The gentleman that helped us had an unruly customer just before us and he dealt with that person very well considering that customer was demanding and inconsiderate. The employee kept his cool, helped us very nicely and resolved the other customers problem (which was the customers fault not the employees/shops). We will definitely be back!

I've had several experiences with U-Haul over the years, including this particular location in Urbandale, IA. This was the best experience in working with U-Haul I've ever had. The equipment was on-site, on time, and in perfect working order. The staff were knowledgeable and professional. My past experiences with U-Haul left me vowing to never come back; however, this experience was everything I expected. Nicely done.

Larger lot, parking is terrible and entering and exiting difficult. The manager is very helpful and a very hard worker to make a move less stressful.

The manager checked me out, he was great. The woman that checked me in was nothing less than a total bitch. I parked in front due to a pick-up with a trailer in the driveway, this location is small & access is limited. The woman that checked me said I had to park the truck in the lot, I advised of the truck & trailer in the drive, she acted pissed off, took the key & stormed outside. I mentioned to another customer who was waiting she's probably more experienced with this locations small lot. When she returned she was talking to the customer I just spoke to, and in a loud voice was saying "there was all kinds of room in the drive", I said to her you are more familiar with this location than I- she said in a nasty, disrespectful tone, "Sir that conversation wasn't meant for you!" , so why the hell did she say within ear shot of me ? This person needs a day off without pay to reflect on her lousy customer skills, and some additional customer service training! I will NEVER return to this location ever, nor will I recommend it to anyone. I have never been treated so rudely in my life, there is no excuse to ever treat a customer in this manner.

I brought it back a day early, never got an email with my receipt. I called to get one and turned out to be mass confusion. Then got a call later wanting to know why I had not brought the truck back? Still got charged for 2 days and now got a charge for $39. Most messed up place ever and not sure when I will ever get a refund. Paid $142 for less than a 1 day rental. Ridiculous and I shouldn't have to go thru so much just to get my money back.

I did the online early check-in so when I got there, it was really quick to get signed in. The truck worked great and it was quick and easy to sign the truck back in. I highly recommend the Douglas Ave. location. They made the horrible process of moving a little bit better :)

I booked online at a close location. They then called me and told me I would have to go to one further away but wouldn't give a credit for the much further drive. Absolute BS. Location and truck were in decent shape but getting in and out of this location is challenging.

This location does great with the space they have available. If their lot was just a little bigger it would be nice but they organize it well. The staff was very helpful and friendly though so it was overall a great experience.

The auto check in and out did not work. System could not find my phone location either time. When I picked up the truck I had to go inside, employee said they have had a problem with the location app. Not an issue than,but I returned after hours. Had to call 800#. Took an hour to return the truck.

i could not get out of the parking lot once I pulled in. For this reason I could not pull out to fill the truck with gas. I was charged extra for not filling up the truck with gas. I would have filled it if I could have left the parking lot.

The truck is not maintained at all! When checking in, the guy was a complete ass Saying that the truck was his truck and he didn't know why they would ever say to drop it off at a different location which I had originally requested for and then changed it but they still text me that I was going to drop it off at a different location and then to the second text saying to drop it off at that location which is very inconvenient. And the guy acted like I was lying so I shove the text in his face showing him what it said he said oh I don't know what they were thinking because this is my truck. Pathetic.

The battery on the 15' van had to be jumped four different times to start. I mentioned it when I returned it, was hoping for a little discount for the trouble but nothing. Oh well, probably my fault for not returning it right away, but I was on a time crunch and jumping it was quicker than returning it.

I made a reservation directly with someone at this location over the phone a week prior to the day I needed the truck. On the night before my rental night I received a text “confirming” my reservation for the incorrect time and location pick up. I spent 45 minutes on hold trying to speak to someone at U-Haul. This location was no help resolving the issue and only gave me the 800 number to call. Eventually, the scheduling office arranged for me to pick up the truck I needed at this location but I had to return it 2 hours earlier than originally planned.

All of your employees were excellent. The reason for the knockdown is the location is so in assessable. Extremely difficult to get in and get out of. Way too small footprint for the amount of equipment you have which really Detracts from the excellent customer service.

Well, to begin with you could require your staff to wear masks! Most of the customers I saw while I was there had masks on but none of the U-Haul people had masks or gave me the impression that they give a damn. Although the truck was in good shape I had to rate you down because the guy who drove it to the front for me took no precautions to protect me. No mask or gloves, didn't wipe the steering wheel down with antiseptic wipes or make any attempt to sanitize the vehicle. I really expected more of U-Haul.

Better parking facilities for customers. Drive way goes around the building but exit is blocked with parked equipment. Depending on the size of the truck getting out of the premises could be potentially tricky.

Access to location from the west is difficult but manageable- its just a small location for how busy it is. Online check out was having problems so went inside to check out - check in via app was easy.

I went over the mileage by one mile but returned the vehicle with much more fuel than required, and I was charged .43 cents for the mileage but not credited for the fuel which in my mind would be worth a lot more. It seems to me that the fuel level and mileage both should be considered at return to be more considerate to the customer

It took me 45 minutes to pick up the vehicle because the store Internet was down. Granted there were major storms the day before, however no contingency plan was available to the store for vehicle checkout. So I was told to use my phone to check out the truck. 45 minutes later after providing 5 different phone numbers for secondary contact your system insisted I be charged an additional $10.00 for some sort of insurance, likely because none of the phone numbers I provided answered a text that your system didn't tell me would be sent. Today I walked in, three people were in the store unable to return their vehicle online because Internet was still offline and no one could get an accurate location because the cell tower was still offline. So overhearing an employee tell a customer the wrong phone number to call, I quickly looked up the number and waited on hold for 20 minutes for a representative to answer, who then transferred me to another area. About a minute later, after waiting with no employees in the building for most of that time, someone who had tried to call me turned out to be your store. They found my truck parked in the return area. This employee finally thought to look in the building, where he took the keys and told me I was good to go. What could you do better you ask? Provide a contingency plan to your stores with this type of situation in mind. Train your employees to be more helpful, better trained, and not to leave customers unattended in the store. Dramatically improve your online systems with better information, clear instructions, and alternate ways to check in a returned vehicle while location services are unavailable. By the way, your phone system while waiting suggested I come back later if I was unable to use my smart phone. And, by the way, you lost at least two customers while I was there because the store was unprepared to take a reservation. One elderly couple didn't have a smart phone for online check in. Rest assured, unless I have no other choice I won't be using your services again. Thank you for the opportunity to inform you about this experience.

staff were excellent, very polite, extremely helpful. truck has some problems - check engine light on, fuel filler cap warning light on, transmission "felt" like it didnt want to shift gear. i cannot express how positive and helpful the staff were and they worked hard to make it a great experience. would recommend this location again!

They were busy at the time I returned the vehicle and told me they would send an email regarding the check-in and I never received one, I had to log in to see what I was charged. I had specified 3 hours and probably returned it within an hour and 15 minutes. I would have appreciated the email I was promised.
