My experience was terrible. The shopkeep left to go home and locked the door as I got there. Then the next shift person didnt come until 30 minutes later. Then the shopkeep refused to use my gift card because he did not know how, and he messed up my return location. I would rethink how uhaul runs this location.

this is more of an issue with u-haul rather than the location itself. I was shoe-horned into purchasing a more expensive vehicle because the one i reserved (that was available at time of reservation) was not available. u-haul would NOT honor the original cost and made me upgrade in order to continue with my scheduled moving plans. terrible business etiquette.

This location is primarily a gas station. Customer service was interrupted by people buying gas and snacks and drinks. The attendant was friendly, courteous, and knoledgeable, but the time it took to complete the transaction took longer.

I've always liked renting from this location. The truck should have not been rented out however. It had a bad exhaust leak that caused it to be so loud that I had to buy hearing protection to drive back from my pick-up location. I found customer to be cursory, if not curt; and certainly not helpful. I have found this is often the case with Uhaul after they have rented you the equipment. It was an irritating and frustrating day. I do like renting from this location however.

Our reservation for a truck was changed and I was told we would be given an extra day by the U-Haul rep and when I went to go pick up the truck that wasn’t the case. The alliance road location is a horrid experience and I have used it previously and it’s always the same. It’s a convenience store that generally has 1 employee who doesn’t know how to do the U-Haul stuff and has zero clue how to change or update anything. It took over an hour to pick up a truck I had reserved because she was the o lot person working the mini mart register and also doing U-Haul contracts. The truck tire was thread bare and two hours down the road blew out. Then U-Haul sent someone from 5 hours away and when we checked where the tow truck driver was we found out U-Haul sent someone from way far away so we had to wait even longer for U-Haul to figure it out. We waited over 3 hours on the side of the road for an already screwed up reservation and was shorted a day so we missed our free help from friends and had to hire people to help unload so that we could get the truck back. If I have the ability to use a different company next time I move, one that doesn’t make my experience hell from start to finish, I will go with them and tell my friends and colleagues to do so as well. Maintenance on your trucks and proper customer service go a long way...clearly farther than the tread on your truck tires.

The interior of the truck storage area was filthy and had to be swept before I left. The ramp was defective. And the windshield wiper didn’t work as the blades had worn off. Other than that, the check-in and check-out process was easy.

The truck was full of mud and plant materials, my new house is now also full of mud and plant materials. NOT HAPPY. And they didn't do anything when we told them about it when we returned it. Also, the mileage that was on the contract didn't match the mileage on the truck. So we were charged for mileage that we didn't drive. NOT HAPPY.

No help , over charged for gas to make more money. Not ok. To get gas to where it supposidly was wouldnt have been 42.oo and then 30.00 fee bull shit. I moved from red bluff to Arcata not easy trip or convenience. The second location was only worried about renting to another customer. Not my fault he only has one truck. Wont return or use that place ever. Price gouged me on gas i had just put 20 in it to fill to line. So im not happy with service. I couldnt wait to go over every thing and he took advantage of it. Maybe i jeed to use another rental service.

First of all my name was written phoenetically not accurately. The truck was physically clean but had been used to transport marijuana and stunk. Booked another truck to me in error and in correcting it double billed my credit card plus two additional charges which were not mine. I then had to disputed the charges rather than U-Haul correcting their errors. Took almost two hours to pick up this truck!

Picked up the truck and took it to the gas station to put gas in it. While I was pumping gas I heard it just dumping out the bottom. The uhaul/ gas clerk came out and said the gas hose was stolen at their location where they park the cars. With no way back to the lot to pick up our car we had to walk all the way to my house to pick up another car so we could drive it to the lot to see if another uhaul truck would be in working order. The next truck ended up working and was able to move my stuff after an hour of figuring this all out.

Have onsite vechicles, have the actual vehicle that was reserved, have a place to park the vehicle at the gas station. Stop making your customers jump through hoops in order to complete their rental.

The staff at this location were super helpful. The location itself is a bit strange in that you have to have someone take you to the gas station (petro mart), pick up the key and place the deposit, have someone drive you to where the U-Haul trucks are located, then you have to drive the Uhaul all the way back to the petro mart to start the contract. When you’re done you have to bring it to petro to be checked, then drive it yourself back to the Uhaul lot, then have someone drive you from the lot back to Petro to drop off the key and end the contract. Kind of a lot of steps, just saying. The Uhaul truck was in great condition and made my move easier. Thanks

Very small area to rent truck and run a gas station. I understand the flow of a gas station needs to run. But it was a little chaotic and we were shuffled to the side several times to have the gas station customers come and go.

Good experience and extremely convenient location for us. Only two concerns: the windshield was really dirty and the gas tank should be filled (especially when you pick up the truck at a gas station.) The tank was filled 1/4 and 3/8, making it difficult to refill when we returned the truck. Other than that, all went well!

This particular location was ok, but uhaul as a whole is sub par. Disorganized scheduling system. Confirmed a different location 2 days before then changed day before to this one. People working in the morning were disorganized. Actual gas gauge was different than what was shown on paperwork. Guy in afternoon at drop off was competent.

