The manager, Khristine, was rude and argumentative. The gas level was slightly below where it was supposed to be. A $75 fee!! Charge me for the gas not in the tank. A horrible policy. I will never use UHaul again.GREG R.
Ms. McMillan was very helpful,explained everything and answered all my questions. The facility is very clean. The only negative had nothing to do with the staff or facility. The lock I purchased through U Haul is effectively unusable. I could not insert the key all the way, and had to remove it with pliers. One of the staff was very helpful, sprayed some lubricant into the lock and was able to force the key in and unlock it, but we still had to remove the key with pliers. When I arrived to pick up the truck, my reservation was changed from a 20ft truck to a 15 ft truck. No email or phone call was made to inform me of the change. At first we were told no other trucks were available, but I insisted they correct it. They called whoever, and was able to upgrade us to a 26ft truck without additional cost. The people at the counter were amazing. Appreciated them working to make this mistake rectified. A 15ft truck would not have been enough space for us. If you're going to change a reservation, at least call and explain the situation, instead of allowing your customers to stress out on the day of their move when plans cannot be changed.Kellye J.

The manager at Pekin facility had ZERO customer service. I think her name was Katherine. She refused to help load the car to the trailer. I had to do this by myself. Also, she was very rude to another handicapped customer and refused to provide her with basic help with her purchases.Ganesh R.

The AC on truck did not work properly. It would cut off and would only work if you turned off switch and turned it back on every 4-8 minutes or soBryon J.

Breaks were squeaking already wen I received the truck. Only 1 speaker worked in the truck. Was told 3/8 gas was in it n was like over bout half but on return I had it at 3/8 but on phone she sed it was supposed to b 5/8 Wich it wasn't even close to that. Was also 2 Mike's different than wat they wrote down for me. On return got a message I was gonna get charged $50 for cleanup. I did forget a mirror in back Wich was cracked but was told there was piping n other stuff in the back. I'm a scrapper so widnt hav left piping behind. 3rd time using this service n prolly da last now.Thomas R.

Customer service upon getting vehicle was friendly/ I had ordered by phone ahead of time. Vehicle decent. When I returned vehicle it filled well beyond when I received it with gas. I returned it to County market in Havana Illinois. Customer service was great there. He said there was a discrepancy where I was to pay $20 and change for gas. He verified that I did not truly need to pay it that I had filled it as I had said. He contacted customer service and he was told it would be taken care of. I later got a text saying I owed it again. I disputed the fact with details. I had been charged $50 on my debit card. I called the one 800 numberâ€¦ spent Over a half hour on the phone disputing it. I was only credited $30. These companies are shady. $20 won't make or break me but it irritates meCharity S.

My dad and I got to the store at 8:55am when the store opened at 9am. The employee Rodger Stephenson was on time at 9am but the manager didn't arrive to the store until 9:45 and then said the reasoning was because he was tired.Michaela K.

Lady working was rude there equment didn't work they said it was my truck spent an hr tring to figure it out on my end they at first refused to sell me the trailer due to lights and so I bought a 20 dollar plug to find out it was there trailer lights and NOT MY TRUCK so asked if they could call local uhaul dealer to c if they could get a trailer and the lady was rude and snapped no thats ur problem we can call them for u then didn't get any compilation all I got was either we rent u a tow dolly not an auto transport I reserved so I did then they charge my time from return on Sunday morning to Saturday night by 12 pm I will never go back to that uhaul ... thanKS dustiDustin M.

The app experience was awful. It took me over 40 minutes to get my vehicle. The topper was that when I tried to get the key from inside the store, the door was locked, even though it was supposed to be open. After 15 minutes, I was finally able to get inside when a FedEx delivery came in. The person working offered no apology, but just said that I should have called the number on the door. Since the store should have been open, I never thought I would need to call the store. In my opinion, the person I was chatting with on the app should have given me this information.Charlie B.

