Truck smelled like cigarettes and was sticky and overall didn't feel clean. AC was not working correctly and when it was it was smoke to the face. Trying to use mobile pickup was not easy at all, kept saying I wasn't at the location I needed to be at. The packing blankets we rented were smelly and some were sticky and gross. The overall experience was not great compared to times in the past at other locations.Sheldon P.

First, this review is not an indication of the service provided at the Bluegrass Parkway site. This is the site I had to drive out of the way to, to get our rental truck as the U-Haul rental hub in Clarksville Indiana did NOT honor our truck reservation and did not notify us that they did not have a truck for us. We had to drive 30 miles (over and back) over to Louisville to pick up this truck. We incurred the additional mileage and cost of fuel and bridge tolls due this (~$40 in additional costs). The Clarksville unit didn't even try to work with us and put us in another truck. Blaming the issue on not having enough trucks on site for their reservations and the statement of 'we are very busy on the weekends'. They didn't even apologize, just told us we had to go to the other site. The vehicle we rented (15 ft box truck) is very aged and run down. Over 160K miles. Suspension was very poor as the steering wheel would shake when hitting bumps in the road. AC only worked intermittently. While to folks at the Bluegrass site were helpful and understanding of my situation, I will not be using U-Haul in the future. Was extremely disappointed in the Clarksville Indiana site, which is a main U-Haul rental and storage facility. When we were turned away, they had over 25 trucks on the lot. But was told that they were either reserved or broken down. Yet my reservation made online 4 days earlier was not honored.Sean R.

From my own personal experience at 10000 Bluegrass Pkwy location in the Blue grass industrial center, the manager set a nasty tone by castigating me for picking up a 17 foot truck at his location instead of the 539 Lyndon Ln. location. I'd never have wanted to rent a vehicle that counts your miles which, by the way, add 5 - 8 miles away from a closer location near where you need it. Then I had to show him that UHaul decided to have me pick up the truck 10 miles away from where I specifically asked to have it available for me that was not only closer to my move location, but was not prepeared with the supply of a half-dozen blankets printed clearly on my form. No, what he wanted to do was direct my attention to a fuel gauge which, of the 8 times I've rented a truck, usually is at half a tank. But he didn't check it when the prior leaser returned it nearly empty. It was his JOB to check the gauge and miles, and to charge that user for having the truck returned with a near-empty tank. It would have made it necessary for them to refill the tank out of consideration to the next truck renter, and have them bring it back showing the same fuel level that made it safe to drive awhile before having to get gas. He contends that the feul gauge was at just under half-full, which as I pointed out, is customary. But it was precariously close to the big "E" on the gauge, and left me sweating bullets 'til I could get off the major highway I was on. But I added $44.40 of Regular enthanol to put the guage at just over half. Even though my estimate was off 18 miles ( all due to the location where they can apply this penalty --- way off the beaten track. I confronted him about it, but he had learned his 'Trump loser' lines and alleged some ' ridiculous, small print' caveat that ACTULLY REQUIRED ME TO REPORT THE STARTING FEUL GAUGE READING. I'd like to put that fellow in my shoes ---- just for a day, so he could realize what a drag it is renting from UHaul in the first place. I despise the over-charge, and advise each and everyone one who rents from this location to be aware of how this fellow 'man handles' the client, who...if the renter is like me, who already stressed and uncertain about it and doesn't need the extra tension that he created. My advice: ---stick with the program, quick slacking, and show more concern for the client than the bully who's only thinking of himself. P.S Certain parties must take their job more seriously, even if it is the "orange box" you're renting..Bill J.

Online I was able to reserve truck for 7:30AM using phone pick up. Day off, I was there to pick up at 7:30 and reservation was changed to 9AM for in person pick up only. I had to leave and come back to pick up. I also reserved an appliance dolly, there was not an appliance dolly or a regular dolly available. This was very frustrating and will not be using this location again. Very poor customer service & you shouldn't allow someone to book items not available or times not available for pick up.Nolan D.

Reservation was for 8:00 am - 2:00 PM. Vehicle wasn't ready so I had to wait for them to open at 9:00. Return time was not adjusted. I had paid labor waiting on me running 1 hour late. This is the 3rd time I have rented in recent weeks and was by far the worst experience. Ironically, the vehicle was in the best condition of the 3 I have rented.Ben H.

The truck was not taken care of. It was really diety and smelled like a cigarette. The cigarette smell was so bad I had to keep windows open and air off the whole trip for my pickup that was an hour each way. The door handle was busted off. The dolly and therefore dozen blankets I ordered were not in the truck. The truck was not clean. The truck had a lot of damage. The brakes did not engage well. There were a lot of rattles in the cab of the truck when driving it. The tires were bald. The check-in did not go smoothly as, the app was unavailable at 6 o'clock in the morning when I was trying to pick up the truck. It finally started working but it took me an hour just to sign in and get the truck. I had to drive back to the U-Haul location two hours later to pick up blankets. I used the app and apparently what I can order on the app is not same as what is offered at the location I got my truck. I am allowed only I type of dolly at a time yet I'm allowed on the app to order more which is what I needed. The abs light was on the whole time I drove the truck. My personal vehicle was blocked when I went to return the rental truck. Had to pay for an Uber to from there since I was not able to get out from all the rental trucks I will recommend other companies services and will not be coming back You are far too expensive for me this qualityMATT L.

Do more internal cleaning or find a way to reward customers for cleaning the unit. Previous renters had left straw in our unit which made it difficult to haul apartment goods. We had to clean the unit at the apartment complex. I have a picture of the pile of straw we removed. Unit also had a cracked windshield. Positives of the experience included the friendliness of the staff, their ability to provide the rental on short notice (Penske tried to substitute a bigger vehicle on the day of the rental which wouldn't fit in the apartment complex's garage.), and the newness of the van. I will always check with U-Haul first because of their response to our last minute request.curtis S.

I had to go out of my way to the Jeffersontown location when I reserved for the Anchorage location. The employee who spoke to me on the phone was extremely rude as well. I will never be using Uhaul again. The Jeffersontown location was gross, my truck was dirty, and the process was extremely slow. The moving help they recommended was also awful. This will be the last time I ever use UhaulClaire K.
