There has to be a better way to calculate how much fuel to put back into the vehicles. I used about half a tank, the paper receipt I had said 75 litres of fuel would take it from empty to half a tank, instead 75 litres took the gas gauge way past half a tank. When a person returns a vehicle with more fuel in the tank then it was picked up with, a deduction or credit for the surplus fuel should be applied to the rental charges.Doug J.

I reserved a 10" box truck, but when I arrived it had changed to a 10" conversion van. I verified in my email that it was correctly set to the truck initially. Luckily the folks at the pick up location was able to get me a larger truck at the same price as the 10" box truck was not available and a conversion van was not going to work for me. Also it would be nice if the self-pick up option was part of the app. It seems it was only on the website login.Michael B.

Had to wait for about 15 minutes while one staff member dealt with 2 other clients. Gas tank was barely over 1/4 tank and the vehicle was parked around the corner. Not having a full tank for a 300 km trip meant I had to fuel at the start of the rental NOT the end. I put in a lot more than it turned out I needed and was confronted with U-Haul's "tough luck" policy.. Kudos to the staff for coming up with a resolution because it prevented this being a one or two star review and no prospect of repeat business.Michael S.

Booking the rental for pick up in Milford was easy, however, when pick up time arrived, the truck was NOT in Milford. There was much confusion, gas, mileage and time wasted as we drove from Truro to Milford to pick up a truck that was not in Milford but in Truro! A better way of communication between UHAUL and customers other than text messages that may or may not be received prior to arrival for pick up.Milton D.

I was quite shocked at how good the mileage was in the truck we rented. We did 311 km half of it empty and half with about 7000 or 8000 pounds on and only used half a tank of gas. My only recommendation would be to make it VERY clear to customers, that return after hours, to stay in the truck until they have gone to your app and gone through the return process. I didn't and could not get back into the cab to take a picture of the dash. And, although I had taken a picture of the dash the app does not allow you to use pictures in your gallery, the picture must be taken with the app. Lastly I had driven away from the uhaul location to do some shopping only to find out that you used GPS to ensure the vehicle was dropped off at the right location. All of which makes sense but I wish it had been made clear that I should do the return from the front seat of the vehicle before stepping out and locking it.Bill P.

Just an extra bit of acknowledgement.. The storage facility in Truro at 22-24 is very well kept. The hallways, elevator and the loading bays are always kept very clean, as well as the toilet facility. Been there 10 different timesTim F.
I originally rented my truck for two days. For some reason, the company started harassing me and leaving angry voicemails on my phone telling me my truck was late and that I only had it for two days. They also told me I went over my mileage but I had to drive that number of miles to return the truck to Truro from Tatamagouche. All of these issues came up because of mistakes of the Uhaul centres and I was blamed for them and charged for them.Jennifer A.

I hoped that I could at least have accessed my Bell equipment to return to them that would have saved me another $2000 dollars. This have been a really awful, traumatic experience. The wipers were not great, specifically the drivers side. It was a slushy day so every time someone was in front of me I had to use the wipers to keep the windshield clear. I'm very happy with my experience. However, when I booked a unit originally, I booked a larger size unit (10x16, I think?). The agent on the phone said that this unit was on hold for me and would be available when I arrived. Turned out, however, that the unit was not available. In fact, the store agent at the time said no units were available! I was deeply disappointed in this because my province to province move required a unit of that size. In the end, the staff did find a smaller unit available, and gave me some money off the renting fee. I was happy about this, but still disappointed at the larger system of "booking" a unit for a customer that didn't exist. It's akin to an airline over selling their tickets. I think it's a poor business practice. In any case, this was the worst part of the experience. Everything has been top notch. In particular, the staff and management at the Court Street Truro NS location were absolutely wonderful!Chris L. | First Impressions

You showed clear disregard for me as a customer when you unilaterally chose to increase the price of a service that was previously agreed upon with your staff. I rate the facility in Truro outstanding! I had a problem with my cc being charge twice after I tried , without success , online to book a storage unit. Brandon , the Truro manager , did everything he could to help me but in the end he had to refer me to the contact centre. Several calls to the contact centre were made I was unable to get hold of anyone that could help me. I booked a space anyway, which was not the Truro Court St. locatifon , it was the Main St. SELF CHECK IN location. I booked these but was unable to check in the day before as it kept looping me back to the beginning, but still chargling my credit card. I arrived to the Court St. location on the day of moving to see if I could get checked in there and I was unable to. I had movers in the yard , and I was paying 300.00/hr. My angel came in the form of Mellisa Wright, would was able to secure a spaces at the Court St. location and booked them side by side. You have no idea how grateful I am for her extraordinary patience and service that day. I also wanted to point out how spotless the location is! Melissa advised me she did the cleaning there. I would have eaten off the floor is was so clean. Please note the above recommendation is for the Truro location only. My experience with your online booking system and you contact centre I would rate in the negative. You folks need so much work on your IT and your call wait times! He also charged me $169 plus tax.. This is unacceptable and I will be going to the media about my trust with this Truro location. In the space of 36 hrs, this site has managed to: - lock me out of one site due to changing the access keypad without warning - not set up my account at this site with 24hr access - not have the required disc lock on hand for my new unit (sold me standard lock) - CUT THAT LOCK OFF THE FOLLOWING DAY AND LOCKED ME OUT OF MY NEW UNIT!!! - refunded me the initial cost of both locks, but not the taxes, so I'm still out a few dollars which just adds insult to injury Staff was friendly enough but the gm could use some updated interpersonal skills/customer service training. We used the access code to check in, but at the end of our move, just after the U-Haul office closed, we tried to lock our unit using the code. It said access denied. We were not able to re enter the building, saying we did not check in, and the access code kept saying invalid. If it were not for the excellent help of Alan who was working at the check-in counter at this local location, my experience with U-Haul Corporate would have remained unbelievably bad. Alan went above and beyond to make my already bad moving experience more pleasant and less stressful. I have thanked him personally more than a few time during my move in. I'd appreciate the manager of this location to take particular notice of my comments and ensure Alan is commended! I'm a 60-yr old retired C-suite executive and Great Leader Coach who knows great employees when I see them. Alan is definitely one of those!
