I rented a cargo van. Selected mpbile check in at 7a pickup on a Sunday. I was instructed that the keys were in a lock box in the van itself. However, after 2 hours of searching (and then waiting for the location to open), the employee told us the keys were kept in a different truck. The fact that the keys weren't in the correct location and that we ended up having to wait 2 hours, I was very disappointed using the mobile check in..Kathleen O.

The exterior of the truck was very dirty/dusty. The employees that work at the actual location were friendly on the phone and in person. But the customer service via app/chat/phone number is TERRIBLE. literally 45 min wait for a response. Cannot reach a person to help you in an acceptable amount of time. Used the app for 24/7 pickup with a reservation time of 7am. After following the procedure it kept saying my documents could not be verified. Very inconvenient. 7am pickup time turned into a 10am pickup time. What's the point of app based pickup? Shouldn't docs be verified PRIOR to scheduled pickup?Anne H.
CLEAN the inside windows were so filthy when the sun hit them you couldn't see the Road The moment I put the vehicle in Drive the OIL CHANGE REQUIRED came on. I thought the process went efficiently and the people on site are very friendly. I just wish there had been someone to acclimate me to the vehicle as I was a first time renter of a cargo van. But I figured it out and got the hang of it OK. The vehicle was great and everything went smoothly. I will work with this location again when I'm ready to move (again) in the next few months. The rental had garbage in it and there was a dolly in the truck that we hadn't asked for. I was going to get charged extra for the garbage that I reported until one of the staff helped make sure that the charge would be removed. She was the best part of the whole experience.Carol G.

Many problems - employees unhappy working there, and talked openly about issues in front of me, the customer. Truck was dirty. I drove 20 miles but was charged for 40 - the kid checking me in admitted that someone in his team messed up and noted the trip odometer, not the actual odometer - but said he didn't know how to fix it. I couldn't handle one more minute in this place, so I left knowing they would overcharge me. Just an outdated system in place that is hard for customers and employeesâ€¦John M.
When you check out a vehicle, don't rush the customer so much, ask if they have any questions, and give them time to answer.Elaine O.

The check-in person was not at all friendly, was very abrupt, dismissive and rude. The trucks were parked so close together that the mirrors were touching the trucks next to them and an orange safety cone was under the wheels. This was reportedly to keep people from siphoning gas (something a fence could help with enormously), but made it necessary to wait for an employee to pull it out for us. The truck looked fine but ran extremely rough and VERY loud. (I know these trucks are not smooth, gentle rides, but this one sounded like it would quit at any time.) The guys in the yard, both at check-in and out, were very helpful and friendly.Valerie H.

The transaction to obtain the vehicle was adequate. When I received the truck it was nothing like the picture I was presented. I actually took pictures and sent them back to U-Haul. The Cashier/attendant was sitting at a desk , I stepped to the counter and said I have a 10:00 appointment scheduled to pick up a truck. Unfortunately I did not write down the cashier's name. My appointment was on Thursday July 1, 2021 at 10:00am Though she was competent in handling the transaction there was absolutely no customer service. No greeting, no smile, there wasn't even eye contact. This falls below customer service; she was lacking in basic common courtesy. I did not feel comfortable in your establishment and found myself just wanting to get the transaction over with and get out of there. I will not be back nor would I recommend that location to anyone. In returning the vehicle the gentleman who checked the vehicle back was very cordial and I would Like to give complements to him.sharon W.

Sorry I did a mobile check-in. Good thing that I went during open hours because the truck that was assigned to me was wedged so tight between two other trucks. I am talking 6 inches on the side if that. Then, I get into the truck and the seatbelt received is blown out So I had to drive a 15' box truck with no seatbelt and then to top it all off , the mirror would not stay in place after I adjusted it so I had to keep pushing the heavy mirror in order to not kill myself while I drove this death trap. The advertisement made it seem like I could pick up the vehicle very quickly, but the process took a very long time. I was in a hurry, but couldn't get the truck because uhaul was trying to call my mom to verify my identity. As the store was opening, the 2 staff handled the slow computer leading to longer than expected waits with patience and professionalism. Their customer service was excellent. The truck was on empty. The windows were dirty and the photos for the way the truck looked didn't match the actual condition. When getting gas it took 40 minutes to get 25 gallons of gas. Would only take gas at the slowest speed possible. Gas ran down the side of the truck while filling, not overfull by any means. Called Shawna at the pick up location, her response wasâ€¦never seen this before and offered no solution to the problem. She said if we traded the truck our gas wouldn't be reimbursed ($100) and that was U-haul's policy, Jose at drop off said this wasn't true. Shawna was incredibly rude and unhelpful especially for a $715 rental. It was not my fault the truck was broken and exactly how she made me feel saying things like â€œwell, it's taking gas.â€Emilie L.

The reps helping me were very friendly. But as far as the equipment...The sun visor on driver side was hanging. Also the driver side view mirror was broken and swinging. I was using the self-checkout feature for the first time and was looking forward to using it. I was picking up my rental before the location opened and the process was quite messy. 1) The instructions were definitely NOT clear and the person on the phone was not giving the correct instrucdtions of where to find the keys. 2) I almost could not get my rental out because there were many cars blocking the exits and entrances. I was only able to get out with the help of someone who helped me move through a very narrow passage between two trucks -- it is not clearly deleneated where people should drop off their rentals. 3) once everything was sorted out, I had already lost almost a full hour form the time that I was supposed to pick up my truck and 4) when I returned the rental in the PM, I told the person who was checking in my car these things and his response was "what do you want us to do about it"--not appropriate for a paying customer.rene D.
The return process online was very frustrating and difficult to use. My phone would not allow me to share my location, even though I followed the directions to do it, so I couldn't officially return my truck that evening. It wouldn't let me go past the location finding part of the mobile return process. Luckily, Uhaul did not charge me any extra but I sat in the dark parking lot for 20 minutes trying to work the online process. A suggestion to remove that one question from the online /mobile return process.KATHERINE H.
The system for self-checking out a truck, minimizes contact time with other customers and the on-site staff. It worked pretty well and the staff was helpful. My only complaint is that the low resolution of photos, which document pre-existing damage to the vehicle, render them too grainy to discern some of that damage. I recommend storing a higher resolution photo, and allowing customers to upload a high resolution photo to the u-haul website.Eva B.

I am extremely grateful for the assistance the representative gave when I was turning the truck. I had some unfortunate things happen on the move which made the return of the truck a lot later than planned. I had planned to have help with my move yesterday but unfortunately the help didn't arrive. It was mostly me moving by myself which caused a late return. Thank you so much to the person who checked me out of the truck rental when I returned the truck late. That act of kindness made me cry at the register and I'm forever gratefulMaria S.

Picking up a truck was very quick and pleasant. It would be helpful if the truck had had more than 1/4 tank of gas when I picked it up, especially since it sucked it down at an alarming rate. I ended up putting in too much when I refueled and ended up "donating" a 1/4 tank to U-Haul corporate. I will definitely shop the competition next time I need to rent a truck.David N.
