First and most your representative doesn’t give much instructions, she has no good customer service. The place was small . It was a little difficult for my first time customer.

this place is close to me but the wen from the morning it was a little rude specially it was my first time to rent a U-haul
Evelin PPicking up before office hours and trying to get the code to unlock a rusty combo lock was a pain. Had to go through the reservation process three times in order to get the code and then the lock was rusted and had to be jammed off in order to open. As others have said, when I returned I handed the keys to a lady who was condescending and snatched the keys from me and then a second later lost them in a pile of papers. Accused me of stealing the keys and I had to point out where she threw them on her desk. I’d rather go to Woodside for a rental than a back alley U-Haul
Brian JThe lady at Big City Auto Body was rude and unprofessional. She was yelling the whole time and made me feel like her slave and not a customer. That lady is not happy with her job. I already set everything up online and scanned my driver's license, all we have to do is pick up the truck. When we got there the lady redo a whole new reservation so it took another 30 minutes which is unnecessary. That lady needs training in customer service and familiarity with the Uhaul online check in.
Jon PThe UHaul van itself was fine--exactly what I expected. Big City Auto, on the other hand, was awful. The place is filthy, literally like a hoarders house. There was no restroom. The service was unpleasant to an extreme. Gruff, defensive, angry and unhelpful. Never left their seat, behind a glass window. Didn't say hello or goodbye or thank you. Instead, grumbled and growled. I previously rented from a UHaul elsewhere--in that case, it was a UHaul owned location--and had the opposite experience. I could never use this location again or recommend it.

Rebecca GLike other reviews have said, the staff was disorganized and did not have very good customer service. The van had mud all over the rear and the inside wasn’t super clean. Otherwise the van worked fine. Had to go to Woodside for storage units later anyways, MUCH better service there.
Norman HAs other reviews of the location on google maps indicate, the woman who runs the place is absolutely awful. Maybe the most miserable person I’ve had to interact with. Yelled at me and disrespected me when I picked up. If U-haul has any care for customer experience you should really look into this, totally unacceptable.

During the return process, the app kept crashing on me and, I was not able to upload the photos that are required to close out the reservation. I recommend reserving your U-Haul while the location is open or else the return process might be more difficult. Overall, it was a quick and positive experience. I’ve used this location now 3 times and have never had an issue! Thanks!
William HThe people working in this place were the rudest folks I’ve ever had to deal with. Forget about customer service, they don’t even have a tiny bit of human decency and basic behavior. I was barked at after asking simple questions related to the rental, like “where can I return the car”, “could I have a cart”. The owner casually dropped racial slurs while describing his immediate neighborhood, without being asked. I’m white btw, but I can just imagine how they’d treat minorities.
Gjergj JIt was fine -- they didn't have the extra equipment I requested but they took it off the bill. I just don't think the staff understands that not everyone rents U-Hauls on the regular. I have never done it before, so how would I magically understand their specific procedure? The attitude I received when I wasn't in-the-know was uncalled for, but Ralph (the owner) was nice.

Ting ZThe passenger side side-view mirrors could not be adjusted to the correct position to be able to see properly. I needed someone in the passenger seat to watch for bicyclists and other cars/vehicles approaching while I drove to feel safe. It was a congested city are in NY. The return process took more than 40 min due to the link not accepting my photos. Calls to U-Haul for gel took up most of that time. Waiting. There is minimum parking in the location. But it was a good location for my needs at the time.
Kevin TJust the opposite of my pick-up experience, the drop-off experience was very unpleasant. The lady at the window was exceptionally rude and not at all helpful. Even though I have faithfully chosen U-Haul for my past rentals, my experience at this location will cause me to consider other options the next time I rent.

I felt disrespected upon both pickup and drop-off. The office representative was rude, inattentive, and failed to give me the instructions I needed (and in turn reprimanded me for not knowing the instructions I was supposedly told upon U-Haul return). Additionally, the blatant public display of political affiliation throughout the office (completely visible to customers) was off-putting, to say the least. I will not be recommending this location to friends or family.

Jeff FI paid online as I always do before coming to this location. The woman at the desk tried to charge me again. I told her I paid online and she finally looked up my reservation. She then tried to charge me for things I did not ask for. When I dropped off my UHaul they asked me to once again pay the $400 I had already paid them. I recommend going to an official UHaul location.

I later asked her a question and she ignored me completely, acting like she could not hear me. She also treated the customer in front of me poorly as well. The price I was quoted online was lower than what I got although I didn’t get the furniture pads. She didn’t care to explain saying “I’m just telling you what I’m seeing”.

When I returned the truck, I asked her a question and she raised her voice and told me she already explained this to me. I had to call the 800 Customer service and they kindly helped me with my issue. The Customer service representative at the Long Island City location behaved unprofessional and should be sent to be fully trained in Customer service. She did not care about the customer. She couldn't be bothered to help. I was very shocked and so disappointed that I was treated so disrespectful by this person who represents Uhaul.

I had no idea where it was okay to leave the UHaul, and at one point during my move, I was contacted by someone from UHaul and left a voicemail that was super hard to understand that probably had more instructions for the drop off location. When I got to the drop off location I was having trouble with the UHaul app - the app malfunctioned and finished the process for me before I was actually done. Since I was having some trouble, I tried contacting all of the various numbers that had reached out to me during the day from UHaul and no one answered any of them. Including the number that called me earlier in the day with the garbled voicemail. I finally got in contact with someone via the UHaul app, but by that time, someone who (I assume the man that runs the location) came up to me and my friends and started yelling at us about the bad parking job that we had done and telling us that we weren't in the right spot and was just generally really rude. All while I was on the phone with UHaul trying to figure out what happened with the app. I had to step away from him and finished talking to the representative over the phone (who was very helpful) and finally managed to return the keys. But at the behest of getting yelled at by this random man who didn't even introduce himself when he walked up to us - we had NO idea who he was.

The chat function does not work and I had to call twice to get the reservation finished. This put me an hour behind schedule. When returning the van, I also had app crashing issues and it took forever. Also, the people at this location are not particularly helpful or understanding. The actual van and moving was fine but pickup and drop off make me want to use a different company next time.

She comment a very racist comment saying that “people like me kept stealing the van/truck” as soon I dropped it off , I parked next to the shop where there’s absolutely no “parking spot “ and the owner yelled at me told me to go find another spot . I drove and park at the exactly same spot I first pick up the van from and guess what happened as I came back ? They both flipped out and said no ! Park at the corner and told me “ I don’t listen “ I didn’t not liked that comment as a deaf person . I would take my money somewhere else! Horrible owners and the place was dirty as heck .

She was incredibly difficult to understand and on top of that could not clearly communicate - ie where to park the truck etc. Another customer was present with me and she told me that she tries never to rent from this location because this lady is "always nasty". Further when my daughter went down the next am to retrieve something I left in the truck, I called her explaining what was left and my daughter indicated that the lady pulled the phone away from her ear and was not listening and making a face as if she was annoyed. Worst customer service and I will never rent from this location again.

There is STREET PARKING ONLY for returning vehicles on a street with multiple areas you are prohibited from parking in and that are subject to fines. On top of this, absolutely terrible, truly abysmal, customer service at this location. Not only would I not recommend this location, I am going to actively discourage people from going there. Horrible horrible horrible rental location: DON'T GO TO THIS LOCATION.
