Truck was in bad shape: back door could not open. Had hard time loading and unloading, driver door wouldn't lock and unlock, rear view mirror wouldn't adjust. Truck was dirty and smelling cigarette . Right side of truck was accident damaged.GIBSON M.

The email I received after reserving the trailer stated my preferred pick up location (U-Haul on E. Washington street, Indianapolis; I have the original saved as a screenshot). I arrived at the location on time 10am, they stated they did not have the trailer and sent me to another location, a 15 minute drive further (on Massachusetts street). I called the second location to inform them that we were on our way and was told they did not have a trailer on site. The 2nd/Massachusetts street location then told me they were sending my reservation to a U-Haul on Pendleton street, a third location; we re-routed and arrived at 11:15am. After standing in a lengthy service line, we were rather rudely informed that they too didn't have the trailer and were clueless why the second location sent us their way. The representative contacted customer service, for which they stated we would be credited $50, but they did have the appropriate trailer at two other locations, both of which were 15 miles further, an additional 25 minute drive time. We chose to travel south to a fourth location in Greenwood and arrived just after noon, over two hours after our scheduled pick up time and a half hour drive further than anticipated. The Greenwood location at which we picked up the trailer was satisfactory and the individual helped in removing our original hitch, etc. No complaints with his service. The whole ordeal was extremely frustrating, the majority of interactions unpleasant despite our patience and though the $50 credit was appreciated, we would have rather had the trailer and been on the road on our schedule.WESTIN ROBERT W.

The guy working the desk was the rudest and grumpiest guy I've ever worked with. Was waiting in line behind a gentleman that didn't understand the instructions on how to use a card machine and instead of helping him he just kept raising his voice louder and louder and clearly getting more and more frustrated. I was getting mad at the employee because he was just being a jerk for no reason at all. Of course I was next in line to do paper work and I asked if I could leave my car at the location and he snapped back â€œABSOLUTELY NOT!!!â€. A simple â€œno, sorry we don't allow cars to stay hereâ€ would of been fine but he insisted on being rude to both myself and the customer before me. The Uhaul helped great! A lot of cigarettes left in the back of the truck bed but I swept them out before I used it. Find someone who isn't going to be a dick to customers for no reason at all. It's his job to help us and if he is that miserable there then he should find a new jobAUSTIN N.

UHaul scheduling is the pits. A confirmation number means nothing. site was changed 40 miles from our home to pick up and an hour and a half after we had scheduled the pickup. Closest place to pick up a truck at the time we needed it was Ohio at least 2 hours away. We could not schedule for the size vehicle we wanted and needed. No rentals in our town for longer that 24 hours. overall lousy customer service.John B.

Rented a pickup truck. Didn't expect much. Just needed to haul some items for an upcoming move. Interior of truck stunk and was dirty. I and others could not get the tail gate to lower. Had to climb in from the sides. The office person said they had that complaint from many persons renting this vehicle but didn't say a thing about it at the time I rented it. And of course it opened right up and worked perfectly when we went out to inspect it. Also the price was much more than I had hoped. I believe that you have priced me out of renting againMark W.
Truck wasn't sweeper out and wiper blades were torn on it. We order a dolly and was told he hadn't had any for a couple months. I found a utility dolly and roller in the back of the truck when I arrived at my location to load.Steven S.
Truck was dirty, Window seal was falling off front windshield causing road noise. The manager told us the truck had a 1/2 tank of gas then writes down 9/16 of a tank gas causing issues when we dropped off truck off in NCChad S.

