The front desk gave very minimal instructions over the phone and when I needed directions. I had to figure out how to get to the entrance with my moving truck myself. When I asked questions, he gave me a very condescending tone with his answers. Was not helpful at all

While the Van I rented was; well kept warmed when I picked it up, and was helpful in my days tasks, the customer service is where this experience with U-Haul Lacked. When picking up my van early in the morning, the gentleman at the desk asked how many miles I'd estimate I would be driving that day, to which I responded between twenty and thirty, which he reaffirmed to me and and I then settled on twenty. After dropping off the van, I had driven twenty three miles. Thus, being over my estimated miles, I was charged for this. This gentleman however had in the early morning, written down that I would be driving an estimated three miles instead of twenty... this is something I had not noticed until I was charged once more after returning the vehicle with a Full Tank of Gas. I called to ask why I was charged for again and was semi rudely explained to that The man had charged me for incorrect milage and I in a hurry and upset, I didn't complain, I simply thanked him and hung up. three miles from twenty three is quite the difference. We were face to face, I said twenty to thirty, and the fact that we agreed on twenty and he still over the phone so coldly, and boldly just told me that we agreed on three, honestly blew me and I just have to chop it up to him being fresh off the hangover or something it was like eight am, but dawg, return my bred or sum like, you screwed up, it aint that deep we all human, but this mf Juss hung up. Anyway, yeah so Juss double check ya numbers when they ringin you up because bret, or brig, or whatever the guys name is, you fuckn wit my money n this economy aint it, real talk you lame for that. Im too cool to go off tho n this comment is already stupid too much, but whatever companies like it. Yeah.

Terribly inconvenient drop location I was rerouted to. The one I selected and was approved for was less than a mile to my apartment and very walkable. The one rerouted to was over 2 miles away and it was much to cold at night to walk. Very disappointing.

Don't charge customers for gas when they filled gas and returned it where it was when we left. I literally drove 5 miles total and they marked that the gas went down by quite a bit. Besides the fact that I filled some gas, there is no way it went down that much as I barely drove it. The charge was removed, but had to waste my time calling to have it removed.

The Fullerton location is awesome, 5 stars. Except U-Haul changed my booking from this location that is staffed with awesome people and actually open when I need it. Corporate moved my reservation to Belmont/Damen for a 7pm pickup time. They might be awesome there too but the location is closed at that time. I was left to an app I had to download in the rain and that: required my passport (don't carry that on me and never gave the impression I was going to come close to an international border) and/or two people to be called and verify I was renting a truck. This time overestimating the amount of discussions I have regarding truck rentals. Customer service said they'd transfer me to a manager to help, but instead dropped me back in gen pop like the service rep I was talking to sounded like she was from. Alas, a direct call to Fullerton and a 1.3 mile walk in the rain and I was on my way.

Its not in this location but I picked up a load share in 3250 north kenzie avenue and Stephanie in the front desk was VERY rude, they gave us the wrong load and after 30 min called us and said we needed to go back and change it and that it was our problem because we have the person outside the wrong load number, after that she started laughing and mocking that we had to come back. The check in process with the app was unbelievably bad. After thirty minutes of futzing with the app, I was assigned a truck that was parked in. I had to go wait another 15 minutes in line. And then was given another truck. Was told that the app doesn't work well at this location. Why did you waste my time like this? Unbelievable? Also was charged $6 for gas when I drove about a mile (the checkout stated it was two miles). The cost of gas per mile in a u-haul truck should be about 0.50.

They gave a truck with 3/8 tank of gas for an out of state move Truck wouldn't start at one point to the extent I was hesitant to turn the truck off Despite returning the truck a day early and 29 miles under, I was charged the full amount due to a "safe move" package/bundle Talking to customer service, they tried to convince me the non-optional bundle was them doing me a favor Overall very displeased with the service, billing structure, and equipment. Staff very helpful even though very busy. One employee (didn't get his name) went out of his way to help me find something I accidentally left behind. He has helped me in the past too. He says he has worked there for several years and is a little older than many of the other workers. He is on the short side, possibly Latino. As always the U-Haul technology is 5 stars. Everything can be done easily through the app. This facility was very convenient and close to DePaul University. It was spotless. Well maintained. Thank you for lending carts which all had numbers so it was easy to borrow and return to the right place. Move out was just as easy as moving in. The onsite staff were friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

