It's a scam when they tell you they will check you back in if you paid with a credit card. If you fill the gas tank back they still charge you at least for a gallon of gas. Miles are quoted by them yet they charge me 30+ additional miles. My charges was $25+ different.OPHELIA B.

You need to have at least three people on especially at the end of the month and the beginning of the month. It is hard for two people to try to do everything as far as I could see. I was up there three different times and three different times there was at least four or five people in front of me waiting and I was there at least 30 minutes.alvin D.

I think you guys are a scam or should train employees better on your products & services. I rented a truck and had it a few days extra. Which was fine but to be told your insurance is 30 and then be told it's 30 a day is non sense. I was never told or shown on my paperwork the fine print because I would of declined paying a good chunk of your premium. I will never go back recommend or rent from u haul again. Mobile pickup option was not smooth and not really feasible without assistance. 1) as to the app, having done the advance part, there were unexpected requests (alternate contacts etc.) at pickup; 2) no way to find the truck on site based on its number without assistance given size of the lot; 3) truck didn't have any of the accessories (trolley, hand truck, pads) that had been reserved; 4) front desk person at time of pickup (10:30) was rude; yes she had other customers, but the whole point of mobile pickup with reserved time (and clock running on rental) was not to have to wait; 5) as a result got the wrong (too small) dolly and the wrong hand truck as grabbed the only ones visible given lack of assistance and no furniture pads, resulting in glass breaking on painting; 6) even after finding truck and being instructed by app to go inside and jump line and request key front desk woman was rude and said to wait while she helped her two other customers; 7) upon entering truck it was blocked by repair people doing a windshield on another vehicle 8) couldn't do mobile drop off because i would have been charged for the loss of the furniture pads i had reserved but did not receiveStephen P.

Trailer came off hitch shortly after pulling out of location. Quickly attached back on and notified uhaul via phone due to being crowded from Rays game being let out. When I dropped off next day 1 employee available to help 10 customers. I told him about what happened he just said he would handle and then moved on. I use uhaul multiple times a year so was surprised at this poor experience beginning to end specifically this location.David C.

The trailer had a blowout. I was delayed getting to my destination in time to drop the car off at a location that was only there for a limited time Saturday.....then not again until Wednesday the 25th. I was told I wouldn't be charged for the extra day. I found a repair place when the tire and rim blew out and got approval from uhaul to pay the vendor directly and then submit my receipt to the drop-off location to receive a reimbursement for my expense. The very rude gentleman at uhaul in St. Pete not only made me wait until he moved all his trailers around in the lot....after all that time waiting he then tells me that's a corporate thing....we don't do that here!!! I then called your customer service and waited on hold for 45 mins until I was disconnected by the person that came on the line. This was the worst customer service I've ever seen.Daniel H.

The facility itself was secure. However, I reached out to customer service and got the main number as the facility ALWAYS transferred its phones to the main number. You can never reach the facility itself. The main uhaul could not answer my question and assured me that the manager of Tropicana field would return my call. He/she never did. I was supposed to get a free month of storage as I had rented a truck within the last 12 months. (Mine was actually within the last 6 weeks). The customer service reps at the main number checked my qualifications and assured me that I did qualify. The they charged me at the facility and when it was questioned, they said that since I didn't rent the truck 'from a certain distance', I didn't qualify for a free month. I'm Scratching my head over that loophole. Not even quite sure what it means. The facility itself was fine. I made the reservation through uhaul central since you can never reach the facility itself. On the move-in day, the facility told me that they gave my storage unit to someone else (we were there at 9 am), but, they were able to come up with another for us. Staff more than 1 person. Jack was friendly but couldn't keep up with the pickups because he was alone. It took over an hour to get a prepaid/ordered trailer.. the lights on the trailer didn't work so we got upsized witch actually worked out better than planned. Send Jack some help!!Brian C.

