8:45 We had to wait for him to â€œopen the storeâ€ before he was able to start helping customers with their uhaul trucks. He had to gather news papers and place them in the store, turn on lights etc. As these are all things that need to be done, they should be completed prior to the store opening at 8am. The clerk was working with another uhaul customer ahead of us (we assume) the system was not working properly. As he was just sitting looking at the computer not saying anything. (Communication is key) Finally after having to restart the computer he was able to get the customer in front out the door. Looking for our reservation, he was not able to locate the reservation. Said he couldn't find it, wasn't in the system. But left us hanging. Then asked for my husband's phone number, as he was the driver. That was given. Then asked for another number. I gave him my phone number. I explained that I was in a separate vehicle and we were not travelling together. Said he needed another 3rd number. For an emergency contact. No other explanation was given. I still didn't know at this point if we had a truck. When I booked the truck, why was this information not required at that time. Besides the customer that was in front of us only had to give a second phone number. A 3rd phone number was given and he grabbed keys. I had to ask at this point if he found the reservation? He said well yeah that's what we have been working on. Ok, but communicate that!! We did finally get out of there with the truck. The problem with that was that we had an elevator booked for 9am - 11am Loosing the time at pickup was lost time for that elevator. Major inconvenience Later in the day when we returned the truck. The clerk that was working was again not able to locate the reservation. He said that his manager was going to be in later and that my credit card was going to be charged. This is not acceptable. You can't just tell someone that their card will be charged without giving any idea of an amount. With the request of an amount he said â€œaboutâ€ $80. Pushing for more communication. He showed me the screen. It said $82.50. Just say the amount. Don't say about. Later that evening I did receive an email with my final invoice details outlining the total amount. Hello there, Today I have used your van and I have an awful experience to share with you. I really hope that you guy aware of this kind of situation and read the google review as well. I am not the only one who is treated like a garbage from this store. My reservation number is 28654847. 1. Short staffed and unorganized store causing a major delay on their service (on their desk it says "Our priority is convenience store and gas customers. Uhaul customer wait time is 10~30 min") 2. Dolly was reserved from online but when I got there the guy said he doesn't have 3. Now this is the point you need to read very carefully if you are reading this complaint. I know I have to top up the gas before I return it and it's an obvious fact which everyone knows. So I filled up the tank to full with my father standing next to me. And both of us heard the pump clicked twice before I finalize my transaction. So I walked into the store to return the van and the clerk calculated something (I'm guessing mpg) then he said I only used 3L of gas and also saying it doesn't make any sense to him. He treated me like a liar so I told him to check if he cannot trust me. Then he made me pull out the van from the parking lot and park it by the gas pump and started to fill the gas even though the pump was kept on making clicking sound. Even when your tank is full if you squeeze the pump, it will still fill some gas. Anyways amazingly they said I didn't top up the gas and I have to pay $2.?? Hell that $2 is nothing for me but they just disrespect their customer and made me feel like a liar. This is the one of the worst nightmare experiences in this entire fking 2021 beside Covid-19. Unprofessional staff. I returned the moving truck with the same amount of fuel but they say the gauge is not precise and based on the miles or kilometers and the truck gas mileage it would need a given amount of fuel, which was way more than I put. I believe this is not a policy from U-Haul as I rented before and never had issues. I'm still recommending U-Haul to friends but for sure not on this location.Jose S.

We rented a 6'x12' covered trailer to help friends move in-town, because we rented it for 2-days, they automatically assumed we were leaving town. They charged us a one-way fee and when I returned the trailer back to this location, I tried to get the proper rate and my money refunded. The personnel there were very rude about it and lost their cool and would not refunded the difference. I had to call U-haul customer service to explain the situation and get them to refund my money. Worst customer service i ever had. The person supposed to serve a customer was bossy. I brought a truck back with gas above the line it was supposed to be. He wanted to see my gas receipt which i didnt have as U haul personal do not need to ask. Even after adding gas for $10 more at his gas pumps, he charged me extra for gas. Your mileage rates are outrageous when you advertise for $19.95 for a day. I had the vehicle for 3 hours and my bill was $85+ plus fuel. 3 hours. That's highway robbery. Your mileage rates are OUTRAGEOUS. I will never recommend UHAUL for short hauls.Margaret S.

The van was quite dirty inside the cargo area and the cab floor. I doubt it was sanitized between customers. I drove less than 30 kilometres so put 4.3 L ($5) of gas in. I was told the expected gas usage is based on a calculation per km so the clerk asked for additional funds. Should have been explained at pick up.Mary H.

I drove 18 kilometres , the gas gauge on the truck didn't move from 3/4 of a tank (the starting amount of the rental). The Hawkstone location determined that the UHaul policy was $1 per every 3 kilometres for fuel. I was charged $6 for fuel when I at most used $2.00 worth. The location said this was UHaul policy, but was not in my contract.Timothy Mark C.

I have raised a complaint as the cargo van was not clean and had fresh paint (pictures available) and I was not able to use properly. In addition, the agent charged extra fuel without my consent saying it does not matter that I filled it up to same meter reading it was. The customer service isn't the greatest. Lack of staff for helping others. Disorganized, moving boxes everywhere, sign saying people who purchase gas has priority even though if your there earlier. The operator at the cashier was so unprofessional. When he was giving me the van, he said that the tank is at 3 quarter full and you need to bring it back with same amount. I told him why don't you full the tank and I bring it full too. (Last time I had this experience that bringing back the truck, I filled it so the gas indicator shows the same amount, but when returing the truck, he said that you filled it too little and he charged me extra based on some calculations he did not explain). This time he explained that they consider 1 letter consumption for every 4 kilometer of driving. I accepted it and when I brought it back, I calculated how much I need to fill, and it was less than 10 liter, but I filled 11 liter, just in case. He asked for the gas reciept and I showed him. He was happy then. When get back home, he called me and acqusing me that I lied and filled the gas into anpther car. He was so rude and when I was shocked about his call, he ended the call. I won't go to this location again and will let my friends know about it too.Ali R.

The owner/person at the front desk was not very accommodating and seemed to be a bit rude when I went to pick it up. I had the vehicle for 2 hours, but they started calling me after 1 1/2 hours and asked me when I would drop it off. When I went to drop off the van, they asked me to take a picture of the mileage and gas level. The gas level was good which was above the mark as compared to the time I picked it up. I drove 35 kms and put 10 liters of gas in the vehicle. They wouldn't agree initially, but when I persisted, they did. Other customers were also listening and we're laughing at him. Not a good experience for me as fas as customer satisfaction is concerned. I would have done a far better job had I been in their place. 2 stars only. I would not recommend that location to anyone else.Amit B.

Staff at the location were rude. Sign posted at counter (in convenience/gas store) read â€œUhaul Policy: Uhaul customer wait time is 10-30 minutesâ€. As far as I am aware, this is not a Uhaul policy but rather a store policy. Truck cab was filthy (sticky cup holders with trash inside) and truck bed unswept, with screws on the floor. Truck was rented out with less than 1/4 tank, but tried to make me return it with a 1/2 tank. I rent Uhauls a few times a year for work, and this was my first time using this location. Customer service was poor. The guy kept me waiting while giving priority to his convenience store customers from behind in the queue. He was not honest in fuel level . I give him the tank above the level received, he still charged me $7 extra for fuel. I showed him the before and after pics of the fuel guage but he he wanted to rip me off, which he did.. S.
