Mentioned to the guy working the desk that I had called uhaul the day before to change the dropoff location within Vancouver to the uhaul location on Dunbar street. He did not say anything and simply kept it at SE Marine drive without letting me know that the location change hadn't gone through. Had to call uhaul again to find out that the Dunbar location didn't have space for the truck. Otherwise the sign in was quite smooth and fast.CLAIRE T.

I ordered the truck from a certain location as month before, then they changed locations 2 days before my pick up. That was so stressful, then when the truck was picked up it had 1/4 tank of gas. Absolutely unacceptable. The truck was a death trap. Every time you put the brakes on it went towards a cliff and then you pumped them and it went into on coming traffic. I paid good money to move a long distance and this experience made my trip unbearable. When we returned the truck we missed calculated the distance and the truck arrived with a 3/4 full tank of gas. No way would they reimburse me for this. I will never use your service again and I will be telling all my family and friends not to use you either. Debbie FisherREECE G.

I dropped it off on the weekend so there wasn't anyone there. No signs or direction for where or how to park it and it was a pretty tight space.BRENDAN W.
Despite a text stating that i could drop the uhaul off after hours, all gates to the address were locked. The drop off location was confusing so i parked the uhaul as best i could and had to find a way to the key drop off location. This added an hour of time to a very long move that was not necessary and very frustrating.Logan H.

We reserved a U-Haul moving truck and auto transport from Marine Drive location. As both were not available there, we were told to pick up the truck from New Westminster and auto transport from Richmond. We got the truck on Thu, Apr.29, but when we called Richmond location, they claimed there was no record of our order and that either myself or my husband had cancelled the order! As there was no trailer available anywhere in the Lower Mainland (or so we were told), we now had to wait another 3 days! I have never encountered such poor customer service.....there seemed to be no communication between different U-Haul locations, and despite them using computers it seemed like no one knew what was going on.....I was supposed to pay $191 for the trailer, but when we finally did get the trailer on May 2 (we were supposed to be in Alberta on May 1), I was charged $445! On top of that, when we dropped off the truck in Alberta, I was asked to pay additional $126, which I refused to pay as they could not explain what the charge was for..... This was supposed to be stress-free move, as we had arranged everything weeks in advance. Thanks to U-Haul it turned out to be a horrible experience. I will never use their services again, and I am now warning everyone I talk to about U-Haul.Karl L.

I have called your customer service department and spent 57 minutes on the phone explaining the situation twice. The truck had damage to it that the website did not show. Damage to the roll up door and passenger side mirror. The cab was filthy!!! There was food on the seats and floor, food packages, used face masks, the centre console was covered in spilled coffee and the dashboard were filthy. The floors were covered in mud! The people running this didn't care! When I pointed it out to them they didn't even offer to clean it!! Just told me to go. They were too busy! I asked to BUY 2 dozen moving blankets and they threw a bunch of dirty used ones in and I said, â€œno I wanted new ones you can't sell me these. They gave what looked like similarly dirty ones just in bags to me instead and only gave me 20, I used only 4, because I am actually moving next week and wanted to be prepared. I returned them all! I picked up new appliances from Costco with this truck and put them in storage. So when I returned the blankets that are marked not for sale, once you unfold them you can see this, I asked why did you sell me these? The Manager Bob said,â€You cannot buy these.â€ I said I know that now but on the website I wanted to buy them and it said I could. I told you I want to BUY not rent them and you said okay. He never looked me in the eye ONCE, probably because he knew what he was doing the whole time! His answer, â€œYou can talk to Uhaul.â€ The truck was parked on an incline and the gas gauge was higher than it should have been the moment I drove away it dropped over an 1/8 of a tank! The owner or manager Bob had to do the paperwork 2-3 times! It took 47 minutes for me to pick up the truck! I rented a utility dolly, they just tossed it in the back unbeknownst to me, the first good turn I took it slid and banged the inside of the box. I immediately pulled over and secured it upright to the side of the box the way it is supposed to be. When I returned it, I was late because of the hour phone call with Uhaul and told Bob about this. And asked why they didn't clean the van. He said, â€œWhen people return at night, we have no time to clean before next person.â€ When I asked him if he didn't see anything wrong with the lack of cleanliness and being far below the standard of any Uhaul I have ever rented he said, â€œYou can talk to Uhaul.â€ He said they for every question I had for him. Oh and I warned the next people waiting for the van I had to get them to clean it cause they were about to rent it to them WITHOUT cleaning it yet again! And their office is disgusting! I asked to use the washroom and it had nothing to dry your hands with at all and only soap for mechanics hands to remove grease. The door handle was wet because nobody can dry their hands. Wiping on your pants is your only option. And there was no sanitizing hand gel anywhere!! This is the most disgusting and disappointing experience I have ever had with Uhaul or any other vehicle rental company ever!!!! Please contact me at 604 319-9655 to discuss this. I do not feel I should be charged for this service. I only took the truck as it was because I had no choice! That is what these people are counting on! Location should be able to contact support and settle any issue with billing's or dispute over billing. I charged extra day because of UHaul admin error but h the guy told me I should be the one calling and he don't have a way to change it.ARIEL M.

