Awful. I had a reservation confirmed for the location on 1130 NE Holladay St in Portland for 10am, the reservation was for a van for 5 hours. I waited 40 minutes, no one ever showed up at Union Market and Deli, the UHaul dealer. I could see the van parked nearby, but no one ever opened the deli. At 10:40 and with zero other information, I received a text with directions to a different location, the dealer on 4058 N Mississippi Ave Portland. I had a move to make, so I rushed there to pick up the van. Upon arrival, the dealer pulled up my information on the screen. By this time I have lost an hour I should have spent moving. She hands me the key to the van and tells me I have to return it by 2:30 at the latest. A QUARTER OF A TANK OF GAS IN THE VAN. I had to rush to move at least a few large items in the van to the new apartment, return the van and move everything else using my car. AND, I WAS CHARGED FOR GAS. Seriously people, you're UHaul not a mom and pop shop, you're not cheap, to say this sucks is an understatement. One of the worst experiences ever. Zero stars if I could.

The location was terribly hard to find, resulting in a late pickup. The check-in instructions were unclear, which also delayed pickup, resulting in us not getting all of our stuff moved in the time we rented for. It was a horrible experience.

The person that was working at Clarence Walker for Flowers was very nice. I can't complain about her effort of good service. The overall experience was one of the most frustrating I've had in a long time though. First, I didn't reserve our van with this location. I reserved it somewhere else, I signed up for scan-and-go pick up and I confirmed the pick up the night before using the U-Haul app – which I was told I had to download in order to do scan-and-go pick up. However, the next day on the way to pick up our van I logged in to the app to go over the scan-and-go procedure and it listed an address I had never seen before. I called the number for the location and the peson said they didn't actually have vehicle pick up but that was a frequent mistake. I then checked the website and it listed my original location. So I arrived at the location and they said they didn't know anything about me. I showed them the confirmation for the pick-up on the U-Haul website and they said it didn't matter because all of their vehicles were spoken for. After some confusing and frustrating phone calls they told me that my van was in fact at the location the app was listing. I told them the peson there said they didn't even have vehicles and they said that's my pick up location and they couldn't do anything else for me. So I called the person *again* and this time she said, "Oh, we actually do have your van." I never found out why she told me they didn't have vehicles the first time. I asked the people at the location I was at how they could just not have my van at the agreed upon location and they said this is what U-Haul does. They double-book and then move people to other locations as necessary. You would think they would at least contact me and let me know they were doing this instead of letting me show up and have no idea what's going on along with the check-out staff who also have no ideas what's going on. Thank god I padded my schedule with an extra 90 minutes. So, now 30 minutes later than expected, we drove to a new location for which I did not agree on and for which the website still said was not the pick up location. Once there, I was told my contract no longer allowed scan-and-go pick up so I had to go inside to check out. I was also told there would now be additional fees. So on top of the surprise re-location, the final bill was $76 more than I was quoted on the website (some were additional fees and some were hidden fees) but that's just something I've come to expect from U-Haul so at least I was ready for that. I've always considered U-Haul to be the de facto choice for moving vehicles but I'm definitely going to be looking into alternatives now. This was atrocious and it ruined the first half of my day.

The location was great, but the UHAUL mobile part of the experience was HORRIBLE. The extra phone call (that could have been done ahead of time) and other hurdles that took a long time at that specifically (and predictably) stressful moment when your customer least wants to deal with it...right before you set out in the rented vehicle... Also, the checkboxes on the mobile page did not work! So the person at the location ended up having to check me out anyway, and I had to waste a lot of time for nothing and pay extra because the web page didn't work. So in summary, great marks for the location, very poor marks for the UHAUL mobile process.

I used the contact free pickup. i will never rent from uhaul again. If I were you, I would not use the 24/7 pickup! The manager at this place had to help me anyway. He was the BEST! Uhaul app and 800 custmer service were a huge FAIL!

There was nothing inherently wrong with the location, but rather the after hours pick up process for uhaul was pretty awful. Sending instructions on where to find the truck before arriving would help. Also uploading my license and approving my account prior to standing in a dark, cold alley late at night would also make the process better. The whole thing took a lot longer than it should have.

The workers had no idea how to work computer, and kept complaining about uhaul. Along with regarding on not knowing how to type in my information. I told them which vehicle I wanted and they tried to give me the wrong one. And complained when I asked them to fix it. The truck key was broken so badly that I couldn't even lock to truck, which made me uncomfortable leaving my stuff moving in a unlocked car. The car was dirty and clearly hadn't been cleaned from a long time. I was waiting for for 30 minutes watching them complain and not understand how to check me in. Overall was a terrible experience and actually thought about leaving and loosing money.

I attempted to use the mobile check in option. My reservation was at 7pm, after spending 30 minutes at the vehicle in a failed attempt to upload my picture onto the app due to the apps malfunction (It wouldn't upload pictures with my Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus but eventually it worked with my friends iPhone) I called customer service. I spent over 30 minutes on hold. So at this point I was standing outside, in an alley way, in the dark, for an hour and still haven't gotten into the vehicle yet. When I finally reached a representative I spoke with a very kind, helpful, and patient young women who's name unfortunately I can't remember but she was great and eventually got me into the rental. I had to give Uhual a number to someone who can "verify" my rental. I do not understand the purpose of this step. Anyone with 2 phones and a willingness to lie can get around this step and it serves no reasonable purpose. However when my friend who was with me received the verification call I was the one to answer his phone and I had the misfortune of speaking with James who was rude and unhelpful. When I came to drop off the vehicle the key don't physically fit in the drop box so I had to just lock the keys back in the original box I got them out of. Side note: Random homeless man threaten to kill me while I was waiting for all this. Maybe this alley way isn't the safest location for a pick up. ~Fix your app ~Improve your customer service with James Moving is stressful enough, Uhaul doesn't need to make it worse. I spent more time trying to get into the truck then I did using it.

