Properly answering the phone by giving the customer the opportunity to ask a question before you put them on hold. Example: here is how the call went, U-Haul hold. Then you wait until they return which is a long wait. My time is important and to answer a simple question before I even get a chance to say anything, is poor phone service. It should have been something like good morning this is ( name) with U-Haul, how many I assist you today? Instead it was like this U-Haul hold.

Great place to rent from!
JOHN LEROY W.Make sure the vehicle is clean, and serviced. I had to clean food crumbs, coffee and pop off the seats, steering wheel and dashboard. The inside of the windshield, and cup holders were filthy. The A/C kept cutting out. The truck needs an alignment. The transmission whined excessively, and the vehicle was difficult to shift into any gear. The truck wouldn't start when we stopped for gas. It had to be placed into neutral to start the truck. Fortunately, I have automotive experience and was able to troubleshoot the issue.
Brandon B.I have used U-Haul many times in the past but, this time may be my last. It started when I went to the U-Haul location, one mile from my house, to rent a 15' truck. They said, they were rolling out new trucks and to make sure I got one, my rental may be moved to another U-Haul location. I then received a call from the scheduling center that told me my reservation was indeed moved to a different location. That location was 10 miles one-way, from my house. When I showed up at the new location to pick up my truck, the truck had 132,000 miles on it. There were at least 2 other trucks next to it that looked brand new. Due to time constraints, I didn't have time to go back to the office and fight for a newer truck. While driving down the road, I noticed the following. The driver side wiper blade was dislodged from the arm. When I backing up at my first destination, I was told a backup light was not working. Later when driving with the cab windows down, an empty can, face mask, used tissue and a sandwich wrapper, blew out from under the seats. I was told that if my rental should go over and I needed more time, to just call and let them know. I tried to do that twice. Both times I was placed on hold and hung up after being on hold for 10 minutes each time.

Robert M.The two ladies who run your location should have a way of communicating that they're the only ones running the operation. As I waited in line for my turn to start my rental, I had no idea that the two staff were cashiers as well as the ones who set up my trailer. They needed to leave the rental office to do this for several minutes; with no explanation as to why they were gone so long. I didn't mind the wait after knowing this.. They were working super-hard and should be rewarded for their incredible efforts.

In the future I'll have to make sure the reps put in the right date so I'm not harassed first thing in the morning by someone who didn't do their job right.

Kelly M.First reservation I made was accidentally made for the wrong time. This was at the lakeside location in Sterling Heights. The lady that called me from their last minute on Saturday evening was extremely rude on the phone. She called to tell me they did not have a truck available for me at all no matter what time I needed it and I had to call somewhere else last minute on a holiday weekend. I made the reservation 3 days prior. She was rude, offered no help or possible solicit jobs and did not want to help me at all. I immediately hung up and made a reservation at the Gratiot location online. Right after that reservation was made a gentleman called me from Uhaul and checked on me to help with my reservation. He was great!! Very polite and made sure I had everything I needed for the next day. The Clinton Twp location is always very accommodating, everyone that works there is professional and polite. I'll never use the other location again and will drive out of my way to a up them

jeffrey N.We reserved a pickup truck for a few hours. We arrived and they gave us a horrible truck. It was badly dented, side view mirror was shattered, and it reeked of smoke. I mean it smelled so bad that it made us feel I'l. And to top it off the drivers seat was soaking wet. Our pants were soaked through. When we went it tell the person at the desk they just said ‘we'll note it.' We had to drive with windows down and sitting on coats because of the smell and wet seat. Got it back as quickly as we could and went right home and showered. And for this we pairs $80 for 90 minutes and 70 miles of use. I understand that might have been all they had to give us but at least acknowledge the situation and explain it.

These people need to understand that customers will have questions because they do not know the process and do not work for U-Haul.