The main U-Haul point of contact at this location, John, is a shining example of customer service. Knowledgeable, friendly, thinking outside the box to give the customer the best possible experience. This location is highly recommend mostly because of him. Also, for a non official U-Haul location, it is the best I have ever used. Plenty of supplies and dollies, etc. Full-service location.

I was totally impressed by the whole operation...even dropped off at a different location than agreed upon, without paperwork, and was taken care of efficiently and easily...everything online...Bravo!

I would suggest that the manager (of the rental location) accompany the driver to the vehicle to ensure the vehicle is in excellent shape (tires, , and familiarize driver with controls, help driver adjust mirrors before the vehicle leaves the rental location.

It was a very busy time (graduation weekend) and I was very pleased with Ben’s efficiency, knowledge, and pleasantness (he took my phone reservation). And the staff at the Arcata Petro Mart were equally pleasant and efficient. Very happy overall.

Very professional and helpful. It is annoying that this location doesn't tell you you have to drive the uhaul to another lot and then come back with the key. It's more convenient to be able to drop off at the same place that you clear your contract, but they're doing the best they can and I appreciated the woman who was there and her help.

Having to go to the remote lot was a little bit of a pain--maybe pull the trucks you know are going to be rented around to the station.

Need to have more than 1 person to handle check in on trucks at the end of the day. 1 person doing both U-haul and customers in the food store is a bit ridiculous and makes it near impossible to provide any level of customer service. I makes the employees stressed trying to do more than 1 person can reasonably do.

The local company was great. My experience with the corporate end was not so great. I called on Friday to confirm my Saturday reservation and asked if the person was in Eureka at the local branch, she said yes and the truck will be there. Turns out it was not. Thankfully a real person that was really from the Eureka Branch called me before I left to go pick up the truck and told me they did not have the truck in Eureka, but the did Have one in Arcata and they called them and set it up, all was smooth from that point on. There seems to be a great disconnect between you folks answering the phones and what is really happening at the local level.

I checked in online to rent a U-Haul from 10:30am to 10:30pm and confirmed with the owner of Gas-4-Less that I would return the U-Haul at 10:30. I showed up after 12 hours of non-stop moving and the person at gas-4-less told me I could not return it because the U-Haul system closed at 6pm. After arguing that the OWNER told me I could return it, she said ok but I would have to drive to eureka to turn it in.... I had arranged for someone to pick me up at gas4less, not eureka, so I had to convince the person working to try to help me out, and 20 minutes of her unable to complete the request on the gas4less computer, she was finally able to check the rental out... was unable to print the receipt for me to sign, so another 5 minutes of fighting with the printer and finally I was on my way. Make sure you hire folks who can be trained to use computer systems. Don’t waste your customers time and for heavens sake make sure you can back up your agreements without hassle...

The 'boss' called me Sunday to say my uhaul would be due Monday by 8:30am. I asked about after hours drop off and he said the station would be open 'til 11pm Sunday night and I could drop it off by then. When I arrived at the station, a very small mini-mart for a gas station, the 'employee' said that uhauls could not be returned after 6pm. I told him the guy who called me said I could drop it off by 11pm. He said that this has happened with many customers; his boss does not explain to them that the computer for uhaul returns shuts down at 6pm. He told me that I could leave the uhaul at their holding lot (1.5 miles down the road at 105 Alder Grove) and return in the morning to finalize the drop off. I did so, but when I returned in the morning the boss told me that he could not finalize the return without the odometer reading. I told him what had happened the night before and he said he would have to go down to the lot in the afternoon for the odometer reading. I called uhaul management right after this and filed a formal complaint.

For customer disputes agent should hv contact uhaul corp to verify their promises on 1 free rental day and also 1st month storage unit free for one way truck rental. Vehicle was tagged for this but not honored.

Do routine maintenance on the trucks to assure that your customer has the best travel experience. Our trucks Check engine light turned on causing the car to only go 45 mph and the truck start to eat gas. Had to fill up 3 more times more then the last time I moved out to where I came from. Worst Moving Experience Ever!!!

Have two people working at 9:00am when you know people are picking up or returning UHauls. The mart does a great business and its hard to go out and check the equipment w/o help for customers.

The contract read mileage at check out 44560.1. Actual was 44631.8. I immediately called and reported error on my contract and took a picture of dash odometer be for leaving parking space. I also took a picture of dash odometer upon returning it. Web site says supplies of boxes to purchase when in fact they don't sell any but small size. I expected to pick up rental at PETRO but was told it is 1.2 miles down the road. Clerk kindly offered her daughter to take me there and I paid her $5. I was allowed to leave truck with key and dolly at PETRO upon return. I was greatful for that as I was on foot/bus. Web site needs to be updated for it is misleading not to indicate trucks not at PETRO station. Clerk at check in made me let other customers that were behind me go 1st. It caused me to miss my bus and wait 1 hr. more, and my paid movers were disturbed I was 20 min. late for them to help me move. Thank you.