UHaul changed my drop location to one 10 kilometres from my reserved drop location less than 24 hours prior to my rental start day and refused to accommodate my needs when I called to discuss. This drop off location is not well marked and no personnel were available to help me (I couldn't find anyone). While trying to find a space to park the truck safely, I was locked into the lot. With some frustration, after about 10 minutes I did find a walk-through gate that wasn't locked so I managed to get out. Because of the new drop location, I had brought my bicycle with me so I would have a way to get to the original drop location (which was in another city). There was no cell service at this location so the UHaul app couldn't locate me thus I had to leave without completing the online check-out process. I did find the safe key drop location and when I called them in the morning they just said that everything was fine. UHaul has horrible customer service. My rental experience cost almost twice what it should have for what is considered by UHaul to be a local move.Shelley L.

The truck only had a quarter tank of gas when they gave it to me. This is not an acceptable way to have equipment delivered to the customer. In this state, the truck is not ready for use. I ordered and expect equipment to be ready to use when I pick it up.Roth H.

Not sure it's a fault of the location but they have incorrectly been listed on here as a location that provides 24/7 pick-up and that's not the case. There's a gate at this location that is locked after 5pm. The shop is also closed on Sundays but the gate was open so I was able to return the truck with no problems because it was before 5pm as there was a drop box on site. I had arranged with u-haul over the phone to pick up the truck at 8pm but arrived on location to see that the gate was locked and my reservation was cancelled. I had to have a chat session with u-haul to find out that my reservation was in person pick-up although I clearly requested an after hours pick up when I called in to book and my confirmation clearly stated that was the case. Luckily I was able to get the same truck the next morning when the shop opened and from there I had no issues.Gurpreet S.

Firstly, our rental which was booked weeks in advance was changed less than 24 hours prior to the arranged pickup. Due to mechanical issues we were not able to get a truck until late afternoon instead of the early morning time as booked. This caused great inconvenience and extended our move until midnight. Seems unacceptable to have no back up vehicle available from any location in our area as a contingency for situations as such. Secondly, I informed the agent that I would be returning the truck after hours. He instructed me where to park it upon return. When arriving after hours the gate to access your facility was locked. So I was forced to turn away and come back again the following day. Again a big inconvenience. The agent was clearly uninformed or didn't care. I have used U Haul in the past however after this experience will not likely ever do so again.LARRY R.

Was pleasant staff, checked over truck carefully thoroughly explained things, quickly acted to top up windshield fluid, checked oils with me etc. On downside office was little messy, covid precautions seemed little relaxed, otherwise awesome experience, great staff.Matthew L.

The tank was under 1/4 when I got it, ideally I like to just refill on my way back. I had to put some in as soon as I got it and again before I dropped it off. A little anoying with the 26 footer but staff where I picked up were great.Brad P.
We took trailer to location on North Street but it was closed. We left the trailer there anyway. When I contacted u-haul they put me thru to the New West location. The agent was extremely understanding and said they would go and pick it up. So helpful to a stupid old lady!Sean K.

