I reserved a climate controlled storage unit & ended up with something different because it had been rented out before I arrived. There was little to no availability and your system doesn't match what is exactly available & what wasn't. I also did receive an access card, I was only given an option of a 6 digit code. The clerk when I arrived was there alone because a co-worker failed to show up so that delayed the process after an already long day. The unit was difficult to find and the staff member initially told me I was at the wrong place. Of which I was not. Once the unit was actually located by myself, the door was broken and was unable to be opened. I walked back to the office, and the staff member told me that the unit next to it was empty to use that one. I walk back to the unit and that new unit was in fact not empty. I walk back to the office to have the staff member help with the door on the unit I was assigned and the staff member determined that the spring to the door was broken. They had no additional units and I had to sit in their parking lot calling different places in order to find storage, while having my moving truck there ready to be unloaded. They over charged me I only drove 50 to 70 miles max. They charged me for 211 miles in 2 hours, this is not possible. I would have to drive the truck 100+ miles an hour the whole time I had the truck with no time to load or unload. I have gone back to the store with no resolution and Ive emailed with no response. I love this place! They always have availability and are very accommodating. I use them weekly for my side rental business and they don't give me a hassle if I'm running behind. The last vehicle I had did smell like gas in the inside, so they might want to check that out.Jessica H.

This was not the original location for my pickup. My original location was Teds Custom Uhaul. The trailer door was found to be broke on our pick up. The New Lenox location had to reschedule me to go elsewhere to pick up the truck. The Paperwork indicated it was in Forest Park. This forced me to rent at an additional cost a truck they had on site for the day. This extra cost was 133.00. They would not provide a discount for the inconvenience nor would Customer service. I was moving out of my home and needed the trailer for 3 days. This delayed the move out of my home by several hours and was an awful and stressful experience. To have reserved a vehicle over a week in advance and to find it broken and leave us without immediate options was a terrible experience. The Park Forest location on Western Avenue was However extremely efficient when I picked up this Second vehicle.barbara K.

The day before I was supposed to pick up a 26' truck I received a phone call (minutes before they closed for the day) from the new Lenox il uhaul. The said â€œthe truck you had reserved will not be here and we can't find one, we are about to close for the day so call the 800 numberâ€. Then hung up. I called the 800 number. They where very helpful and reserved me a truck for the day I was supposed to have it with a different pick up location that was near by. I called the park forest il location to confirm that the new location did indeed have the 26' truck I reserved. They said â€œyes we have a few hereâ€. Sunday morning when I got there to pick up the truck, again there where no 26' trucks. Uhaul scheduling was a complete and total mess.Dane H.

I'm 62 years of age and I had to unhook and remove a 6x12 open trailer with the ramp by myself in the rain. As the U-Haul representative never came outside to remove the trailer from my vehicle. I waited for the representative but he never came. I just drove 8 hours straight and was quite fatigued. Poor customer service.Jason L.

I had an awful experience! I traveled from out of state and needed to return a 15" truck and auto transporter, as well as to rent a storage unit. Things took a turn for the worse as I needed help/guidance to get my car off the transporter. I was told that they would not be able to help due to policy. I was informed that they could get someone over to help but I would need to pay that person $20-$30 dollars. I felt as if I was being scammed out of money. I immediately got on the phone with customer service to schedule another location for drop off. I also canceled my storage unit and requested a refund (which I'm still waiting on the reversal to be applied to my account). The reason for this is because I didn't trust them, and I've never experienced this type of customer service from Uhaul. Uhaul has always been my go to for storage and moving needs. I reserve my unit online using the website. I was giving unit 0717 but upon arrival that unit was already taken. The associate inside the facility was very helpful and she was able to assigned me a new storage unit that wasn't assigned to no one else. She made the process very smooth and she was able to do it all while we loaded our items into the storage unit once we were finished loading up she came outside with the correct paperwork showing our new storage unit number. I am beyond happy with the service that she provided she was nice and helpful and she completed the task in a timely matter. See the reason why I waited this experience at excellent. The online process needs to be updated so another customer won't be assigned a storage unit that's already assigned to someone else God for bid if they came after hours wants to facility with clothes then they wouldn't be able to load the items into the storage unit plus they would have wasted all their time loading a uhaul for no reason.Toriano W. | Online Move In

Your employee Takeisha Stennis was truly amazing. She went over and beyond to help resolve an unfair charge I received from a rental over two years ago. It was a mistaken late charge and I couldn't proceed forward with the rental until I paid it. She was compassionate and followed up to ensure it was resolved. One of the young ladies that assisted me was pleasant, the other had an unpleasant attitude. I was given one unit, and a lock was already on it. The unit I have has glue mouse traps all over so I can't use the space in the corners! Also I don't want mice in my belongings! I'm going to find somewhere else because this is disturbing and is also prohibiting me from full use of the space. The folks at the facility were fine. My displeasure is with corporate. My debit card was compromised and thus my automatic payment was declined and before I knew what had happened I was already fined and my back up person was contacted. No one bothered to see what the issue was, and it was my first occurrence . I have a high credit rating and rarely miss a payment on anything. Get your stuff together U-Haul. Bad truck with check engine light that popped on during a long trip between states. Didn't get the truck I originally reserved an entire MONTH in advance. The storage unit I requested a month in advance wasn't available either. There is a pandemic and THEY DIDNT CLEAN THE TRUCK AFTER THE PERSON BEFORE ME. The previous customer pulled up and they told me that this was my truck. Worst experience ever. Who cares about convenient hours. I was happy with U- Haul staff however during the corona epidemic I could not enter the building without wearing a mask lights is completely understandable but when I got in the building nobody else had a mask on none of the staff had mask on so why not understanding what the situation is also outside the building people were parking everywhere walking everywhere and your staff outside the building there were tools all over the ground air hoses everywhere I've tripped massive x almost fell and nobody said or did anything about it and I know there's a lot of people in this world these days if they get hurt on your property they will sue you I would recommend U-Haul to a friend however when I clean my unit out there was rat feces everywhere I was told I have to sweep that out that's not what I was storing that's not my garbage I didn't bring them there I know I didn't and I even put repellent and stuff down before I move my stuff in so I'm not understanding what I'm supposed to do I have to clean everything but I put in there again everything and that's costing me money and time so I paid to store my stuff there and then when I get it to where I'm moving to I have to open everything outside shake it and then clean it and make sure I'm not bringing any mice or rats or bugs home thank you very much I appreciate U-Haul staff was very nice to me they talk to me with respect and manners and they were very nice thank youDavid H. | Overall Experience
