The key return box didn't have a slot wide enough to fit the key fob. I could see some people had bent the box and fit the key fob in and there were little bits of scraped off plastic from the key fobs to prove it had probably damaged them. I couldn't figure out how to get it in so I dropped the key in the mail slot for the front door. When I tried to call Astoria mini storage to leave them a message so they knew where to find the key the message machine was full. That could not possibly have happened in one night and is very bad customer service to not be able to leave a message, especially in a business where the employees are away from the desk frequently like a mini storage/ car rental place. Called uhaul customer service and it was going to be a 20 minute phone wait to get to talk to someone at 7:45 am. Glad they got the key but it made me nervous it would get lost and I would have to deal with that.Lisa S.

At check out , after handing over the keys, I was told that everything was all set and could go. 4 days later a receipt for 4 times the amount was emailed to me, and that charge was pending in my account. I had to contact uhaul, they explained that I had been charged for a 4 day rental despite having used the uhaul for 4 hours only. Uhaul customer service was great, and Michael was very kind. He explained the dispute process, and let me know the window in which it would take, and made a bad experience a little better. I got a text later that evening to let me know that I was getting a refund for the portion I should not have been charged from uhaul. I am not aware obviously of the system process, but hopefully there i some way to improve this, and prevent this issue from happening to other families.Coral A.

Prior to this visit, I had no major complaints. In this case, the vehicle type I wanted (pickup or cargo van) was not available, the computer systems were not working so I could not get the vehicle I reserved. Then after waiting over an hour for the computer problems to be resolved, I got a vehicle with no gas and after driving to the nearest station discovered that the fuel line had been cut. There were 2 uncleaned vehicles available, but the computer was down again so the agent said I was out of luck, after almost 2 hours of wasted time.Bryan S.

Truck was dirty and way too expensive. Rental process was a pain. Waited on hold for over an hour to get some information the chat person could have given me.John C.
The online reservation didn't work. I had a bad feeling so I checked and was told it said I was going to drop the truck off in Lake Oswego and he didn't have a 15 foot truck for me Friday 6/17 & couldn't offer me any discount to make up for what would now be 2 trips and double the mileage. When I arrived on Friday they were closed for lunch at the time I had said I would be there to pick up the truck. So I had to pay 4 movers to stand around doing nothing. Then he tries to operate the computer which he has to start over 3 times. Tells me he now does have a 15 foot truck, but oh no, it has been siphoned. When I finally go to refill the truck I put too much in but oh well! I go to drop it off and I am supposed to check it in online. But that isn't working either!! So I drop my keys and contract in after taking photos and hoped for the best. I can't get anyone on the phone to give me a discount for such ridiculous "service". The one guy I talked with finally tells me He can't help me, I'll have to call another area of the company. Truck worked great. Reserving, getting, and returning it took me over 2 hours! After I filled out all of the necessary information online, including uploading photos of the front and back of my driver's license, I had to go through the whole process again when I arrived at the pickup facility. Otherwise my experience would have been much better. I would guess that this is a problem, not with the pickup location, but with the reservation system of U-Haul.Allan M.

When we picked it up the truck was dirty and unswept out. I went back in and mentioned all the dents and scratches, I was told this was the local beater truck and I was covered with the insurance (I took pictures just incase). there was a pink sticky substance on the outside driver door. when we returned it we swept out the truck but I wasnt going to touch that disgusting sticky stuff on the driver door. Just got the receipt with a cleaning charge $50.Christopher N.
The equipment was great. For some reason, this location decided to charge me a cleaning fee after I returned the vehicle and left, even though I had only used it to move items fully contained in cardboard boxes. Fortunately, U-Haul corporate looked into this and refunded the cleaning fee promptly. Thank you for that, but I'm not sure I'd use that location again.Brett M.
Had your two man labor force called late the night before to cancel on me. Called U-Haul they told me someone would show up Monday morning another no show. The guy running this place sits on his tablet and let's you do the work. Make sure your rental is 1. Clean 2. Correct mileage 3. Double check the gas gauge... (Make sure there's,no beef jerky and food behind the seats) My first time renting and they taught me how to deal with sleaze bags. He over charged on as many things as he could. It took me over 2 hours of my time to get it straightened out through customer Service. I reserved a van (they have that guarantee) they did not want to give me the credit. Very unprofessional the way this was... Just be careful and make certain they are doing their job!Chelsae P.

I had to ask for help to connect the very large trailer to my hitch at pickup. Upon return I was on my own while the person at the desk sat and watch videos. I will avoid this location as much as possible in the future. Btw, the Gearhart location has amazing service.MARY G.

The agent on site went out of his way to help me outside of business hours and I got to my apartment just as the movers arrived, but I could have scheduled my movers differently or picked up the truck the night before if my reservation time change had been sent to me in time to change my plans. I've never had a truck rental go smoothly, but have received help on-site to remedy the problems. Customers should utilize the 24-hour-long rental time and pick up their truck at least 2 hours early to avoid last-minute problems.Sarah J.

Staff was very polite and informative, as usual. Truck had an empty soft drink can in the cab which started rattling around the second day. Truck was reasonably clean. There was one minor downside in that as soon as I started the engine, the warning light indicated the truck was due for an oil change. I did forget to inform the staff of that,....but they do record the mileage at each transaction.SCOTT R.
Notice of 20% rent increase dated 1/27/22. My rent due on the 4th or 5th of each month. I had not yet received notice of increase on 2/5/22 when I had to drive down there to make a payment because your phone system did not work. It would have helped to know ahead of time what would be needed for the mobile pickup. And I had absolutely no idea that I needed to do anything for mobile drop off. I have used U-Haul afterhours numerous times and just dropped the keys in the box, which is what I did this time. Waking up to an email that I needed to turn the truck in was alarming. The whole process felt really messy and confusing. Better communication would have helped 1,000,000%.Kori D.

How about not trying to charge my card for two additional days after I had dropped it back off for the one paid day right on time. Also he just tells me to drop it where it was pick up'd and expect me to be able to lift of the ball in which I wasn't strong enough so I had to go in and ask him to help and he acted like meeeehhhh I'll be there in a few mins. I ask him to inspect it and he says we're all good and he'll take care of it and then I'm billed for two more days in which the 3rd day hadn't even come yet. Plus trying to take my money without my authorization. And then when I try to call him a tad after 5pm when they are closed to try to leave a message asking what's the deal? Voicemail box is full. I have a couple more problems with the guy working at the Astoria Oregon office mini storage U-Haul rental office but I'll talk to his manager about it after the billing issue is fixed.Noah C.

The trailer didn't have a jack stand to help us lift onto the hitch. My husband and I had to lift it into the hitch. We had to use rocks to help lift it up high enough to get it onto our hitch. I think this is dangerous and we almost couldn't do it ourselves. Taking it off of our hitch was even harder.Sheryl R.

The mobile sign in process took forever and was way harder than an in person check in. Would not want to do it again. The price online also kept showing differently and was confusing. We ordered a dolly, but did not get it, and the location wasn't open for another 2 hours so we were never able to get ahold of one.Luke B.

Well after 15 years phew ! Was glad to finally place my stuff elsewhere . The young man was very helpful and available to run elevator and unlock doors Was sad to see all the rat urine and rat droppings in the unit when I moved stuff out but other then a few chew marks and it smelled , all in all my stuff was in tact .