I arrived at Uhaul at 8:15am. There was only 1 employee working. He was very slow. There were 3 people in front of me. By the time I got up to the counter it was after 10:35a.m. The Uhaul employee had a nasty attitude and was unprofessional. He was very condescending with myself and the black woman who was before me in line. However, his demeanor was totally different with the two other guys/customers that were in front of the line. I had to be to work at 12 noon but due to waiting 2 hours to get and having to store my items storage I waisted an entire day and had to miss work. I also reserved a storage unit and it was too small for my things! I had to get another storage elsewhere. This was the absolute worst experience I ever had. I would never recommend. I should be accommodated for inconvenience and lack of professionalism. This experience was horrible. // Later that morning a woman (Uhaul employee) arrived around 11am-11:30am. Her attitude was totally different from the man earlier that morning. She was very professional. When we went to pick up our truck that was booked they could not find the keys. I understand that mistakes happen but Jack's attitude with the situation was almost like we shouldn't be surprised or upset that the vehicle that we booked wasn't available. I don't feel like he searched very hard for the keys and I felt like he expected us to be like oh well and walk away which we couldn't do because we needed the truck that day. He apologized several times to the people in line behind us that WE were slowing things down but he never once apologized to us for the inconvenience. We had to insist that he find us another vehicle because he wasn't making an attempt to find a solution for us. Once again, I totally understand that mistakes happen and that this was not Jacks fault, but he did not improve the situation with his attitude towards us. I know he was flustered but he could have at least apologized for the inconvenience.TEGAN C.

The did not have the furniture dolly I rented in advance and there was no notice given in advance of the pick up, or I would have purchased one. Also computer glitches slowed down the check out process. Lastly the truck was not water tight and some of the contents got wet. Rented two dollies and a truck. The dollies weren't in the truck. I didn't notice because I saw them moving dollies so I didn't think to check. Called to see if someone could drop off dollies to where we were, down the street at self storage. Not able to leave to pick up dollies, I was on a time constraint and not willing to waste mileage or gas going back and forth. I called a spoke to Katherine, I was on hold for over a hour, Katherine told me â€œlet me get you over to customer service, we have to get a authorization from the region or district office for the dollies to be dropped offâ€. I was on hold for over a hour, waiting. No one ever picked up that transfer. Called back, spoke to Margaret she informed me that that's not a real thing or she has never heard of it and basically said, I'm out of luck. Super fun! Great place to store things! It's the moving out that's a pain. So many homeless folks come up and ask to help you, so I felt uncomfortable leaving my truck unattended to load up more for fear of my things being stolen. The elevator was also miserable to use if anyone else is moving at the same time. Anyone above you will come down with a full load and I waited 5 minutes for two rounds of people to unload the elevator. When it's 80 degrees in that breezeway 5 minutes feels like forever. If you have a question and call the store you will be on hold for at least 30 - 45 minutes. I had an old and valuable antique oriental rug in storage. I recently moved into a larger dwelling and when I unrolled the rug there were larvae all over and a great deal of the rug was damaged, possibly destroyed. This was a family heirloom that apart from monetary value, had great sentimental value to me. I'm heartbroken this beautiful reminder of the home I grew up in and 3 subsequent homes of my own is so damaged. There was a reservation error. The centralized reservation system gave me lockers that didn't exist at this location . I had a lot of stuff. The Tropicana staff worked fabulously with me during a very stressful time and gave me everything they had for space. The manager, James Beck, made things very reasonable in terms of cost adjustment. After being a loyal customer for nearly two years they decided to increase my rate, even though they still advertise and offer the same rate to people who are currently signing up. So they basically try to squeeze more money out of customers who have been there a long time, but continue to offer the same size unit to new customers for the price I had paid all along. I guess they are banking on customers being too lazy to move out. I called and left a message asking to discuss the issue with management and he never even took the time to return my call. Apparently U-haul is more interested in short-term profit than brand/customer loyalty. I found a very nice, brand new storage unit nearly twice the size (10x15) less than a mile away for basically the same price I had been paying U-haul. I may have no choice but to use the services of u-haul at some point in the future depending on where I am, but I can certainly tell you that it will never again be my first choice. I will shop around and likely pay more for a competitor's services if they are available before I ever resort to using U-haul again because I don't want to support a business whose business model is designed to "reward" customer loyalty with predatory practices.joshua m. | Overall Experience