I was also sadly asked to help ‘lift the trailer' to put it on my ball - this is something I felt the store should've handled (perhaps with a assist lift of some sort). Also I felt the store clerk was a little distracted talking to her co-worker while I was picking up my trailer (as if I wasn't even standing right in front of her-kinda rude I thought but I could tell she did this all the time). So was it a great experience? Nope.

Since I would not be present myself at the move-in, the case didn't fit the normal conditions and one person told me "see on-line." Later, another said, "We can't do that [i.e. secure the locker for a couple of days prior to move-in]" until I demanded it. Then she spoke with the supervisor who agreed to put a "red lock" on the unit until move-in day. Problem solved. If the employee had been better trained, it wouldn't have occurred.

I even called and talked to a young lady in the office that confirmed the details of the unit. The actual unit size was the size of a closet. I requested for the manager to call me and I never received a call. I screenshot the false advertisement for proof. It made the moving process 1000 times More difficult. I don't recommend reserving anything online, or calling to confirm details. You need to just go in and see the unit.
Leah R. | Online Move InI had extreme difficulties getting in touch with customer service to get assistance with issue after issue. It's hard to call directly into this location. The first issue was my uncleaned storage unit on move in day. I had to ask for a broom and clean it myself. I also had to ask for a new animal bate box because the one in my unit was apparently not replaced due to all of the cob webs and hugh white spiders that ran from it when I tapped it with the broom. Second issue, I would recommend Uhaul not sponsoring 'Moving Helpers' on your website. I paid over $300 hiring moving helpers for my storage move who never showed up. I then hired a second moving company from Uhaul's website and again, no show. I traveled from Florida to make this move happen in order to get my things loaded in the uboxes from the storage unit and spent over $1200 for this 1 day move and these moving helpers didn't even have curteousy to call to decline or reject the job through Uhaul's portal to give me an opportunity to look for help elsewhere. Needless to say, I went back to Florida without my things. Which leads me to my last issue. On the day of my arrival at Uhaul for my move out of the storage unit and into 3 unboxes for my out-of-state move, 2 out of my uboxes had no furniture covers that were to come with the uboxes. The third ubox had damaged hardware on the box that made it impossible for me to put a lock on it due to the hardware being bent and hanging on by 1 screw. It was a terrible experience! Had my moving help shown up, I couldn't have completed my move because I didn't have access to a third ubox that I paid for due to the broken hardware. This entire experience was a big negative for me. I don't think I'd recommend this location due to the poor attention paid to the ubox when delivering it and the nastiness of the storage unit that had all of those nasty white spiders and old bait animal box, but the unit was tagged saying something along the lines of cleaned and ready for customer. However, I must say that the employees who work here were extremely helpful and respectful, at least the ones I had direct contact and I know some of these issues were beyond their control, such as the third party moving helpers. My suggestion to new customers is don't use the third party helpers on Uhaul's website because if something goes wrong, Uhaul will be quick to dismiss your concerns and complaints telling you that they have nothing to do with the moving helpers and to contact them. Lastly, I did try to contact Uhaul to resolve this issue before leaving feedback. My issues were not resolved to my satisfaction mainly because I couldn't get customer service for both Uhaul and Movinghelp.com on the line after spending hours and hours on separate days trying to get help regarding my many issues.

Lastly, my customer service experience with all of the employees working at the Clinton Township location and even the employees at your Roseville location were very knowledgeable and so helpful. The staff at Clinton Township made sure I understood the services being offered and were very patient when I had questions. The only reason for a 4-star and not a 5-star is because on move in day, my storage unit was tagged as available for move in (as if it were throughly cleaned and ready to go). My storage unit was NOT cleaned. It was evident when all of the white spiders ran from the pest control bate box that showed evidence that it was very old, covered in dust & spider webs and the unit itself was dusty and has spider webs. I had to call to the front office for someone to bring me a broom. Beth was prompt in coming over to assist. I opted to clean/sweep myself and Beth drove back to the office to get me a freshly made insect/pest box. She apologized for my unit not being properly cleaned and I was thankful for that. Other than these couple of issues, my overall experience I'd say is an A+