Delivered back at night, no signage on main road, 3 of the 4 gates were locked, ended up at rear of the business and again no signage on what to do or where to leave the truck. No back drop box. Very sketchy industrial area to be in at night. Your management should try taking a truck back to this location at night using the same instructions and On line instructions I was given.TIMOTHY S.

No customer parking. Mileage and gas on receipt did not match truck. Had to get it fixed before using. Previous customer did not enter values correctly.Michael H.
Trailer had minor damage all over it. Didn't look like it had been washed in a year or more. Inside had random pieces of rope tied to the sides from a previous user. Safety chains were too long and then just twisted to make up the slack. One was missing a retainer that the staff then went and removed a piece from another trailer to use on this one. Paid for blankets and didn't get them (was refunded). Reserved Dolly's which they said they had 0 of with no alternative or solution offered. Office is a dirty, single room with way to many random, old chairs and 2 desks (one used and 1 not used and piled with stuff). Staff person at the desk was less than friendly (others that came to help were much better). When concerns were brought up he shrugged his shoulders and said call Uhaul.Neale W.

First, the order location was changed to this one. When i went to pick it up, i was met with a very slow person to register the vehicle. He then proceeded to show me the vehicle and left! I went in the driver seat and verified the mileage and that was incorrect. Since I had the option of mobile pickup, i tried updating through there but it gave the error of something like : 'cannot be updated and contact customer representative'. The vehicle itself was good and clean overall. Second, when it was time to drop-off, this issue came up and I had to wait almost 35-45 mins before it was resolved and I got my deposit back. Thankfully i had taken all the photos and screenshots when required. It was just a bit too much after a day of moving.Atif Q.

The entire experience was incredibly disorganized. They had no idea we were coming until he looked into the computer. The truck we wanted wasn't even there. The truck we got didn't have what we paid for in it. We ordered for the drop off time to be 1136pm but I was told that we can't do that. So we were forced to bring it back in the morning. At 10am I was called frantically wondering where I was but there was no specific time they said to bring it in the morning. They just said after 9am. So over all, terrible experience.Bria W.

I asked about the vehicle dimensions and was given the wrong information. It didn't affect me to badly, but I would have liked the info so I could book a reservation for BC ferries wand check if it was oversized in length or height. I also had an issue when returning the vehicle. When uploading the photos required. I would take a picture, then the application would report an error regarding memory. I chose a smaller picture file size which solved the issue Overall I'm really happy and would use uhaul again.Robert B.
BMG was helpful, but unknown to me at the time, they did not close the door properly after showing me the insde. When I got home, the door was stuck and wedged in the open position. I then went to the closest U-Haul location (SW Marine Drive in Vancouver). 4 guys worked on the door together an after 10-min had be back in business. SW Marine Drive guys were true hero's. Would highly recommend U-Haul SW Marine Drive location; exceptional customer service!Richard E.
Overall, I had an extremely disappointing U-Haul rental experience. The pickup location stated on the order confirmation was CLOSED and I had to scramble last minute to find another U-Haul resulting in delay with my move day. This is totally unacceptable! I reserved a 10ft U-Haul truck at March 23rd, with the reservation number: 22268242. The U-Haul was scheduled to be picked up at 11am on April 18th at the Golden Coin Dollar Plus Store. I tried calling the store several times on the day of at around 9:30am, there was no answer. I then called the UHAUL customer service line, they double checked my reservation and informed me that the store opens at 10am and ensure me everything is in order. I then called the Golden Coin Dollar Plus Store again at around 10:15am, there was still no answer. When I got to the store location just before 11am, I find out the store was closed and no U-Haul was available as promised. I then phoned the U-Haul customer service line again and informed them about the situation, she informed me that the store should be open and tried calling the store, but was unsuccessful. She then puts me on hold to try to find another 10ft truck for me, and after a few minutes, she was able to find another truck for me around 20 minutes away. I then rushed to the BMG Auto Repair, and finally they were able to get me a truck, and I was more than 20 minutes late and more than 15 minutes away from where I planned to be. The lady on the phone was extremely helpful and the staff in BMG Auto Repair also got me a truck pretty quickly as well, however, my entire moving day was delayed by almost 45 minutes due to this incident. Please kindly get back me to regarding this incident. Thanks for your time. RexRex Y.

