The location is a mess. We had to drive over a small curb to be able to get out of the parking lot. Had my fiance not been the one driving, I never would have been able to get the bus out or back in. Also, the description of where the truck number is is super confusing.

I was informed after arriving that I needed to go to a local auto parts store to purchase a electrical adapter. I was not given the information on type and needed to describe what I saw. There was not locks to secure the trailer to the hitch

I was unaware of the additional mileage charge and understand it but was also unaware of the CDW charge for $10.00. Was not aware of this prior to picking up the rental. There was very little room to leave a parked car at the location.

I hate to be this blunt about any business, but frankly this location was an absolute dump. The front and back parts of the building were barely navigable due to the number of scrap cars left sitting rusting on the lot. The facility itself was dilapidated and not up to the same standard as literally any other uhaul location I have rented from. The vehicle itself that I was rented at this location was very old, and it became very clear upon driving it on the highway that it has not been properly maintained. Regardless of whether the vehicle was in tow mode or not, the transmission had such issues that it sounded as if a propeller plane was taking off, and the hard clunking that I and my passengers heard and felt made us afraid that the engine was going to break apart during our drive. When the propeller/airplane sound was at its worst, we could smell exhaust and/or other fumes come into the cab, to where we had to drive with the windows rolled halfway down to ensure we weren't getting headaches while driving. The vehicle could NOT get up to speed on the road, which caused VERY unsafe driving situations as drivers darted around us as we struggled to get to and maintain speeds of 40 and 50 mph. I was supposed to have this vehicle for 26 days, but my passengers and I were so afraid and felt so certain that this truck would break down and strand us during this period that I returned it only 2 days after picking it up. And, given that it was indicated to me at the time that this was the only available option from UHaul for a vehicle of this size for the time period I needed it, I felt I had no choice but to change my plans completely, and instead rent a cargo van for a week-long period and then rent a truck from a completely different business for two weeks after the van gets returned. This has cost me more money and wasted precious time. I have been renting from UHaul for years, and this is one of the worst experiences with a vehicle I have had with this company. This is the absolute last time I will rent from the Grace Auto location in Palatine, because it is now clearly obvious that I cannot trust any vehicle from this location. I am extremely tempted to ask for a credit to my account given this rental experience, and I **STRONGLY** encourage UHaul to stop this business from renting Uhaul vehicles and tarnishing your good business name by renting dilapidated equipment from a run down and dirty facility.

Service was awful. I had to wait 90 minutes between when I scheduled my equipment pickup, and when I actually got it. Severely put me behind schedule. I played so much “phone-tag” with UHaul team members, and waited on hold for so long, it was ridiculous. Not to mention that the UHaul website kept refusing to work on the day of - It loaded fine, but every time I tried to select ANYTHING, it kept saying “Please turn on your location” (It was on the whole time), or “Error, please try again” countless times. Horrible customer service. I'm using a different service next time, considering the amount of frustration and unnecessary waiting I had to deal with just to get the equipment I had already reserved.

Staff were not wearing masks(violating state law) and no effort to keep distant When asked if k ew they were suppose to wear a mask they nodded. The touchless UHaul service app is horrible Kicks you out after 30 seconds and says lost connection start again.

The software in the uhaual website takes you for a walk. it asks you to locate the vehicle first and then tells you to go and get the key for vehicle. in this location the vehicle and the key were in opposite ends of the building. it would have been better if the website had showed both the location of vehicle and key at the same time; so that people would not have to walk back and forth. Nevertheless the details in the website and the location were accurate and easy to follow. thanks for this.

Fix the app. I couldn't return the vehicle on the app. It would not allow me to upload a photo of the odometer and fuel and refused to let me go any further in the return process. I finally figured out that I could go to your website and return the car that way.

This location was very far from my house and the original location that I requested. When I called to ask about it, the customer service over the phone was very poor and rude. I had to go out of my way to get the truck 40 min each way.

We actually rented two trucks from two different locations in Palatine IL. The location on Dundee Rd. was very nice and professional. The man at the location on Colfax was was of the meanest nastiest people I have ever encountered. I have worked in customer service for over 30 years. This man has No business dealing with people!

The vehicle location is isolated in the back corner of an unlit parking lot. Ordering was messed up as usual. And customer service sucks( I was on hold for 15min then when I gave info,the line was still connected by when silent for another 15 min. No one said hold please or let me look into that for you. Just silence! And like an idiot I waited!) And check in check out sucks in general. I feel like An unpaid employee doing all this check out work. Where's my $50 dollars for my time wasted. I will only recommend as a last resort! But you don't care and nobody will even read this! So what a sucker I am twice!

The owner came in late and left my workers waiting around while I paid them. He also wrote the wrong mileage and gas down which resulted in me paying more. Complete disaster and I may never rent from you again .

The steering column mounted gear shift was in bad shape. Had to really try hard to shift into gears. Also my reservation was changed to a return of 1 AM in the morning. I had to make a phone call and get a changed back to the 1 PM that I originally booked on my reservation

If I were you, I'd investigate who you allow to represent your company. Maybe send in a "secret shopper" so you can see how your customers are being treated. Or should I say lied to and screwed over. The owner of the shop is a lying, neglecting and shady person. I will NEVER step foot on his property again and definitely let everyone I know to not use him either!!!
