Kevin B.I was here last week and the blonde lady gave me a hard time about my ID because it was older and not in the best shape so she refused to rent to me, even with a past rental history of about five rentals per month for years now from other locations. I then walked out and drove to the Hillsborough location where the gentlemen processed my rental in five minutes without issue. A few days later I dealt with another Jem at the front desk, younger dark (and blue) haired lady. I needed a pick up truck and was told nothing was available, while staring at one. This was around 10am and after ten minutes of wasting time I finally asked if the “reserved†pick up was reserved for that same day and she says no, their reservation starts tomorrow. I said well I only need it for four hours and will be back by 6pm, long before the “reservation†for tomorrow at 8am. She agreed to rent it to me for a few hours. After taking a year and a day processing me, I get the keys. Go out to the truck and the key won't work, I read the labor and she gave me keys for a van. I go inside to ask because clearly she made a mistake, and she says I decided to give you the van instead. I never asked for the van, never wanted the van, and we explicitly referred only to the pick up at this point, even advising me I had to have it back that same night; then takes it upon herself to give me a van. Now with other customers, she gets extremely rude from behind the desk and as noted above, “I decided to give you the van.†To point to the correct van she comes out from behind the desk to point out the window and upon returning nubs her shoulder into mine while I'm standing still and let's just say she isn't a small individual. Extremely unprofessional. I get in the van and it smells like cat piss and the gas is notably below the 3/4 line that miss personality has noted on my paperwork inaccurately. Wasn't even worth bringing it to her attention. Instead to drive three blocks down the road and back, I put in $10 of gas prior to my arrival to avoid any future hassle, even though I literally didn't even use the gas. Not happy at all, and will never be back to this location. Which is sad, because it's three blocks from my house and the location itself is hide with great potential, but until they do a complete overhaul at the front desk, it's not worth my time or money.

Cari J.The representative was very friendly, explained everything and was able to resolve missing equipment that I had reserved but was unavailable upon my arrival. The techs loaded the trailer on my hitch and explained everything to me as a female that was not condescending or assuming and I appreciated that. On return the young tech that checked the trailer in was also very helpful and luckily reminded of my rented dolly as I had left in in the old apartment. I was able to retrieve it and he finalized my receipt. Much thanks with his patience and cooperation. They could have easily penalized me but they did the right thing. I will most likely drive a few extra miles for my college kids next move just to work with this particular dealer.

THE STAFF HAD DECENT ATTITUDES OVERALL, BUT THE BUSINESS ASPECT WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE WHATSOEVER.
Raheem W.Provide ample scheduled customer service agents (on hand) to timely and effectively service volume of customers waiting to rent uhaul vehicles and storage units. When I paid for and picked up trailer I had already reserved, there was only one fantastic, professional and knowledgeable staff member (Star) working the customer service counter with each of the three counter sevice spots occupied by customers (one was me) with 4 other customers waiting in line. Star was definitely multi-tasking, getting it done, she texted co-workers for help yet I didn't witness any support help showing up to help until I was leaving the office area, I opened the door for the two other staff ladies (who were outside) to enter into the customer service area so they could come to Star's aid. Big big huge work ethics to Star for holding it down, getting it done for us, your uhaul customers.

The only tiny thing I would change is the pick up truck was a little bit dirty on the inside. I hate to be “Karen†lol but that was the only thing I would change is a more clean vehicle.

Leslie Paul W.When i entered the vehicle is had a little odor, also the tire pressure sensor light was on when I first got in van, but I just went ahead and stopped off highway and put air in it at gas station. Just hope everything is good to go next time I rent as I'm a repeat customer. Other than that the staff is amazing and I love renting from this location mainly cause the staff are such great people.
CHRISTOPHER S.The representative who aided me in securing my automobile to the auto transport attached the wheel tie down incorrectly. It came off the driver's side wheel during trip. I was unable to secure tire because mechanism was inoperable due to setup by UHAUL representative. It took the Takoma Park UHAUL representative quite awhile to untangle the wheel securing mechanism UHAUL representative. The passenger side wheel that I secured had no problems. The way to improve service is to make sure UHAUL representative know what they are doing because in most cases customer does not. If both mechanism that secured the tire to the auto transport were inoperable it could have caused serious problems.

Joseph H.When I first went to pick up the uhaul I was embarrassed by both cashiers bc the computers kept denying my credit cards, they ended up using the credit card I had in the account which was the same one that they were scanning and if finally went through, on top of that I turned in the uhaul correctly , scary the barcode etc, yet I still got charged $20 for the after hour service fee, and $15 for 3 gallons of gasoline that I didn't not use. Something that should of cost me less then $40 ended up being $80. I plan on never using uhaul again unless I'm desperate and never this location.

