Gregory P.This location is super unprofessional. There is a kid under 12 that rides around on his scooter behind the counter, I think his mom is the manager. When I came to pick up my truck she would only correspond with the clerk via walkie talkie and they couldn't find the truck keys for like 20 minutes. The young kid on the scooter was sent to check the truck and reported back keys were locked in the truck. The manager finally came out to give me a comparable vehicle. When I returned the vehicle the guy at drop off said we were all set, well 30 minutes later I got a voicemail asking me where I was with the vehicle and that I was late and other customers were waiting. I was not late. I tried to call back but there was a wait time of 60 minutes. I drove back to the location to address things and I waited close to 30 minutes again only to be told I'm all set they realized I dropped it off. So I drove and waited for no reason they didn't even bother to call me back to tell me never mind they knew the van was returned. Horrible service at this location.

Having o e staff member answering the phone, attending clients, selling a renter unit, and doing the returns, is wau too much for one person. Carmen was overwhelmed but she did her best in taking care of my daughter and myself. Carmen was by herself doing a 4 man job and I personally felt bad for her. A good manager would ha e staffed the place properly. I saw and witnessed 4 people walking in waiting than left. That is in my book, 4 sales I lost because not enough staff. I was the manager, the place would have been properly staffed and I would have had 4 sales. Overall I had a great experience Luke always. Thank you. Luis De Leon

I would have at minimum a thirty minute wait time before I would get a live body on the line at it be the answering service of the national answering service, I would ask to patched through to the local pine street, Bridgeport, CT office and I would be again be on a longer looong wait time before giving up.

DAMIEN R.My experience in Bridgeport unloading the uBox was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. DON'T USE THIS LOCATION. Scheduling was a nightmare, I called the number listed for their location and was constantly redirected to a customer service facility. The customer service representative would help me scheduling a time to access my box, and then when I'd arrive at Bridgeport they would tell me it wasn't in their system so I couldn't access it. This happened at least 3 different times. My last time there was unbelievable, I had finally gotten in touch with someone from the Bridgeport facility, they told me forklift hours were only 9-4, but eventually they agreed that they would have my box waiting outside for me the following day at 4pm. I arrived at 3:50, my box was still in storage. I went inside to ask them to bring it out, and the general manager Ashley told me to wait 2 minutes for her to finish up with her customer then she'd meet me out back with my box. 20 minutes later I went to check what was taking so long, and found out she had left to pick up her son without telling me. We sat outside in the rain for over an hour before she finally got around to helping us. She barely even apologized, saying that the location was just so busy today, even though I knew she hadn't been helping other customers. She drove the forklift so carelessly that when we got back into the uBox our mirror was shattered. My experience renting and packing the uBox in Carbondale was perfect really. Brad, the general manager at the location, went so out of his way to accommodate our needs, and it was easy to see he cared about our belongings like they were his own.

Rodent infestation was so bad that they got into my suits, only after I opened up the bags after already moving that a mouse jumped out and ran under the sink. Now I have to spend extra money to get the mouse out. If I knew the situation was going to be this bad, I would've used a different storage.

ELAINE J. | First ImpressionsI am writing to you to express my disappointment with the customer service I experienced while at the UHaul location in Bridgeport, CT. I made a reservation for an 5x8 storage unit online for $104.95/month starting 6/26/21. This reservation was made a week before check in. I arrived on 6/26 to check in, Ashley Quiles was the one behind the desk. The store was busy and she was moving very fast. While waiting in line for over 20 minutes, I witnessed her speak rudely to her coworkers and reprimand them in front of customers for using the bathroom. She was impatient with customers and was barely doing the bare minimum to help. When it was finally my turn, she did not make eye contact and continued to speak extremely quickly. I asked her several times to repeat herself or to clarify what she was saying. When it was time to pay, my total was over $120, so I asked her to break that down, as the reservation I made was $104.95. She rolled her eyes and said that it was tax. When I asked her to clarify why there was over $15 of tax, she said very matter of factly replied that was not true. I explained that the reservation I made was for $104.95, she first said that I made a reservation for the first floor, but there were no units left and I had to go on the second floor which would increase the rate. (she had just given away the last first floor unit to the couple in line in front of me). When I challenged that the reservation I made was not being honored, she got very snippy with me and then told me that the rates had gone up. I asked why I had been able to make a reservation at a lower rate and why that rate is not being honored. She was unable to answer the question and was clearly getting annoyed, so I cut my losses and agreed to the higher rate. I went to access the unit, her directions left much to be desired on how to gain access. Upon leaving, I decided to take the stairs. There was no sign on the door of the stairwell indicating that would be a problem.. When I got to the first floor and tried the door, it was locked. Come to find out, I was locked in the stairwell. I tried calling the office, no answer. I tried banging on the doors to get back into the storage area, no response. I tried all of the doors, but could not get out. Ultimately, I had to use the "Emergency Exit Only" door to get out, after spending 20-30 minutes trying to get out. When I returned in August to collect my belongings, I arrived to find two "Wet Floor" signs in front of the elevator. Assuming that someone had just mopped the floor, I got in, only to find that I could not press the button. I used the intercom to speak with the front desk and asked what was going on with the elevator. I was met with exasperation that I would even ask such a question. She acted like I should have known that Wet Floor signs were equal to a broken elevator. After getting nowhere over the intercom, I went over to the main office to see if I could chat with someone and find another way to get to my unit. I was met by Ashely and her rudeness again. She repeated several times, "Like I told you the elevator is not working." I asked if I could use the stairs, she said they were not accessible, when I asked her to clarify, she was unable. When I explained that the stairwell is perfectly usable, as I had already used it once, but needed someone to open the door, she tried to tell me that there are signs saying its for emergency exit only. That was not the case. (There are no signs, and either those doors should be unlocked or signs should be placed IMMEDIATELY. That stairwell is USAFE and a hazard to all of your customers if you are not going to unlock it.) I asked if there was any kind of estimate of when the elevator would be fixed, Ashley was unable to give me any kind of estimate, and was rude throughout the encounter, treating me like I was dumb. I called Eagle Elevator, I asked the operator if they were able to give an estimate, she said the call had come in about 30 minutes earlier and estimated the technician would be at the facility within the hour. And within the hour the technician showed up. When I went to check out of my unit, there were no employees in the store. The woman outside on her smoke break came in to find someone else for me so she could smoke her cigarette. The customer service (or lack thereof) I experienced in working with Ashely was inexcusable. I am in my twenties, I have worked in the service industry. I understand that it is challenging and employees are underpaid. Service employees have one of the most challenging jobs and I acknowledge that. However, a simple apology could go a long way. "I'm sorry, the elevator is not working today. I made a call to the company and they are going to send a technician at their earliest convenience. Unfortunately they did not give me a time estimate, let me call them back and see what I can find out." As a company, you need to provide your employees with better training.

