We booked a reservation weeks ago for Atlantic Ave, showed up and there was no truck for us. They rerouted us to Washington Ave, and said the car was right out from of the business but it was two blocks away. The latch on the door was terrible and stuck so I bruised my hand bc every time you'd open it, it would go flying back from the pressure.

I signed up to get my truck at 8 am. I got there in 18 degree temperatures only to find that the truck wasn't available for pu and I needed to return when the place opened at 9 am. Why wasn't I notified of this before getting there? The truck seats are crumbling. The passenger side mirror kept moving when we hit a bump, which meant most of the time I couldn't use that mirror, making driving the truck less safe. If I hadn't had someone sitting in the passenger seat, I wouldn't have been able to safely use the truck and do the errands that I had rented it for.

Nothing in my opinion. I had a long distance trip and the gentleman in the location mentioned keeping the newest truck for my reservation. This was thoughtful and the truck was amazing.

Rented a van from this location. Based on prior reviews citing issues with early rentals, booked it starting at 9 am. Staff on site were friendly and helped locate the van within minutes. The van was parked on the street about a block away. The van was a little banged up but had stickers on it clearly indicating areas of prior damage. Inside the truck was clean. Truck drove great. Hardest part was returning the van because you have to find street parking and parallel park it, but the after-hours key return process was fairly straightforward, returned keys to drop box at U-haul location with small note listing address where van was left parked. Overall great experience for NYC rental. Would definitely choose this location again.

I rented the van at 9am. The counter person was friendly and very helpful, and honestly, got me out of a jam; I had made my reservation for the wrong date. I returned the van that same afternoon. The checkout was superfast.

The van was great - smooth, quiet, xclnt ride. the self check out was not easy at all, and we only ended up getting the keys because someone else was given the wrong code that happened to have our keys in them. We also had to drive around to find our rental. It would have been helpful if the app told you the street the rental was on. It wasted a lot of our time. The app also checked me in before giving me the key code lock to get the keys.

We arrived at 8:30am to get our truck and were not given our truck until 10:30am. Our truck was stuck in a gated truck behind 8 other cars from the mechanic shop next door. They ended up switching our truck. The man running the uhaul side of the business was late to arrive. This was extremely unfortunate.

Worst customer service I've ever seen. I made everything online and need only to pick up the keys, the guy yelled at me several times when I asked for the keys, made wait about 30 minutes expending time on other thing on purpose just to make me wait more because I told him the app showed me a message to just "ask for the keys" Finally he parked the truck outside the told me "keep the f**k for yourself" after I said "just gimme the f**king keys"

Not the location specifically, but honestly I would not recommend U-Haul to a friend. I went to return the van the next day and the location was closed, no problem I understand that. The parking lot was closed and locked though so there was nowhere to put the van, there was no street parking available and open on that street at that time. Because of this I went to another U-Haul location not even a couple miles away and dropped it off. Later I got an email with a $270 added charge for dropping it off at another location. That was not communicated and I was not prepared for that, and I don't see what my options were other than the other location, considering there was no place to leave the van. I honestly should've just kept it for another night and paid the extra $60 I think it is, and I would've if I had known about this. Honestly if you can afford it, just go with movers. It would have been cheaper and a much better experience, I will only do that in the future.

U-Haul allows you to book vehicles for this location for before hours pick up via mobile app, but this location is not actually set up to do so. My reservation was confirmed for 7am and I was unable to pick up my vehicle until 9am, so if you are on a tight moving schedule beware! U-Haul service reps were also unable to help me resolve this. Once I got my van, it was all good just the pick-up issues threw me off.

The business itself looked a little chaotic and sketchy, but the gentleman running the U-Haul rentals was EXTREMELY eff one and helpful. He explained everything clearly and was very helpful. We were in and out with a truck with no issues under 15 minutes. Turn in was even quicker. He had the truck inspected, parked and submitted the mileage, and we received a final receipt before we could get into our ride home. Gray service and support!!

Make sure the truck reserved is available for the customer to pick up. Unfortunately, the pick up process took longer than usual because the truck I had reserved wasn't available at the time I had reserved for, which caused me to be late for my appointment with my movers.

The appliance dolly I rented wasn't in the van like the app said it would be, so I had to go into the office to get it (no big deal). The attendant wasn't at the desk but was outside moving vans around. After a few minutes, he saw me, looked at my phone to see I had requested an appliance dolly, and told me to grab one. I grabbed an appliance dolly and headed across the street to where the van was parked. A few seconds later, the man starts YELLING at me from across the street saying that I needed to return the dolly because an appliance dolly was $10 more. He then became angry with me and berated me when I yelled back that I had paid for it and was taking what I paid for. I'm not sure what made him think it was okay to yell at me like that across the street accusing me of wrongdoing when he didn't know what he was talking about. Clearly he hadn't done his job and was upset with me that he made a mistake. I never received an apology from him and will certainly not go back to a place or recommend anyone go to a place where a grown man yells at people the way he yelled at me. Disgusting and pathetic.

The truck was clean, but on return, the U-Haul employee said that we had a busted front light and tried to make us responsible. Had to explain and show a pic that i happened to have taken before leaving that it was already there. The employee said that the garage should never have let me leave with it broken. I knew I didn't have to drive at night but I guess it could have been a safety concern.

Improve the online booking system--my location was changed but there was not a clear email stating that my location was changed for pickup, it said my booking was "updated" but did not recognize that the location was different than the one I booked. It got me very stressed when I realized... ok thanks for listening lol

If you need to "verify my rental qualifications", please do that before the pickup time. I didn't find out until I tried to pick up the van via the app that I would need to put phone numbers of two friends who U-Haul was going to call and verify me. I was standing outside in the cold waiting for U-Haul customer service to get back to me, and then had to scramble to find two friends who would answer the phone on a Sunday morning, and as a result it took an hour for me to get my van. This was very stressful and could have been avoided by letting me know in advance that I would need this.

No one was available to check the rental in when I returned it so an employee of the auto repair shop took the keys and told me it would be fine. I was then erroneously charged for gas although the rental was returned exactly as on the rental sheet. No one answered or returned messages left at the shop's number to remove the inappropriate charge.