The appliance and renting was great. The clustered service was below par. Not bad, just not impressive.MARY C.
The interior of the enclosed 5x8 trailer smelled like an industrial chemical. Before loading it, I discovered an oily substance on the floor and walls of the trailer - which was what had the industrial odor. I had to use a plastic tarp to protect my items from the oily stuff. Had I not seen the substance, it might have damaged or destroyed my furniture. The man that processed my rental (I had checked-in on line) was just barely personable. He certainly didn't care about customer service. After the trailer was hooked up, he checked only my flashers. When I got the trailer home, I discovered the running lights weren't working, though the brake lights and signals were working. I eventually got the running lights connection to function. Why didn't the guy check the running lights when he checked flashers?? Also, when I left the facility the chains and the wiring harness were dragging the ground, but the guy didn't seem to care. Truck was not properly maintained (location did not maintain proper coolant level) and resulted in it overheating and causing a significant delay in our moving day. Pick up location employee was rude and seemed put off that he had to do his job. After paperwork was done he said â€œyour truck is on the sideâ€ and walked away. Will definitely wont use this location ever again. Have rented from UHaul many times and this was by far the worst location I have usedMARK S.
They were making ground repairs so it was disheveled. The truck smelled strong of cigarettes, driver window controls didn't work and the tailgate was broke and wouldn't open. Customer service through the 800 number was horribleAlexandria L.

The facility was fine and helpful. Its the contacting reservation / customer service that needs improvement. Was waiting 30 mins to get a representative on the phone to locate the equipment I needed. I was then sent to the facility in Greenwood to find out that the equipment I was sent for was damaged and marked out of service awaiting the part it needed. I then spent 20 minutes again waiting to get customer service who then told me that there was nothing they could do for me that the facility mgr would have to call trafdice department. So the mgr called and was able to secure me a discount of $50 dollars to compensate me for my inconvenience of having to keep the auto transport continually hooked to my tow vehicle as the jack crank was broken.BRUCE R.

Overall experience was awful. I opted to pick the truck up via mobile after hours. This was not an option when I showed up to pick my truck up at 10pm on the website. Just wasn't an option on the website when I logged in. I had to wait until the location opened up the following day to pick up my truck (10 hours later than I'd expected). The location I used was amazing. The UHaul service is awful. If there were other affordable truck rental services I would use them instead.THOMAS H.

I tried to rent a 6x12 utility trailer with a ramp. The website said I could get it at one location, but when I got there the national website had reserved me a 6x12 box trailer with no ramp. Fortunately the employee at the first location quickly found me what I needed and I was able to go to a second location and get the trailer I needed. The clerk was unfriendly and put the wrong info on the order and gave us a key to a different truck than what was on the order. Put down the wrong return time and when we tried to return truck because of the wrong info being on the order it took us an hour and a phone call to customer service to return the truck.MATTHEW H.

While our experience with Chris at the Main Street location was good, I would not recommend UHaul after my last two experiences. In August 2020, the shop at 1251 US 31 in Greenwood was an hour late getting opened and it took another hour to get checked in and receive my rental. Today, it took 6 attempts to create an account online for the 24/7 pickup because your site kept resetting to the create account screen every time I got a verification code. I finally had to use a second phone to get past that step. Then, it would not accept the alternate phone numbers we gave. Then, the equipment we were assigned was NOT ON THE LOT! It took almost 20 minutes to get rerouted on the phone and we had to go to another location to get a truck, which added mileage to our move and put us an hour behind schedule. Chris at the Main Street location was very helpful and was the only pleasurable part of the experience. 30 minutes after we got the truck, I got a text telling me I had 3 hours left of the rental, except I still had 3.5 hours and the truck was not actually due back until 1:30, NOT 1 pm. Your website needs major improvement to be user-friendly, and it should not take an hour or more to pick up a reserved vehicle.James K.
This location only likes to screw ppl. Charged me for a second day when he KNEW the truck was returned same night! The cab nor the back were clean. He tried overcharging us for gas claiming it was lower than when we picked it up and I had pictures to prove so. NEVER AGAINBRADLEY G.

I called several times to get directions to no avail. No one picked the phone up. Once I arrived, I did not think the guy was very professional and he said, "we really don't need anymore trailers". But he quickly stepped into action and found a space. He also asked if I was good at backing up and I said no as I could see it was a tight space. He was good a backing up. I asked for a receipt and he said it would be emailed to me. I was not comfortable with that, not knowing anything about this man or the business. But I did recieve on later in the day.Thomas R.

24/7 process takes way longer than just doing it the old way and you still have to have contact to get the keys. Return continually has customer going back to the vehicle because it doesn't ask all questions at once so you don't know what all you will need. Keys didn't fit through the return slot. Had to unlock on the lockbox to put keys inside.Chris C.
