The 20ft U-Haul truck was surprisingly easy to drive. Lots of power, no slowing down on hills. The automatic was very easy and did very well. Heater worked well. FYI ... I found you could turn the TOW/Load off while in motion. Two other comments. The headlights on this truck are too high. High beams are not pointed correctly. So high as to be ineffective. Not interested in the trees above the road. The ramp was OK but a lift tailgate would have been nice for heavier items.
Herbert SIt was great to have a human to schedule this rental. I originally booked a truck on line to pick up in Peterborough NH. I canceled that order because of the difficulty's of getting a key to the truck.

GLENN BWhen picked up the van the rental location did not have it ready. I had to remove giant rent me sign from the front windshield. I dropped the rental van one day earlier as scheduled, but wasn't able to check the van return as the Uhaul web app was not loading the odometer and fuel gauge photos requested. After trying for more than 30 minutes I gave up and left the keys in the drop box. I was changed additional $20 for manual return by not my fault Uhaul application had malfunction. Very disappointing experience. Will look at other rental options in the future.

We brought it right to their attention and they didn't fix it, verify it or anything other than if I received disclosure of some type. Not professional people here and I wouldn't go back...for anything.

Wayne SI don't know about the next customer, but UHaul could make more trucks available at their Peterborough, NH location, which is much closer to me. Picking up from Milford adds time and cost to my rental. This is, of course, no knock on Balcom Brothers.
ROBERT HI was shocked at how high I was charged for such a small truck! $105!!
SHAUN PI cleaned it out completely with a broom and got charged for cleaning fee.. I got it with less gas then what I put in.. I had more gas in when I returned it then I had when I got it in the beginning

Willow TTeach all the staff how to do a UHaul rental transaction before you have them try to do it with a customer! We did everything online to save time for a tight schedule that morning, then ended up standing there for an hour while the guy tried to figure out how to process it. Then he gave me the wrong key, the wrong van with all the wrong info on the paperwork. (The right info for the right van) I checked the plate numbers and saw it matched another van so I went back inside. He was going to redo all the paperwork but someone else yelled over to him to just give me the right key for the right van. (This person also saw the guy struggling to process this and never came over to help him!) I'm assuming he was new so, lack of training was probably the real issue here. When I returned the van, there was one girl at the desk in the office who said she was too busy to receive the van in. She acted annoyed that I was standing there, wasn't very friendly & said when she had time she'd look at the van and send me an email. Overall the check-in/check-out process was a bad experience but, the van was in good condition & exactly what I needed which is why I gave 2 stars.
Melody FI wish that the hitch size was easy to find when viewing trailers online. We did not have the right one and had to leave to buy one and return. Minor inconvenience but they adjusted the drop off time so it worked out

JAMES PThe U-Haul app is terrible. Please delete the entire thing and start over from the begging. Ever location I have tried to use the app to return equipment has the worst cell service. How about requiring the locations to have guest WiFi. The app would still be terrible but at least I could fight my way through it.

Michelle AI've had a great experience with this business in the past. Unfortunately this entire rental was a frustrating experience. It was a perfect storm of a Sunday rental and the business being closed. The Uhaul app would not work for us (perhaps its the lack of service in the area). After 25- 30 minutes we attempted to call the after-hours number only to be directed by them to 1800-go Uhaul. We were caller number 22 and had a 30 minutes wait which was time we didn't have. 3 phones and a crazy amount of time later we were able to leave the parking lot with our uhaul. We had a similar experience returning the UHAUL van with the app. Unfortunately I think this experience would prevent us from renting from a place where a human wasn't present again.
Tarryn WUhaul app was glitchy for Safari and necessitated a call to the 800 number which was quite busy on Black Friday. Set us back about an hour on the day's schedule.

Paul MWhile the van ran very well, it was in need of a good vacuum and the windshield was really dirty - unfortunately the washer fluid was either empty or broken. Otherwise, I will be back when I need a rental. Thank you - Karl

Mitchell PI'd selected mobile checkin/checkout, but the website refused to recognize my location even though I explicitly allowed my location to be shared with the Uhaul website. The staff on-site took care of everything, and after hours return worked well. It would have been an issue if we picked up the van outside office hours, but everything worked out.
