I reserved a 26' truck on July 3 from Brown's in Shepherdstown, WV. When I got there to pick up the truck they did not have it although I reserved it over a month in advance of my moving date. I had to get a 20' truck which was the only option I had at such short notice. It was not big enough, but I had no choice as I had to be out of my house the next day. I am extremely unhappy with Brown's and U-Haul. What is the point in making a reservation if that's not a guarantee? Next move I'll rent from a different company.Brooklyn C.

After getting overcharged by $1400 less than a week ago, (still not resolved) I decided to rent another 6x12 trailer from another location. Once returned to the same location early believe it or not, I was again overcharged and had additional services added I did not request or consent to. (not resolved yet) Make sure you read your receipt! I will not be using U-Haul again. Also, trying to get refunded to get your money back is a crime, the first time this happened was over a week ago, I have yet to see my money returned to me. I've only gotten a response after I reported fraudulent activity to my financial institution. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I DO NOT RECOMMEND!jeffery G.

After calling me several times about my late truck turn-in, I explained the broken door situation and that I would get the truck turned in a few hours late. On returning the truck, the young woman doing the check-in was very pleasant and understanding. While explaining to her about the dangerous door and showing her the problem she stated that the truck should have never been rented we the a broken door. She took pictures of the truck and also of my wife's bruised shoulder and understood how dangerous the truck was to use. She immediately removed the truck from service and said she would report the situation. In closing, with all we went through with that truck and the broken door it would be a small token gesture on U-Haul's part to refund the entire rental cost if the truck for the 3 days I had it. I definitely want to hear back from someone at U-Haul Corporate level to make you aware if just how dangerous and unsatisfactory this whole experience was.Thomas V.

When I got to the location, the truck I had reserved was not there and I was told that they didn't have one that size on the lot. The man there said he only had a 26 ft truck available, which I've never driven, so I had to call someone else to come and get the truck. The person I had pick up the truck couldn't get it until hours later which means that instead of getting a truck at 9am, I couldn't get it until 2. My entire day was thrown off. On top of all of this, the man working there was extremely rude to me and my sister on two separate occasions that day; however, he was polite to my father. I also saw a difference in the way he addressed the female customers versus the males. He was very rude and disrespectful to the females and took a totally different tone of voice with the males. I am not happy at all with the treatment I received and I will think twice before renting from uhaul again is this is how people are treated!Heather E.

Though the U-Haul representative was very friendly and helpful the truck cabin smelled like a kennel and the seats were very dirty. Really could use some soap and water inside. Also, my card was charge 210.00 when it was suppose to be a 160.00 charge. There were errors from the beginning with my reservation and pick up. I reserved a truck for one day 7/15-7/16. But because of the reservation screw up I was given an extra 2 days and 115 miles as a courtesy. When I checked out I saw they had my reservation for 3 days in addition to the 2 days courtesy (5) days total. Thank goodness the mileage was correct upon my return trip. Which was on 7/19/2021 instead of 7/20 as was scheduled by U-Haul. It was inconvenient enough to have to go to West Virginia from Maryland to pick up the truck but this was just unnecessary confusion. It seems as if the other customer that was there at the time of pick up was experiencing some of the same issues. Should there be another occasion to rent from U-Haul I hope it goes a little more organized.ALISA L.
The entire process of signing in and getting the truck was tedious and time consuming. I was not made aware that I would need so much information or to have people available to respond regarding my rental. You have my information and credit card, there is no reason to have the process o long and drawn out, it casues delays and is pointless, and not needed once in the past when I have rented trucks and vans, so why add it now?william C.

One person working with at least 3 customers waiting at all times. Contract was written with the incorrect number for the trailer. Was told I could change the drop off location when I picked up the trailer. The manager had to call a corporate number to correct the drop off location. When he made the change he also changed the date of the drop off which we didn't know until we resented the trailer. Charged us over $400 for 4 days when the reservation was only for two. When questioned about amount of $400 for two days he said that was the going rate so unless we paid it we could not get the trailer. Now I have to spend time on the phone trying to get my money back for two days of rental that I never asked for or used. My sister in law had much the same experience with this uhaul dealer but they were the only ones to have the trailer we needed so we had no choice but to go to them.Erica B.

I needed to modify my rental and upgrade to a truck. I called them to find out if they had a truck available, and the man who answered told me he would have to call me back. I told him that I had a loading crew that was costing me $140/hr, and just wanted to make sure he could verify there was a truck available. He promised to call me back in 10 minutes. He never gave me the courtesy of a return call. I should also add that on a previous encounter, the person I talked to was very polite and courteous, but they have a dog on the premises that bit (nipped) my hand, and when I tries to walk away he bit/nipped my right ankle. Though neither bite broke ant skin, I am still bruised in the area of my right Achilles tendon.William G.

I was charged for 2 dolly's and never received them I was asked to extend my reservation for a reduced rate and was charged in full. I only kept rental for extra 2 days because I was told I would ONLY be charged for 2 days. Upon returning truck, I was charged an additional 200+ dollars on top of ALREADY paying 79.01 at time of pick up. I am NOT HAPPY with the way my finances were treated. I rented a tow dolly for one way travel and I was quoted $44.99 and once I got there it was $100 because it was for one way. Well I said one way on the phone and you told me $44.99 not $100. The location was not well maintained. The woman helping had a terrible attitude and was unprofessional. There were animals running around the parking lot. When I found my vehicle I had to squeeze into it and noticed a weird smell. Also there were cigarette ashes all on the driver side door, hair and dirt all over the passenger seat, dirt covered the floor, and the back was dirty as well.Cory R.

Looked like a junkyard / used car lot. The attendant(s) or personnel appeared to be friendly, as well as helpful. Told us that our rental was given away the day before our arrivalâ€¦ Not at all happy about having to travel outside of Winchester to MARTINSBURG, WV to pickup the UHaul after driving 4plus hours from Chesapeake, VA. We made reservations for the UHaul truck 2 months in advance...well in advance! To get to the WV location and find out that you all gave our truck away at the Winchester location to someone elseâ€¦have us travel outside the previous selected location just before our arrival for pickup is totally unprofessional and disrespectful. We do not and did not deserve to be treated so poorly. We should be reimbursed fully.Robert T.
