This was such a bad experience that I plan on not using U-Haul again and will not recommend them in the future. The only good thing I have to say is the truck was somewhat clean, in that it wasn't completely filthy. Other than that, there were so many negative aspects. The glass on the dash was cracked with a hole in it you could stick your hand through, the truck was given to me with 1/16th of a tank of gas which required me to go straight to the gas station upon leaving, and the suspension was so terrible that every little bump in the road almost sent me airborne, not to mention the two dressers I had in the back which were damaged as a result. In addition, the truck smelled strongly of sweat and body odor. Also, I reserved online ahead of time in order to skip the line and go straight to my vehicle, but they had it behind a locked gate in a storage area that I could not access and was forced to wait in line in an office smaller than the bathroom in my home for 20 minutes even though I arrived 15 minutes early and there was only one person in front of me. It was simple to reserve the truck online, however the pickup spot changed on us apparently due to a break-in at the first location (according to the worker).Once we figured out the new pickup it was easy. I almost cancelled my rental because of how rude the staff was at this location. When I pulled back to retrieve the vehicle transfer trailer we had paid for, I asked the employee who was supposed to hook up the trailer where I should pull to in order to best hook up the trailer. His response was "I gotta move this damn tow dolly first"... which meant I actually had to hook up to this tow dolly and move across the site before hooking up my vehicle transfer. The employee proceeded to cuss multiple times at me while setting up the trailer, like it was my fault he had to work today. And when finished asked my name... I told him, and his response was "I don't see no damn (Insert Name)", took another 5 minutes before he found the record and I could leave . All around terrible experience for someone who just paid over $1000 for moving equipment, I've been to three Uhaul locations related to this move and this location was by far the worst and rudest staff.Michael B.

It is easy to miss the turn into the driveway and very hard to get turned around to get back to it. Also, the guy that hooked the trailer up did not do a good job and therefore the electrical connector and one of the chains both became detached at different points during our drive.Felicia A.

Returned truck the same way as I received it. The vehicle was clean and had the same amount of fuel. The girl behind the counter told me that they would email me a receipt. The girl didn't do any type of post inspection. So I left, when I received my receipt I was charged 70.00 for fuel! No wonder why they don't want you to hang round. They basically charged me double. The truck had the same amount of fuel that I left with. I will never use this company or location again. If someone is confirmed a rental at one location, and then U-Haul changes pickup locations after confirmation, it should be incumbent upon U-Haul to move the item to the customer's preferred pickup location, especially if it's local. And the site employees should not tell you to contact U-Haul and they will change the location for you when returning it. She was just too lazy to fix the location to where I originally wanted to pickup and drop off. Who knew it would be 3x the rental price to change. Found that out on the phone. And fix the return process. Website repeatedly wouldn't work. Sat on the phone for an hour waiting on customer service and she just blew me off and told me I had to take it back to the pickup location. Had to download the app and create an account I didn't want and go that route. It was buggy and rebooted several times. Took me almost an hour to get it to finally work but couldn't drop the trailer off in a secure area as I didn't get a code. Had to leave it in the front lot. Overall crap experience and would rather go out and buy my own expensive trailer just so I don't ever have to use U-Haul again.Clint P.

I needed an additional 2 hours with my rental and was quoted an extra $70 which was ridiculous. I was then charged for a full extra day of insurance, dolly rentals, and truck rental. Had I known I would have to pay for a full day when I only used 2 hours I would have kept the truck longer. I returned it at exactly the time I said I would. I will not use this company again. I believe I deserve a credit for at least a half day. The truck had the check engine light on the whole time.Lori F.

When I rented the truck a HUGE mistake was made in explaining the check in process upon returning the truck. I was told explicitly to drop the key in the mail slot and then complete the check in on my phone. If you do not immediately recognize the problem with these instructions....I do not know if the employee was new or poorly trained but this should never happen. I had no way of knowing pictures inside the truck were required to check it in. This is why I gave a below average rating.William E.

Truck rental was the worst experience at the location on Summer Ave Memphis we've - We were ask for a third person phone number NOT associated with the truck rental-that person unknown to us had a balance due..Your corporate office approved the rental.The Summers location did not. I would like to state the truth and the whole truth. Upon arriving, my wife met Dantonio, the manager of the facility, who was EXTREMELY HELPFUL! His service was quite pleasant and beyond exceptional. He went above and beyond to take care of my wife's concern's regarding hours which would accommodate our move, etc. -Just overall a great guy. Therefore, Dantonio should be exempt from this rating. The grounds were clean but the facility itself is really very old and honestly, out of 43 times of having to move, relocate, store items due to being a commander in the military, we have never seen an older facility. The positive side is, however, we have never visited a storage facility that had a unit so large. Maybe the unit size is normal but it surely works well for our needs. Now, I will proceed in telling you what our issues have been. Upon returning the truck, my wife received a telephone call from a young lady at the facility who, upon my wife answering, jumped down her throat (verbally), and alleged that we had smoked in the rental truck. My wife tried and tried to explain to the employee that she doesn't smoke, nor do I. Even more, my wive's father, who drove the truck, has medical conditions that would never allow smoke. We aren't sure if the cigarette butts were from the previous driver and city, but we are certain that neither of the three of us left cigarette butts in the vehicle. We cleaned the truck and refueled the truck. We were also under the mileage allowed to us, by approximately 45 miles. The employee informed my wife that she had been attempting to run our card (before speaking with us and ever allowing us an opportunity to hear her concerns or express our rebuttal). Luckily for us, Bank of America was quick to identify the duplicate attempts and block all charges. The employee stated that we had gone over our miles, but upon calling customer service, the agent clearly stated on U-Hauls recorded line that we were under our miles allowed, as I had informed the employee at the location. The employee also falsified information on our account that we had not refueled the truck. We hold fuels cards with two different well known gas stations and their both active with available credit. We fueled the truck up and returned the vehicle. Here's the thing: While the truck was being returned, the "same employee" never mentioned we were below the fuel. She walked around the truck with our person. She never found cigarette butts while in our presence, so honestly, I feel as if we are being manipulated. This isn't how you treat your customers, especially ones who have always used your services and who have..., might I add, never had problems with any other U-Hual location in the past. It surely isn't how you treat an active duty military family who has been pulled here and there, around the world, to fight for the good people of this country. My wife called customer service but still, we are receiving text messages that we have an outstanding balance at the location. We turned the truck in early and after we heard from the location, we called both the location and customer service and requested to go back to the location and clean these alleged butts. However, we never received a call back. A few days later, we received notification, via email, that we now have an outstanding balance at the location. This incident might end decades of us renting with U-Haul. We will consider Budget during our next move.