Unfortunately our moving experience with Uhaul was horrendous. I did the 24 hour truck share and when we went to return our truck, the app shut down. We were unable to correctly return the truck after use. After fiddling with the app for 15 minutes, we were stuck on hold for customer service even longer. After waiting in the dark next to our truck on hold, the customer service representative was out right rude. The only thing she could tell us was that we weren't doing anything correctly, we didn't sign in correctly and we didn't even try to return the truck. She ended up just putting a notification on our account saying we returned the truck. I'm very disappointed because I've used and enjoyed this service 2-3 other times for my past moves. I cannot say I'll use this service again or recommend this.

When we went to the truck the staff did not come with us to verify that there was no damage and that the fuel tank was correctly marked on the form. We checked the vehicle and the gas was below the mark that they stated it was at (by a quarter of a tank). We were in a hurry to get to our location and the staff was already assisting the next customer so we decided to mark the form provided with the correct gas amount. When we returned the truck there was no staff to check us in. We left a note about the gas. They did not honor our note and we were charged almost $30 for not returning the gas to where they incorrectly said it was at. We had driven less than 10 miles and the gas meter had not moved from where it was when we picked up the vehicle. The staff also spoke poorly of other uhaul locations. I felt the staff was unprofessional

No walk through with the vehicle was done. I was told there was a 1/4 tank of gas so I returned it with almost half and was charged $61 for gas because in the system the truck had a little over half tank. I have called to complain and nothing is being done about it. I won't ever use this again.

Not friendly, not easy to find, nothing was explained to us, insurance was offered but the coverage was not explained, the clerk didn't use correct info on drivers lisence and ultimately we were charged for damage that we did not know wouldn't be covered with insurance that was charged. DO NOT BUY THE INSURANCE AS IT IS A SCAM.

Purpose of the rental was to haul my son's 14' power boat stored in North Portland to a donation site in Fairview (30 miles round trip). This would require a pickup truck with trailer lights connection and a receiver trailer hitch with a 1 & 7/8” trailer hitch ball. Being we live in the Beaverton area it made sense to rent from a UHaul located in North Portland ($.69 a mile). Looked online and found one on at 105 North Killingsworth. Being a phone number was not on the website (weird) I called my regular UHaul on TV highway for the phone number. A helpful individual answered, had my records from prior rentals and volunteered to set it up for the North Portland site. I told him the requirements above – he said no problem and the reservation was made. Arrived at the site at 11:45am. Reservation was ready but they did not have a 1 & 7/8 trailer hitch ball. The lady, very helpful, called around and found a UHaul on Columbia Blvd who had the correct receiver trailer hitch ball. We rented the truck there (big mistake) and then went to 955 N. Columbia Blvd to get the receiver hitch. Columbia Blvd had the receiver hitch and ball but could not let us use it . It could only be used on their trucks. I offered to put down a deposit to insure it would be returned. No. they would rent us their truck but we were already $25 into the truck I had. I could however, buy a receiver hitch and ball for $31.00. Don't the rental trucks come with a trailer hitch? What do I do with my $31.00 receiver hitch and ball when I am done with it? Perhaps a paper weight or a conversation piece on the coffee table. “What's that Bruce? Glad you asked, let me tell you the UHaul story”. My son had a receiver hitch and 1 7/8 ball at home in Beaverton. We drove back, in heavy traffic, got the hitch and returned. Put on the hitch and hooked up the boat. The tail light plug on the truck had about 3” of leader wire. Way too short. Got some wire and tape and spliced the hookup from the trailer to reach the truck. Had to do some maintenance before the trailer was roadworthy. It was getting late, called Killingworth regarding closing time. 4:00pm. We wont be back by then – how do we return the truck? Can I drop it at another site which is open? No. It has to be returned to this site. Am told there is a key box at the location and an online return web site for smart phones. Delivered the boat. Returned at 5:45pm with the gas tank filled. The generic web site design leaves much to be desired. Not user friendly. My smart phone skills are rather limited. This should have been a unique website designed only for truck return. I called the after hours number, got in contact with a helpful lady name Christian (appropriately named). She said to protect myself, take some time stamped pictures of the truck, the fuel gauge and odometer. She kindly logged the truck in, I drop the keys in the lockbox with a detailed note and depart. What initially seemed like an excellent first encounter was soured by the nickel and dime that took place charging me for a gallon of gas at nearly $5/gal when it was brought back exactly at the level it was given to me. I even took a picture of the gas gauge I can provide to prove the level that was brought back was not the level I was charged. Very disappointing and will not be coming back.

The owner of the business came out to help me with my rental. He thought I'd prefer to do it through him rather than through your self check out system. He was right. That self check out system is laborious and frustrating. If I can find a rental company that doesn't make me jump through so many hoops, I'll use them instead.

I see I was charged for the truck being dirty. The truck was dirty when I took it. I literally moved a couch and a loveseat from a condo to the dump. In no way did I have anything dirty in that truck. It's only $10 and I will eat it, but it feels pretty shitty to be charged for a truck that wasn't clean to start with.
