The workers behind the front desk were generally quite nice and helped wherever they could. However, the first van was missing its catalytic converter. The van second had a cracked windshield when I got it and smelled strongly of smoke. The smoke smell was mentioned as likely due to someone smoking while cleaning the vehicle, and was overwhelming until the vehicle was properly aired out. The vehicle worked well enough on the road though. Also, returning via the website is a mess. Trying to access my rental using the rental number and name without a login is totally non-functional. After logging in and associating the rental, the location page had issues where it wouldn't ask for location permission. Also, that page was mostly unnecessary. The final (I think) page of the return had greyed out numbers and no completion button, making me feel like I couldn't complete my return. It turns out I only really needed to park the van and drop off the keys, which would have been a wonderful experience if it was clear that was all I needed to do.Matthew C.

Charity the customer service representative at the desk was wonderful. However when obtaining our truck, no one will assist us in pulling it out of a very tight spot between multiple trucks. A ground worker for U-Haul stated it's all yours now insinuating that it is not his responsibility to help us. Also the truck was damaged in multiple areas and the photos that were provided to us to compare were not up-to-date whatsoever, easily causing the person who rents the truck to be liable for previous damage to the vehicle. I reserved this over the phone on a Friday morning. It was supposed to be for an after hours 8pm pick up. 24 hour total rental. When I got there at 8:03 an employee in the parking lot told me the store was closed and I said I have an after hours rental. Another employee came out and got my name then went back inside to check the computers. When they came back out they said they had no record of my reservation and i tried to give them my order confirmation # and they said they were closed call uhaul. Then they locked the doors. I stood in the parking lot calling uhaul who informed me my wait time would be 50 to 62 minutes. After waiting in the parking lot for an additional 20 minutes I rode home still on hold. At one hour and 9 minutes the call disconnected from Uhauls side. I called back and waited another 40 plus minutes to speak to someone. Janine answered and said she apologized for the mess up but whoever I spoke with originally didn't enter something correctly so I wasn't set up for an after hours reservation. To which I replied if the store closes at 8pm and I say I want to pick it up at 8pm an employee would either say a) that location closes at 8 so you would have to come sooner or b) let me set you up with an after hours pick up. Janine says she had it situated and changed my reservation for 8 am the following day. (Over 2 hours of my time wasted on uhauls incompetence). The next morning I arrived and checked out with the assistant manager. I explained the mess up from the night before. He credits my account $50 and hands me the keys (no truck check, no walk through, nothing). I have van for the event I needed and then went to return it after hours again. When I get to the location the app says they have no record of me having any equipment. I wait on phone for ANOTHER hour to try to return the keys since I left the truck parked there and locked it. The woman I spoke with that evening was RUDE as all get out. What utter incompetence at all levels. Then they tried to charge me when I had paperwork showing I had a credit!Adrienne B.

Sadly, we had a strrict schedule to maintain and the truck, when we picked it up setting in the yard of your facility, had been vandalized by the catalytic converter being cut out and stolen. Thus, the muffer was unable to contain the noise of motor operation. We had used this same truck the previous week and it operated very well back then. Your reps were courteous about all this, but we suggest that a visual inspection by them before assigning to renters be used for future rentals if the potential for more vandalism exists. The location services on the website weren't working, so I had to go into the store for the rental. There was a line of about 4 people that took 30 minutes. The truck was damaged. I feel that my Uhaul experience couldn't be improved on, I exclusively rent ALL my trucks from this location and have never been happier with the service from the staff, they always make picking up and dropping off so effortless, they have every supply you'll need in stock and if you have a question they have the answer! The truck I rented either has a front passenger wheel that is out badly of balance, or other problem. When carrying a load it was exacerbated by poor road conditions on I-44 near Cuba, Mo. Less so with no load on return. Truck was drivable and all ended up well.David H.

The trailer I had reserved hadn't been returned so manager on duty contacted another location -no luck. He made sure I had a trailer at a very good rate. Then came the even better part. I had a blown fuse and, despite it being after closing time, he helped me locate the fuse and get it replaced so I could be on my way. Solid move. Also, when I dropped it off, there was a gentleman that helped me problem solve getting the trailer off the hitch because it proved to be a challenge I couldn't figure out.John C.

**CHECK EVERY ASPECT OF YOUR UHAUL. PLEASE read full review as this location is actually pretty great** My mother drove my uhaul for me since I am more than halfway through my pregnancy, and unfortunately it appears the uhaul we rented was not examined thoroughly before we got it. As we were loading up from our move, a LOADED HEROIN NEEDLE, UNCAPPED, was found in the truck with THREE PILL CAPSULS of heroin. When we returned the uhaul to John's Service in Arnold (DO NOT GOVE THAT MAN/LOCATION BUSINESS AT ALL. EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL). My mother called the service line extremely upset as this put my unborn child and I, my boyfriend, and my mother all at risk- the representative was extremely helpful and very apologetic, empathizing with my mother on the horrible experience. Manager Keith did not hesitate to authorize a full refund to my mother for the incident. Delivery drivers were GREAT on both ends. Very professional, very friendly. It was a little tough getting the right person on the line, using your phone system. I wasted hours on it. I’ve been here before for storage rental and truck rental…this time was not good. The girl behind the counter acted like she had better things to do than wait on customers - she barely spoke to me and when she did I wasn’t even sure if she WAS talking to me because she was eating at the same time. Quite unprofessional. I felt like I was interrupting or annoying her, which is never a good feeling for a customer. :( Then when I tried to come back at 7:45pm to put some things in my storage unit, my key card wouldn’t work and said it was “after hours” although the reader displayed access hours until 10pm. I rented a storage locker at the South County location months ago. While Keith, the manager, did act professionally I have a negative experience while checking out. As a customer acting in good faith, I pre-paid my rental every month. This most recent pay period I pre-paid for October and November. It was to go from the 15th to the 15th. Your records will reflect this information. I was able to retrieve all my belongings and check out on the 16th. I requested a pro-rated refund because I only used the unit for one day yet paid for the entire month. I was told, rudely, by the front line staff "NO PRORATES!" While I understand that as a business model, I explained that they could rent the unit to another customer thereby making more money. Again, I was treated rudely. I want access to UNIT 1302 until November 15th, since I paid for it. Do not rent that unit, although it is empty, to another customer. I wanted to provide this negative feedback and I will update a YELP review as well. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information that might be helpful. I can’t remember her name, but the young lady that set up my account initially and she was also there the day that I emptied my storage locker for the first time. It was completely wonderful engaging and made the experience great. There were some hiccups along the way with adequate payment processing and auto payment not being set up. However, her disposition makes all of the errors utterly OK with me. Also, your regional VP I spoke with took the time to give me a call and apologize for another situation.
