I am fairly certain I returned the truck with the same amount of gas-yet I was assessed extra charges for gas. I disputed and was supposed to receive a callback from customer service to discuss. That was Saturday. On Monday, I was charged the extra amount for gas. No callback at all. Nice customer service!ANTWON C.

Fix the parking lot. The pot holes are so big I bottomed out my car pulling in. Fix the "Glitch" in your self return app that unjustifiably charges you for Fuel. Seems more like a scam than a GlitchJerry W.
Never a disappointment at this facility. The staff is never anything less than courteous and professional. The property and trucks are always clean and organized. In-person check-in was a breeze, as was return of the truck. Being a repeat customer I will happily say that Valerie has a stellar team. At the end of our return, Vincent was friendly, thorough and gave great explanation of the final charges. I look forward to my next reservation with the U-Haul Alsip team.Nicolette R.

I rented a 10' truck for 8 hours. I arrived 30 minutes late and by that point my truck had been given away for some reason. When I asked the Uhaul employee why he didn't call me before giving away the truck I had reserved, he said I could have called, which doesn't really make sense for the customer who still has 7.5 hours left on the reservation he's paying for. There was no notice during booking that the reservation was in jeopardy of being given away after a certain amount of time. He then rebooked me for a 15' truck, but gave me a 26 footer, which I didn't notice until return but was way more truck than I needed. It shouldn't matter what time I arrive, if I reserve 8 hours and give you a credit card to charge for it, it should be there when I arrive. Even if I know showed, I would've been on the hook to pay for it, so this makes sense to me. I will not be returning to this locationEUGENE F.
Location I had to go to was not the same location I was scheduled to pick up from. The truck had alignment issues, the driver side door wouldn't shut all the way, and everything in the truck was sticky and smelled like smoke. Had to drive 25 extra miles to return the truck to the location I picked it up from to avoid a $260 fee, even though it was not the location I chose while scheduling.Samuel V.

The vehicle was clean, but old. Over 180,000 miles on it. I'm glad I didn't have to go far. The acceleration was terrible. It was also hard to keep in your lane. I feel that this vehicle should be retired.Greg S.

I didn't appreciate the customer service and they were not clear about the mileage. I was "casually" asked how many miles do you think you'll be using..... I wasn't certain so I guessed at 10 miles. When i brought the truck back after using it for 17 miles (not much, by the way), i was charged more (and the girl wasn't even certain how much the charge was going to be. I brought the truck back 2 hours earlier and i put more gas in the tank than what I was given at the start of the day..... but she still insisted on charging another $7:00 for the use of the truck. You guys have to improve customer service. I also think you're playing around the gas gauge. I put in $18.00 worth of gas (i know prices are high....$4.28) but i only used the truck for 17 miles. I walked out of your place not really trusting UHaul.... sorry to say.THOMAS H.

More training is needed. 3 people behind the counter dealing with rentals, I reserved online for a 15' box truck one way. Was then told that the truck they had reserved for me would have to be returned to that location. I refused as it makes no sense to incite additional charges and fuel expenses. Then I was told they would have to delete that reservation and start over, I agreed. When I was asked what size box truck I need I replied with 15', the lady although nice obviously very undertrained drew up the rental agreement. Come to find out the truck they gave me the other 2 people working on agreements also set up current reservations, therefore upsetting the customer next to me that already had the key to said vehicle. I proceeded to the truck to find out it is only a 10' and will not work for me. I went back in to correct the misunderstanding to wait 20 minutes to be helped again. They did correct the issue with yet another rental agreement which added another charge to my card. They had to find a key to the truck which was most certainly not cleaned prior. It was not a complete mess but did have debris on the floor and was not wiped down. Along with empty boxes behind the passenger seat. The delay in processing the correct truck for the correct time caused me to be approx 13 minutes late to return by the agreed upon 5pm timeline. Also when explaining where I had to go and the issues with road closures and detours to get to said destination they set me up for 51 miles. I am over the allowed mileage due to the lack of understanding that there were 2 detours that add mileage to the trip.David S.

This location was fairly disorganized. My reservation was incorrect when I arrived. The truck had less gas in it than it should have, and I was almost charged extra, until I proved that I had only driven minimal distances and put more gas in than I had used. I wasn't given the correct code to unlock the back of the truck. I called 25 minutes before closing, and was sent to a customer service hotline. It took quite a while to get the password; more than 30 minutes. All the staff were polite, but the inconveniences outweighed that.Thomas M.

These reviews are only for the location, the location was never the problem. The UHAUL experience itself is quite terrible, but the Alsip location is fine. Lets start with the app, it has tons of bugs. Sometimes it feels like the developers didn't actually test the app or they didn't test it with different phones. I understand there must be hundreds if not thousands of people using this app so I'd be very surprised if its only me. Each time I had to go to the website because the app version didn't correctly support photos or uploads. Next we can talk about the rental experience, specifically securing a truck. We needed an extension on our truck so that we don't have to move twice but come to find out the truck we had was already rented by another family in advance, that doesn't allow any time for problems that may arise or option to extend. Alsip also has sooo many trucks that it didn't seem truthful that someone already rented ours. We still returned it all on time anyway. Then we had to move again a week later. We secured a truck in Midlothian and it was said to be "GUARENTEED" yet when I got there they had no idea what I was talking about and had no 26' trucks on the lot at all. After 20 minutes of them trying to figure stuff out it ended up that someone just didn't return their truck. I had to cancel my rental and go down the street to Alsip to pick one up (I do believe I'm supposed to receive $50 for that, says the app anyway). Finally, the self return process was a little better as I knew not to even touch the app version and to just use the web version since it actually works more often.Derrick M.

Diana was wonderful in assisting me in accessing the building, finding my unit and explaining everything. The out of state movers we used were very impressed with the availability of moving carts that made the move of our items seamless. Only problem faced was of my doing. I originally thought my belongings would all fit into a 5x5 unit which I had secured the later part of April. Early morning on the day of the move I thought again about the space and rented another 5x5 unit. Good thing I did as I did require more space. If I had been a little bit more realistic about the space I could have just rented a 5x10 unit. But as I said that was my problem and had nothing to do with Uhaul.Ann W. | Online Move In
Diana was very helpful, personable and friendly as she personally walked me through the storage unit and instructed me on how to gain access to the building and most importantly how to find my storage units. I had originally just rented one unit (5x5) and then the day of furniture delivery rethought the space and decided to rent another unit (5x5). Renting the second unit online was seamless and I was lucky to get the second unit on the same floor and area as the first. The provided moving carts made unloading the moving truck for the movers easy and efficient. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for storage needs. I was recently promoted by the company I work for. Moving up to a new position can be overwhelming. I needed a place where I could park my work truck and plug it in over night, receive orders (packages delivered by UPS) and store everything that I need to store safely and conveniently in temperature controlled environment. The staff here at U-Haul Alsip made me feel welcome. They were friendly and more then accommodating. The whole facility, (from the main building, storage lockers, office and parking lot) ,is well maintained and clean. Facility is well maintained and staff were professional. I was disappointed by two surprises-1) taxes were nearly 20% and 2) free first month storage promotion does not apply to vehicle/RV storage. I would understand these if I knew upfront when making the reservation online. However, neither of those items were communicated, and in fact, in my confirmation email, my first month balance due was $0 and my rent payment was 20% less than what I’m having to pay.
