Derrick Chen-LukeI made a reservation at 1pm on a Thursday (5 hours before they close), for the next Friday morning at 8am (1hr before site opens). I used the U-Haul app to be able to access the truck before hours, but there was no key left in the lock box as there should have been. After calling U-haul (corporate support was apologetic) they couldn’t directly do anything other than try and find another location/truck. The manager of the location arrived at 8:30 prior to open, and when I questioned why my truck wasn’t ready he did not apologize once and blamed it on me making my reservation too late. I got the keys and spent the day moving. When I returned the keys and asked about the late truck issue, the manager again offered no apology and simply deferred “I talked to U-Haul corporate and they’ll be handling the situation”. Zero customer service or care to make it right. U-Haul corporate did offer a $50 credit for my inconvenience but the Value Store-It manager needs a recalibration.

Fred RussellI'll start by saying this review is more of U-haul customer service, although location staff was friendly, they didn't have a furniture mover that I ordered, and in the truck they had a dolly (that I didn't order) which we saw had a broken wheel when we opened the back. Trying to get a hold of someone at the office to let them know, so I would not be charged was impossible...oh and the oil light was on in the truck. Now for U-haul - DO BETTER! This was a horrible stressful experience. I placed an order almost 2 weeks in advance of my move for a 26' and furniture dolly. Up until 3 days before I thought I was picking up at preferred location. I then received a text message that my pick up and drop off location were almost another 30 miles away. I'm paying by the mile, and this was very concerning!!! I called the local office 2 days prior and they were able to find me a smaller 20' truck in my preferred area. At 8AM the night before I was to pick up at 7AM the next morning, I received another text message that again my location has been changed. I tried calling and was passed around to about 5 different people. Basically saying they couldn't do anything because it was after business hours.....THEN WHY ARE YOU SENDING OUT TEXT MESSAGES AND CHANGING THINGS AT 8PM WHEN YOU ARE NOT AVAILABLE!!! As I am confirming the new location on the phone, I receive ANOTHER text message that my time has changed from 7AM to 9AM....seriously....I have movers scheduled for 7AM the next day and I'm just now finding out about this. This caused so much unneeded stress to an already stressful moving situation. This was unacceptable to be finding these things out less than 12 hours to my pick up time and your staff that works "after hours" could not do anything for me! From changing pick up and drop off location and costing me more miles and then changing pick up times at the last minute - you have lost my business.

Rod Blascovich10’ truck I rented had check engine light on driving away, and was having issues with the transmission downshifting. Turned around and brought it back to see if any other trucks were available, which none in a 15 mile radius were until a different date than I had reserved/needed. I absolutely had to move that day so I had no other choice than to take the same truck and drive slowly, hoping I didn’t get broken down. Upon returning the truck, employee then said “oh yeah, we’ve had that light on for a year or so.” So now you’re KNOWINGLY renting out a truck with engine issues for more than a year? And somehow the tag has been checked that the truck passed a quality/maintenance inspection last month? I don’t think so. Unacceptable, and the absolute wrong way to run a business knowingly renting out malfunctioning trucks. This is the last time I ever plan on using UHaul.

Bradley Fairman JrThe truck that we rented smelled really badly. It wreaked of body odor and cigarettes. I’m glad we only had a short distance to go to endure that smell. Also, the truck down shifted a lot so it made us worry about if the U-Haul might leave us stranded on the road. It did not thankfully, but someone needs to check these trucks out. The process was easy in regards to reserving the U-Haul, checking it out, and back in. We would rent here again, just wouldn’t want the same truck.

I was moving a piano that day and had to do everything by hand I would’ve appreciated a phone call ahead of time indicating that the requested equipment was not available.

Karen Nedd-FordThe app was frustrating to use for an early pickup. I believe it took 6 times in different places to get the back of my DL picture to take. Cell reception in the parking lot was spotty and I kept loosing internet connection. When I was returning after a hard exhausting day, the app simply would not play nice. Thankfully the office was open and I was able to just drop the key. The App needs some work, way too long and frustrating to use, it used 75 percent of my battery trying to pick up the truck. Not happy with the App and what is supposed to be convenient.

When I pick my truck up and drove it to my storage facility, I opened it up and there was an appliance dolly and some furniture pads in the back of the truck. So I had to work around those items in order to pack my truck. I called the location and he could’ve cared less and also the cab was very dirty. The seats were dirty we found it chewing gum in one of the doors, etc. etc. very disappointed with this rental.

Robert RothI was double charged and it's still not resolved. The truck's gas gauge was stuck and put me out of gas in a bad situation. When i got to the gas station... the gauge was still sticking and resulted in completely filling the tank before drop off... rather than the half tank needed. No resolution. Bad bad experience