Kiela M.My experience with the U-Haul service was great. the day I come came in to pick up the pick-up truck the guy(guy with a ponytail) that helped me was knowledgeable regarding every question I asked about the rental. Made the process go very smoothly and quickly . When I returned the rental that when I ran into a VERY rude employee. He was a Spanish guy with the bad skin in the front and he was VERY rude & dismissed me two different times. I was thinking maybe he wasn't in the clock but just killing company time. Then I noticed that he took the time to speak & help with a guy that walked in after me. I felt as if I was dismissed due to the fact that I was a women. I don't know why the Spanish guy with the bad skin felt the need to be rude to me. For that reason I wouldn't recommend family or friends to go to that location because of that rude guy.

The unit is listed as 9' high, but I don't have use of 9' due to pipes and a red line on the wall as a warning, that should be provided before renting the unit. 2. There are not enough carts in case multiple people are there loading/unloading. I went there to unload and a group had both carts, leaving nothing for anyone else. 3. People leave carts wherever they please, so they are not always in the front.

Sharath G.I was told to call customer service to check availibilty for a one-way rental and after being told by the representive on the phone that there was nothing he could do to assist me I ended the call. When I returned to the counter to continue with my existing reservation I was told an "notification alert" was put on my order because I hung up. I didn't appreciate that considering I wasn't rude or disrespectful to the respresentative on the phone. I'd appreciate if customer service didn't flag customer's account unnecessarily. Even the representative at the counter laughed at the unnecessary alert that was put on my account.

No one would come over to the unit and help me. One month after I moved in I got a email saying I had the inappropriate lock I was locked out of my storage unit. And I just recently got another email telling them it's urgent I need to contact them they didn't like the way I locked my unit. Will never rent from U-Haul truck or a storage unit again

Mikayla S. | First ImpressionsI made my reservation almost a month ago and when I arrived at the location, I was first informed the computers were down and I had to wait roughly one hour for them to come back up. When they finally came back up I was informed by the shift manager, there were no storage units available. I attempted to contact the store manager, but had no response. I next tried to contacted the GM from my cell a couple times to hopefully have the issue resolved, but no luck. I next attempted to call the GM from the store phone and she answered. I explained to her my situation, and she informed me she would make a call to the manager on shift, but never did. The GM was no help at all and never contacted me back to give me an update. Luckily one of the gentleman at the store noticed how frustrated I was because I was waiting for an hour for the computers to come back up and to then be informed there was no storage available. I also had a trailer to return and limited time and he luckily found me another storage unit. This was by far the worst UHAUL experience yet. Only good news was the gentleman on shift came through in the end!!!

However, when I arrived for my check-in I was told the storage unit I booked wasn't available. The unit I was given in replacement was smaller then I booked. At the end of the day I was still able to fit my things miraculously. The store was able to rectify the situation at the end of the day as well. The associates at this location were super understanding and helpful but the process could of been smoother.

I made a reservation on line for the biggest storage unit and when I got there the storage unit I reserved was already occupied. This caused me to have to get a smaller unit which makes my life more hectic than it already is, due to having to pull everything out each time I want something out of the unit. Not only that every time I book something with Uhaul the name that shows up on my reservation which is not my name but it is all my information every time the staff has to go in and fix it so it can reflect my name. It would seem as though it could be permanently fixed by now but it is not.

When I tried to leave my gate code didn't work. When I finally got out of the gate and arrived at the next facility, my coffee didn't work to get into the facility. By this time the physical office had closed, so I was forced to keep the Uhaul over night because I did not have access to a storage unit.

But the representative I worked with to check in was a bit rude when I explained that I already had a disk lock and did not need to purchase one. Additionally I was a bit confused with the insurance. I added it on for my first month and asked if I could take it off for the second to save a bit of money since for the second "month" as I will only be in the unit for three additional days. At this point I was told the insurance was mandatory even though it is billed as optional when I selected the unit online. It's completely fine if I need to have the insurance I was just a bit confused as that was the first time I heard it referred to as required.

And then when I was I think 6 days late moving out they tried to charge me for an entire month. Then Katrina told me to talk to Marcus to settle it , he gave me a price of half a month , a week more than I used , and then they sent me a bill for another half month even after I moved out a week before the half month I paid for . My worst experience with U Haul in over 50 years of dealing with them .