Terrible location to pick up Uhaul from. Employees were rude and even though I had prepaid insisted I pay again as it didn't show in their system. I had to call Uhaul customer service in front of the incompetent staff for them to lift a finger. Also, didn't have the furniture dolly I requested at booking. Seems minor but makes moving a major hassle. Absolutely stay away from this location.Alexander E.

Don't change anything this location was more than accommodating when we were not able to unpack the truck into the storage location the night we came back to the mainland, I called him as soon as his location opened and when he heard why we were so late he told me we could return the truck any time before 4PM when he closes. The truck was originally to be returned at 10AM and the storage location didn't open until 9AM so getting it back on time was simply not possible. He certainly made the end of the trip with a UHAUL truck much better than the pick up had been. Truck was even swept out when we got it.Marian F.

What an experience from the get go. I tried to use the mobile pick up app for the first time as this location is super close to my place and the only one that had a uhaul available on the day that we needed it. Went to the place to look for the truck but the app did not specify if it was in the back or in the front. We obviously went to the front of the shop as we saw a bunch of uhauls parked there. I asked one of the employees to help us locate the truck and he told us that we should've went to the back. I told and showed him it did not specify that on the app. Otherwise, I would have gone there instead. They brought the truck, we took pictures and drove away. Come 7PM, we returned the truck but their gates were closed - both in the front and back. No way for us to bring the truck in so we left it in the front, NOT blocking the entrance at all (I'm sure you can see the pictures on your end). The app told us to drop the keys in their drop box but how can we do that when their drop box is inside? LOL! so we kept it because we didn't know where to put it and we did not want the truck getting stolen. The shop was closed on Sunday so we decided we will return the keys on Monday. I was called by Angela from Uhaul and was being asked where the keys were. I told her I will get my bf to return it at 11AM. This was already a hassle on our end since we were not told where to leave the keys in the first place. We were actually doing this shop a favour than anything. Come 2PM, Angela calls me again threatening that they have the tow truck coming and that we didn't follow the instructions to leave the keys under the seat. I was floored! I understand I promised 11AM but it's out of my hands what my bf did with the info I gave him. I was at work and could not do anything. I asked her why she was saying this when it was their fault from the beginning? She said to get my bf to come in 20 minutes or else I will be charged for the towing. My bf came there to return the keys and he was asked by the employee to bring the truck in so they can inspect. WOW! hahaha just wow! My bf basically told them to do it themselves as this has caused has a great deal of hassle and stress. Also, part of the mobile pick up was providing pictures of the truck once it's returned, you idiots! I called Uhaul customer service right away and spoke with Dimitri about this horrible experience. 15 mins after, I received a call from Angela apologizing for their mistake that I was right - they did not specify where to leave the keys and that they're only charging me for the rental amount and the gas. Thank you for doing that but this should serve you guys a lesson to read your notes prior to anything. I wasted almost an hour of my working time to deal with you guys. 0 customer service!Roseller S.
Drop-off is not well organized. Self-drop off application is not flexible, and required I completed at location and this was not clear. When I proceeded to complete the self-drop-off moment later when I was no longer at the location, I was unable to upload the photos that I had taken while at the drop-off locationChad L.
Limited parking, horrible staff. They will try to scam you for cash fees and intentionally misread your fuel levels. If you do go to this location my advice would be to do everything you can via the website, photograph everything, and don't be afraid to demand all "fees" be in writing.Jordan P.

The answers to the questions above have merit for the drop off location; however, in general the u haul experience wasn't great. Despite significantly closer uhaul locations I was made to return the truck quite far away. Mainly though, the allowed (and charged for) kilometers I received was a lot more than I used and despite that the rate stayed the same.Simon V.