I can't rank my experience low enough. I booked a Uhaul truck to do a one-day local move on 7/31, but my new unit was not quite ready for move-in, so I planned on keeping my things in the truck for a couple hours. However, at the Uhaul Lincoln Park location, the manager explained they wanted the truck back for other customers to use ASAP. I agreed to rent a storage unit for the time being, but the Uhaul location did not have any large enough to fit my things. The manager then suggested I transfer my things to a UBox and I agreed, since that seemed like the best option for both parties and I was trying to be reasonable and accommodate their busy schedule as well. If I knew how terribly it would go, I would have never agreed. My delivery was scheduled for Saturday 8/3. Friday, while I was at work, I received a voicemail that they were cancelling my delivery and offered me no other explanation or solution besides to wait until Monday. Move-ins at my building need to be scheduled ahead of time for an elevator reservation, so this was hugely inconvenient already. I also had movers hired and had to pay a deposit for cancelling last minute. Furthermore, the customer service for Uboxes specifically is impossible to reach- at multiple points in time, other customer service agents that I reached by chat could not even reach the Ubox scheduling department. There also seems to be a massive information disconnect, as the people on site at U-Haul, the scheduling department, and the customer service line are not in communication with each other. On Monday, I was informed the box would be delivered between 2 and 4. I took off work, convinced my apartment building to let me have a last minute elevator reservation, and hired movers again. Uhaul no-showed my delivery, and only after I called and waited on hold for an hour did they tell me the delivery was cancelled again. I had to pay my movers full price this time because they showed up and Uhaul did not even have the courtesy to call me and inform me of the cancellation. I was then told my box would arrive first thing the following morning 8/6. I took off work, rescheduled my movers, and got another elevator reservation. The window for delivery (8:45-10:45) once again passed with no call or update from U-Haul. At this point I had wasted hours of my life over 5 days on hold with customer service so I just went back to work. Later that afternoon I got a call that my box had been delivered! With no warning or update from U-Haul, I was in the middle of a meeting at work and did not have movers scheduled. I also did not have a reservation for move-in at my apartment building so they left the box on the street in downtown Chicago. I had to scramble to find friends available in the middle of a week day to help me move my belongings off the street, and once again my work day was interrupted. Their customer service is impossible to reach, offers no reasonable solutions, and wasted hours of my time, I wasted hundreds of dollars on movers that showed up just to be cancelled on, had to pay a fine at my apartment building for a last minute move in with no reservation, didn't have any of my furniture to sleep on for 5 days, and didn't have my personal belongings which interrupted a planned trip out of state (my clothes and luggage were in the box). I can't begin to quantify the cost I have paid for this experience and how inconvenienced I was. I am truly shocked by the lack of professionalism. I don't think I've ever written a negative review before, but this past week has been one of the most stressful experiences. I'm not sure how this is a sustainable model as the deliveries are impossible to plan for. Later the same evening of the delivery, I got a voicemail that they needed a card on file in order to pick the box back up. I found this hilarious as 1) I have an account in the app and have a stored payment method which I used to book this whole thing originally 2) They called me probably 10 times over 3 hours after I had been unable to reach them for days. I finally called back because I was honestly interested in speaking to someone at this point, and the man that answered the phone threatened that they wouldn't pick the box up if I didn't provide a card number. I giggled at that because at this point I could not care less what happened to the box and told him so. He then threatened that I would never be able to rent from U-Haul again if I didn't give him a card number. I explained that I wouldn't use U-Haul ever again if my life depended on it and he said he would relay the message to his manager who would contact me the following day. I have not heard back from U-Haul since and I'm guessing I won't, although I would be interested to hear how they could possibly justify this level of incompetence. I did file a complaint with the BBB, as I truly hope no one else ever has an experience like this.

I struggled to find the room given there are two buildings. When I pulled into the first building there were two staff members in the bay who essentially ignored me. When I went into the office to ask, the staff member there was kind and helpful.

The website was a little confusing for picking out a unit as a newcomer to UHaul storage. Unfortunately we were unable to fit our couch through the staircase & door. Perhaps the website could more clearly indicate the tighter size restrictions for split-level units. I would also definitely appreciate more photos of the different types of units. After visiting the location in-person, I realized my mistake. Besides that the experience was good.

I felt like I was going to get ripped off at every corner. As soon as I pulled off the lot my truck went up a mile and the gas gauge dipped below where they recorded. Customer service took hours to speak with someone, thankfully I was not charged a late fee due to their tiny parking lot being completely full. I had to wait an hour to unload. This isn't the staff, this is the location. Regardless of their being uhauls all down the road, this is the only one next to a college and transient community. Fore warnings for surcharges will make the company look more credible and less sneaky. No one likes a sneak surcharge for something that you have no control over. Also, the 15" trucks do not fit on east side of the storage facility. It would be nice if this was taken in account on the website for this facility so that people wont have to make changes at the front desk. Jayce helped me out at this location and is an optimal employee. He was patient and attentive in a zoo of people. There was another gentleman that helped me in the morning and he was nice too. Kudos to them for being a shining example of quality customer service. They get 5 stars for sure!

My movers were stuck on elevator for 1 hour, which delayed our time schedule. Mr. Mueller needs to be trained in better customer service. I sent an email April 15th & April 17 informing him of my move and no longer using storage as of April 19th, 2024. He never replied to my notices. So I had no idea if he ever received my emails confirming. Even after notifying Uhaul of my last day, I was billed on April 26th,2024. Mr. Mueller can never be reached. I plan on following through with the CEO of Uhaul.

Your second building where I got my unit now has access code issues. Also does not feel safe and bathrooms don't work there. Hope those are temporary problems and you fix them.

I've been there 2 days, the elevator was out of service, we have to stay two days getting out my stuffs by the stairs and I don't feel no one sense of urgency to help. It was the worst experience I've ever done! I stay from 2pm to 2am late night to carry my stuffs in my arms, through the stairs.

Experience was totally fine except for the fact you don't prorate your monthly charge. That was unexpected and something I will remember the next time I need storage. I moved out 2 days after my monthly renewal. It would've been nice to have a weekly charge rather than a whole month

No one ever answered calls. I would even leave messages with customer service reps and the location would never get back to me. This location charged me after I moved out and then I had to spend over an hour in the phone trying fix their mistake. The manager, Martin, is so rude and does not do his job properly. In person, Martin was rude to me after a mistake was made by a different manager, as he tried to blame me for it. Even after he was the one to move me out of my storage unit, two days later he sent email saying I would be charged. I called and told them I had moved out, Martin helped, and that I should not be charged. Two weeks later they took $100 from the. Had to fight to get the money back. Another employee had to help and was super kimd