I rented a 10ft truck at the Pekin location on Court St. I tried to do it on line before I got there so the process would be faster when I got there so I was prompted to put my debit card info in. It wasnt going to charge my card it was just to reserve it I was on my way there anyway so when I got there I told her I was trying to do it on line before hand but I got there before I could actually finish it up and she was nice and said we can finish it here it will will go a little faster so I gave her my drivers licence and told her I didnt want it on my card I would pay cash cause I had just taken all my money out to pay my storage up and rent the truck to get my stuff out of the storage as I only had a day before it was due again and she proceeded to tell me if you pay with cash then even though its only $52 thats just and estimate since you thought you might only use it for 20nmiles we require you to pay $100 and that insures us incase you go over miles or dont replace the gas. When you bring it back we will settle up with you as long as you fill it back up and bring it back as you got it we will figure up the miles and reimburse you what we owe you. I really didnt want to do that cause it was all the money I had to my name except for about $30 but I figured its one day and ill have it back tomorrow and I had to get my stuff out of storage so I wouldnt have to pay another month cause I didnt have it. So I took it back the next day at the exact time because both days I went straight there after I dropped a relative off at work at 4:00. When I got there there is a sign that says returns here and to stay with the vehicle and someone would come out and check it in. So I did that and waited for about 15 minutes and no one ever came and it was cold so I went in to get someone. She was helping another couple and I waited for about 5 minutes and it was my turn and I told her I was returning a truck and its out there where your supposed to pull up but nobody ever came out so that s why I came in. She said just one moment and we will go out there I really have to take this call and I said ok and proceeded to look around in the lobby where they sell the moving material and about 5 minutes later she came out said she was ready and I followed her out there she got in the truck and i seen her on the phone I just thought she was calling in the miles or something I didnt know but it was rather cold as I m standing there and shes in the truck after about 10 minutes I go up to the truck and tell her I m cold you do whatever you have to do and ill meet you back inside and we can settle up then. She then got out of the truck and said it's okay you don't have to wait we'll go ahead and charge your card we're straight you can go ahead and go I said no I didn't pay for it on my card I paid cash and I had to pay extra because I did pay cash so I've got some coming back to me and she goes inside she said what it didn't say that you paid cash I said I don't know what it said but I know that I did pay cash I have my receipt right here and she said well it shows that you're late because you were supposed to be here at 4:30 and it's now 452 well I said I was here before 4:30 I was waiting out in the lane that it says to bring the trucks back and to sit out there and wait for somebody to come out there but nobody ever came and then you were on your phone and you were dealing with a customer but I was here at the time that I was supposed to be so then she calls her manager and the manager told her for me to come back tomorrow because she's not working today which I have to take a taxi cab out there now because I have no way out there and what they charge my card was $0.16 cuz I went a mile over 20 miles and they charged me for another day and there was nobody there that can reimburse my money cuz the manager wasn't there so now not only do I have to pay to take a cab out there tomorrow to try and get what little bit of money I've got coming back which is all I have now I also have a $35 insufficient fund charge because the day before I had taken my money out of my bank to get the truck and pay my storage so I have a fee now because they charge my card $0.16 which was wrong in the first place I had been there for damn near an hour before she ever logged it in the computer anyway that's not my fault they have a sign up to return your vehicles to a certain spot and another sign that says please stay with your vehicle until somebody comes out to help you and then they don't ever come out to help so I had to go in then wait for her to get off the phone and wait for her to finish with somebody else but it wasn't because I was late because I wasn't but they charged me for 2 days and then couldn't change it in the system because there was no manager there just not a real good way to run business maybe they need 2 managers one on each shift. Not real happy right now it took everything I had to get the truck and pay my storage I needed what I was getting back and now having to pay a cab to take me back out there and the bank fee I wont have that. And to top it all off when I asked if there was another manager that could help because I needed my money she was rude and said no and shes not here today you'll have to come back when shes here. I just said fine ill call your corporate office I guess she out her hands in the air and said go ahead and call them theres nothing I can do. I wanted to just cry. When ots all the money you have to your name and their acting like its somehow my fault and its no big deal you ll have to wait. Well it is a big deal when its all you have.Kimberly B.

Staff was very unprofessional. When I turned in my truck I explained to the girl that the mileage when picked up was off by 2 miles and that I had photographed it and sent in prior to picking up the truck. She said they could do nothing about it and turned around and ignored me. Also the lot was still snow and ice covered after over a week since snowing. All other lots in town are clean. It took 20 minutes to get a truck backed up to my storage unit due to snow and drifts in lot. Also I had prepaid for my storage unit early and only using through today the 10th. I paid from 3rd through the 3rd of March. I was told no refund for unused time no matter what. I think that is very pour business practice as unit #162 is now available for rental to new customers. Just an extremely bad experience with uhaul altogether. Also while leaving lot was unable to stop at stop sign and almost hit another car due to ice in parking lot.MARSHA W.

Our experience with the Pekin, Illinois Uhaul, both with storing our belongings after selling our home and then with renting a truck & car carrier after buying our new home in Florida, was WONDERFUL!! Staff was extremely helpful and the storage facilities couldn't have been better. The Uhaul truck rented to us was clean as well. I'd definitely recommend the Pekin, Illinois Uhaul facility and estimate we saved at least $10,000 by using Uhaul versus any of the commercial movers we contacted for pricing for our Illinois to Florida move. Their storage facilities are also extremely well priced with absolutely no hidden charges. My big complaint is that parking lot was not shoveled well. I arrived to start my storage rental in morning after a snow storm night before. Parking lot was not shoveled yet and driving to building was difficult; i got stuck a couple times. I decided to wait until parking lot was shoveled to move my belongings but the shoveling did not occur until 3 pm (at least thats when I received phone call from Uhaul that shoveling was done). Even after the shoveling it was still not done well as only paths were shoveled not entire parking lot and again next day was stuck in snow worse than the first day; eventually got free and realized I MUST stay in the shoveled areas which were hard to distinguish as all pavement was white. I realize you can't control the weather but you can control make a better effort to address the snow.Kathy K. | First Impressions

When I needed a storage unit. I didn't know where to go. Then I saw that U-haul had opened this new facility in Pekin. I was extremely impressed with their storage rooms, the price, the ease and convenience of going in and out whenever I needed to drop off or pick up items. I absolutely loved the garage doors that automatically opened and you can pull inside to load and unload! That was wonderful! The bathroom area and the area with the complimentary carts to use always looked and smelled clean. It was well lit and easy to enter and exit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