Two other employees were kind and helpful, but, unfortunately, they were not wearing name tags so I cannot commend them directly. The unit I reserved was not correct, meaning I had to get a different unit that was more expensive, just for that price to increase a month later. Not sure if it was the system or the employee, but my autopay was incorrectly setup and I had to dispute late fees that were wrongly applied. When I finally moved out, most of my items were covered in rat droppings and urine. I will likely have to pay to get my mattress professionally cleaned or throw it out and buy a new one. I further experienced even more issues with the moving truck experience, but will leave that out as this is about the unit itself.

Inconveniently, we had to pick up a truck from one location and pack up everything and then offload it into a facility at a completely different location. Will be calling BBB and pursuing legal action as I am 7 months pregnant and this has caused such stress. Will also be asking for a full refund.

They have tainted my experience with uhual with thier unprofessionalism. We choose uhual for our 24 hour journey specifically because I could reserve a storage unit. We arrived at the location at 2 with a confirmation number to get access to our storage. unit. When we got thier they told us that they had given our storage unit away because it is first come first serve. They said that reserving a storage unit doesn't actually mean anything. The uhual website just adds the ability to reserve a unit, so you can think you are getting a unit but you have come here first to get it. He said they dont advertise it but you are not actually reserving a unit. This was infuriating especially after a 24 hour trip that took me 3 days. Then they sent me on a wild goose chase with two other uhuals to find a storage unit. The ordeal took 3 hours. I will not recommend uhual to any of the people I know who are moving and if people ask me about uhual i will make sure to tell them thier are better options. I have had an awful experience! I have put in a report with customer service. As a dissatisfied customer I would appreciate a refund or a discount for the inability to full fill what was agreed on when we purchased the uhual on your website. If this is done, I will be satisfied and just assume it was one bad location. Then I can say uhaul will complete with the promise and you should use uhual because they will treat you right.

Apparently you needed a card to have those doors open, but I did move in online and thought it would be a smooth transaction. I moved in after hours because of my work schedule, and I tried to call the after hours number multiple times, where I was not able to reach anyone for maybe a little direction of help. Facility is clean and organized though, so I am happy about that. I just think it could've been more signs or directions, something else to guide you on the moving into storage process.

Went to office and asked for assistance. Attendant was busy processing truck returns. I said I would try again the next day. Returned to find lock still on unit. Attendant met me at unit and removed the lock. Opened unit to find a 12"+×12"+ vertical support column in the middle of the unit. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the Attendant who said they couldn't do anything. I also requested the round lock that was supposed to be included. Attendant said he would get it and return to the unit. Attendant did not return for 15+ minutes and was outside handling truck returns when I went to find him. I returned to the office after another 10 minutes and he handed me a lock. He said he had to call GM to get access to locks. I asked if he spoke to the GM about the obstruction in my unit and he said No. Summary: The unit is not acceptable and another unit should have been assigned immediately. The customer service was terrible. Besides the waiting, the attendant did not address a significant issue and obvious customer dissatisfaction. The obstruction was not noted on the website or any subsequent communications. I reserved a 5'x10'x10' storage unit. The obstruction reduces the available storage volume and prohibits storage of most wide or long items. I have been waiting for the assignment of a new unit. Please contact me asap to resolve.
