I rented a storage locker at the South County location months ago. While Keith, the manager, did act professionally I have a negative experience while checking out. As a customer acting in good faith, I pre-paid my rental every month. This most recent pay period I pre-paid for October and November. It was to go from the 15th to the 15th. Your records will reflect this information. I was able to retrieve all my belongings and check out on the 16th. I requested a pro-rated refund because I only used the unit for one day yet paid for the entire month. I was told, rudely, by the front line staff "NO PRORATES!" While I understand that as a business model, I explained that they could rent the unit to another customer thereby making more money. Again, I was treated rudely. I want access to UNIT 1302 until November 15th, since I paid for it. Do not rent that unit, although it is empty, to another customer. I wanted to provide this negative feedback and I will update a YELP review as well. Please let me know if I can provide any additional information that might be helpful. This was not our chosen location. The night before our pickup day we found out our location changed 20 miles away. The reason given was that the original location had all their trucks in repair! We desperately tried to find another location near our home, but most were already closed and the rest had nothing available. We reluctantly drove the 20 miles to the Dutchman location and found that they didn't have the furniture dolly we had reserved/paid for. Not their fault, but frustrating. They were very accommodating, gave us additional mileage due to the distance we had to travel, gave us a regular dolly free of charge, and set up the drop off at the location we wanted, not the one the computer picked for us. Thankfully they helped and made right what started out as a nightmare.Gary S.

I was told that they did not have the trailer the day before I needed it so I had to drive way down in the city to get it , they also told me that if they did not have it they would send somebody to go get it and when I asked them they said they did not have anybody to do it. There was a hypodermic needle in the box of the truck. It was obvious that a homeless person / drug addict used this truck to shoot up drugs. I reported this to UHaul and heard nothing back. I can't remember her name, but the young lady that set up my account initially and she was also there the day that I emptied my storage locker for the first time. It was completely wonderful engaging and made the experience great. There were some hiccups along the way with adequate payment processing and auto payment not being set up. However, her disposition makes all of the errors utterly OK with me. Also, your regional VP I spoke with took the time to give me a call and apologize for another situation. They were slow. It took 10 minutes for them to find the keys to the rental. Trying to complete pictures by mobile was impossible not at beginning and end. The store was closed when I returned vehicle. Called 800 number waited 30 minutes , so I took pics and left. Tried calling again and left a number and they said they would call back in 30 minutes but it was longer and when I got a call back I was on hold another 30 minutes The only positive of the whole experience was the amazing lady who helped figure everything out. Your reservation system is deplorable. Constantly rerouting either the location or size of truck. If the vehicle is not available, then show that! I had to make 4 different reservations and change moving days to complete my order.Keith A.

I answered that the truck was clean except that the prior renter(s) had, unfortunately, been smoking in the truck which made it unpleasant for two non-smokers on a 5 hour trip. Nonetheless, we were thankful for getting help from this location as our original truck from the Knightsbridge location had a broken gas gauge that they said they were unable to fix. We were given the option of 1) taking it with the broken gauge (however, that was not an acceptable option for a trip from St. Louis to Chicago) or 2) taking an Uber 30-40 minutes to another location for the only truck they could find, a larger truck. At the last minute, our smokers' truck was located about 10 minutes away at the Gravois location. I asked for a 40% reduction for our inconvenience and was offered 20% instead, which I accepted. After already having one reservation cancelled with only 1 hours notice at another location, the van I had reserved at this location was rented out. Luckily the mostly unfriendly employees at this location were able to get me the other van they had on site. The U-Haul app also would not upload a picture when I was returning the van, luckily I was able to use the website from my phone. I was also supposed to receive 50 dollars for my original reservation being cancelled which was supposed to be "guaranteed"Kevin K.

We were very disappointed with a series of miscommunications by Uhaul about (1) when our Uboxes would arrive at the warehouse near our new residence and (2) when we could have our movers pick up and deliver our Uboxes to our new residence. These miscommunications caused several headaches and unnecessary delay in us getting our stuff. Uhaul should fix its online booking system to prevent customers from booking movers on days that Uhaul won't allow the movers to retrieve Uboxes, and Uhaul should fix its internal systems for calculating and reporting to the customer when Uboxes will arrive from their point of origin.Joel N.

These two locations were good. The overall company and organization of reservations was extremely difficult and frustrating. I made a reservation five weeks prior to our date. They wanted us to drive over an hour away to pick up our truck. When we said no the next closest location was 40 minutes away on our way to this location they called and said the truck was not working. Then gave us another location In The total opposite direction but did open till later. So our final location was a thirty minute drive to pick up the truck. We spent a day prior and day of pick up on the phone trying to get whar we had reserved. I would not use them ahainJohn M.

To improve for the next customer, match how the store location operates with instructions given by the app for self-servicing. There was no â€œskip the lineâ€ set up in the store the way the app explained and instructed. The store was very busy and I couldn't get anyone's attention. I saw on a back wall where my key was so I walked behind the counter, grabbed my key, showed it to the worker (who I pissed off because I went behind the counter), and then left the store to finish my self check-in with the key. I wasn't waiting in that huge line of people; the whole point was to expedite the process with a DIY approach. When I returned the equipment, I followed the instructions in the app which said just to take a picture of where I parked the vehicle. I parked it in the exact location I picked it up from. A worker came out and said if I'm returning I have to move the vehicle to the â€˜returned equipment lane' and repeated this firmly to me twice, even after I said I was just following instructions given by the app. When I moved the vehicle, the same worker said to leave the keys in the ignition switch but not to lock the vehicle's doors. The app said to lock the door though. I left the door unlocked but felt unsettled doing so because I didn't want to risk liability on my part when I'm receiving conflicting information between the app and the store. So, if you can make the store and the app consistent, it would deliver faster service for the customer (ensuring they return equipment on time because time wasn't wasted), it would avoid frustration for the busy employees, and it would extend confidence in the UHaul experience as opposed to the confusion and lack of confidence I experienced.Jessica P.
I was charged a fuel fee when I actually returned the van with more fuel that it had. I was also charged with van insurance which I had declined. When I picked up the van, the mileage and fuel levels were incorrect. When I tried to update them via the mobile app, the application experienced an error so I had to go back inside and wait in line AGAIN! I was not given any preferential treatment even though I was just experiiencing a problem. I had to wait for the 2 customers ahead of me. When I returned to get my charges adjusted, no one seemed to interested or sorry about all the issues I had.Kim S.

I rented a 5x8 enclosed trailer. The gentlemen that checked me in was also the one to connect the trailer to my vehicle. He went through his whole process and told me I was good to leave. I reaffirmed with him that everything was good to go and he said yes. Two blocks away from the U-Haul, I heard the grinding on the ground and hit my breaks, only to have the trailer slam into the back of my vehicle. Luckily it hit the hitch so it didn't damage my vehicle. It was at that point that I realized it was off the hitch so I slowly came to a stop. I got out and checked my car to make sure it wasn't damaged. Then put it back on the hitch. The employ at u-haul did everything but actually tighten the trailer knob to keep it on the ball. I was one block from getting on the expressway. I'm thankful it fell off when it did and not on the expressway because that could have been very bad. I was very very upset that it happened in the first place. I even called the store but I believe the person that called was the same one who connected the trailer. He said he would the let the supervisor know but I knew he wouldn't even tell on himself. So I called the 1800 number and filed a complaint. What bothers me the most is that the General Manager never even called to apologize. Horrible customer service. I'll never rent from this location ever ago.ESTEBAN M.
