Pickup location was more than 50 miles from our home and the trailer was coated with salt and sludge. My reservation was initially cancelled by a surly phone operator the day before my pickup. I will never recommend U-Haul to anyone looking for a quality rental agency.LINDA T.

The 6x12 trailer I rented this time running lights did not work. I was pulled over by police twice on my trip to and from IL and was able to talk my way out of a ticket but it made the trip stressful and dangerous!Galen M.

The woman who assisted me was incredibly rude. She made snide remarks when talking about the costs, and then she proceeded to chat with coworkers while helping me, and finally ended it by telling me I can â€œcheck my bank statementâ€ when I asked for a receipt. The truck she gave us was basically empty of gas, and she told us to walk out there and find it. We got out there and it wasn't where she said it was so we were wandering around in the 0 degree weather trying to match it. Luckily a male employee with glasses came to help us and was much more kind, helpful, and professional. There was snow still on the truck so we had to wait for that to be cleared off as well. Overall, I was just very surprised at how a usually seemingly seamless process was stressful and tense.DALE K.

That was the most rude and threatening clerk I have ever dealt with at any business. He first started yelling at me because I was 1 1/2hrs after my pick up time. I said sorry I thought it was like renting a car, he rudely said 'No! its just like any other appointment, you show up on time!" Then as he yelling at employees loudly and swearing to himself for all to hear. Once he got back to me he continued with the "yeah buddy that would be a great business plan for us to rent out vehicles and not have people show up on time!" I kinda said again, "sorry, I thought it was like a car rental" He then threateningly yell 'What did you just say to me!" like he wanted to fight or something. I said "I thought it was like a rental car company" At this point every customer and worker is on edge. That guy needs some vacation time or therapy. Totally unacceptable.ZACHARY K.

I drove this truck 21 miles, I added 4.5 gallons of gas right before I dropped it off, figured it got around 5 miles per gallon, and I still got charged for 2 more gallons of gas for $11. I returned it at the exact level the gas was at, and had no idea this small truck only got 3 miles per gallon I guess since that's what I was charged for. I don't agree with the extra charge and should have taken pictures of that.SCOTT L.

Check out could have been more thorough. None of the steps listed on the website were done. They also did not have all the items I reserved. Also it was the third uhaul I had to go to, to find an available trailer, which I reserved weeks ago. 2 hours of driving to get the reserved trailer. Original location was 5 min from my house. Then 45 min drive, etc etc. it was really looking like I was not going to get the trailer at all.David W.

Dudes, your reservation system is Byzantine. Reserve equipment at one location that is walking distance to my home and the system decides after reservation is confirmed that I'm going to pick up equipment at another place a mile away. I spend a bunch of time talking to a dude who sez I cannot rent a 10-foot truck at this new location. He signs me up for 15 feet. We arrive at 833 University Ave and walk past a long line of 10-foot trucks and, like, no 15s? Nice young woman inside cheerfully releases the 10-footer for my use. Later a nice man calls asking whether I still want the 15 footer. He listens to my sad tale and promises to cancel the 15-footer reservation. As I went about a less than successful day moving things and trying to find used appliances I became aware of a slamming sound in the back. Upon discovering the rear door was not secured I made a serious effort at getting the hook to engage to no good end. I returned the vehicle before closing time and was met by a nice young man who already knew about the non-locking rear door. Next day my receipt came through and there I found a $20 service fee for after-hours return.PATRICK DAVID S.
