The customer service sucked. They were late arriving but they did give me 20% off. They accused me of not putting the gas where it was but I did. And they said that it was 11058 mileage when I picked it up but it was 11059 cause I uploaded I picture to y'all so there was a mile difference there. I feel like they were calling me a liar which I am NOT. She said I have no proof. I said I uploaded it to uhaul's link. So I did not take another picture to save it to my phone. I was very displeased with the service yesterday. Thanks Amber Kirkpatrick

UHaul customer service (800 number) was impossible to reach when we had a slow air leak in one of the auto-transport tires out of business hours. We resolved the issue ourselves by adding air as needed. I wouldn't trust UHaul if there was serious equipment failure on-route.

todd C.The original service was fine at pickup. I returned the itrailer the night before and was in a emergency the next morning. It was supposed to be checked in by 11 a.m. and I forgot to call them that morning to tell them it was there. They apparently had it rented out for that day. Instead of walking out to see if the trailer was there they called me and left several rude messages. They were awful as any messages I have received in a long time. I am a business owner in Champaign and am really unhappy with the way I was treated. Again awful rude messages. Whoever that was needs to work on their customer service.

Candace F.2010 philo road is the worst uhaul site i know so far, the people who work there with the exception of one young lady who assisted me when I was returning the rental truck. The first lady I dealt with when picking up the rental truck actually has blackballed my name in their local system for a misunderstanding that I apologized for to her while at the uhaul store she still blacklisted my name for future business dealings with renting storages, trucks, and equipment. Even now I'm still treated rude or giving the worst equipment once they recognize my last name, customer service doesn't exist.
DANNY H.We had no issues getting the truck. While we were in the store picking up our truck, one of the associates was loudly bashing a customer. Going on and on yelling about their return, how they were charging them extra, etc. It was super unprofessional. It was alarming to me that they kept going with it while there were other customers in the store. I understand having a bad day and maybe that customer was causing some stress for her but you should remain professional while at work.

Natasha S.The information regarding the reservation and actual online move in is very confusing and could cause someone to miss a reservation. The information from the employees at the actual facility in does not line up with what customer service is saying. The Philo street employees are extremely rude and impatient. I'm going to send an email to corporate about this facility because I had the same problem last year. The customer service department was great. Luckily I was able to get a unit and move in but I felt like l had to do this almost a month early because of the confusing information coupled with the rude employees. I'm glad this is the last summer I have to use this place. I will share my very negative experience on social media. They really suck at that location but the facility itself is very nice.

Received aggressive phone call because I was 45 minutes behind, was told that they can cancel my reserved truck after 15 minutes!?!? Did I miss this in the app or was this just a location thing? This was my only issue, the rest of the experience was good.

Jacqueline A. | First ImpressionsThis location is always a pleasure to deal with. The General Manager runs a tight ship, and the entire staff is always friendly. One area of improvement would be a climate-controlled wash bay with a small crew or contractor on the property so each unit being returned to this major hub could be cleaned both interior and exterior. A clean vehicle is a safe vehicle! This would not apply to all locations, but since this is a major hub in Urbana, it would be nice if the units could be checked-in and cleaned when returning units. As it stands now, during winter months, no one could ever expect the staff to go "above and beyond" when it is cold outside.

It would be great if U-Haul (Corporate) would provide this location with a better computer system (which always seems to crash during my every visit) allowing the staff to better serve its customers. I do not know how they do it, but the staff always seems to remain calm when the system goes down, even when customers are anxiously waiting to check in or out. With this being such an excellent location, (facilities and staff) it would be great to see corporate provide them with better tools before this summer's rush on the moving season.

Antonio B.I ordered a furniture dolly and 6 pads to help with the move, which were not supplied in the cargo van. Apparently I was to pick them up myself(?), merely one of many facts the woman at the window failed to tell me. When I discovered this, I called and informed them, and was told the cost would be refunded. Then, when I turned in the vehicle I mentioned it again, and the man who was there in place of the woman said he'd address it. He did not. My receipt came, and there they were, dolly and pads, charged to my account. It isn't the amount of money that they cost that upsets me, as its relatively small. Rather, its the blatant ignoring of repeated contact regarding the mix-up, the failure to make good on assurances made and the absolute inability to give proper instruction to the customer in the first place. If this is the kind of customer manipulation one can expect from this location, I will take my business elsewhere.

Aisha and the team were friendly, responsive, and prompt, even though they always appeared to be extremely busy. The storage facility was clean, well lit and well maintained. They have a selection of carts to help with move-in & move-out. I would definitely recommend this facility to others, as it is a great space at a very good value. Thank you to everyone at Southgate!

I chose average vs. above average or excellent because the website does not let you know when a storage space is not available anymore. You can make a reservation but it's not guaranteed because multiple people can reserve the same unit and you won't be notified that you don't really have a space until the day you go to secure it, which is the day you need it to be told, that day, that it's not available. This should be corrected on the website ASAP! Otherwise I had a very good experience because things were explained to me. All I can say is don't blame the folks at the local uhaul because it has to be fixed by the people upstairs.

When I actually got there, I was told that the smaller unit was all taken. The only the larger one is available and the manager offered me a discount. If I only leased it during the summer, that would have been fine. But because of Covid, the unit was leased for 15 months more than the anticipated. My suggestion to you is not to lease the unit when you don't have the unit. If you did, you should be able to honor it as the smaller unit price.

Therefore, in spite of how clean, safe, and accessible the unit was, I am still frustrated that I ended up having to pay a late fee for my storage unit. When I did the initial paperwork in the office, I understood that I was signing up for automatic payments. I also never received a bill by email or postal mail in advance of my monthly payment date. It was incredibly frustrating to find out that I'd incurred a penalty fee after the fact. Whether or not the misunderstanding about autopay was strictly my fault, it is poor customer service not to send a notice in advance of a monthly charge. All other companies provide this courtesy. I feel that I was taken advantage of by UHaul, and will not be recommending UHaul storage to friends and family.

My only disappointment was with the intake staff person who conveyed some impatience or unhappiness, spoke too quickly and seemed to resent my need for clarification and instructions, avoided eye contact, walked ahead of me to the check-in area, and gave the check-in key card and lock to my friend, rather than to me. This dampened my enthusiasm, but I was otherwise glad to find this unit nearby (and without a fee for the first month because I had driven a U-Haul Cargo Van to Urbana from Galesburg, Illinois, as part of my relocation plan.

I understand the rat traps as a precautionary measure but I was very worried about the dead roaches. I asked an employee to sweep them out and he did! However, I am still very uneasy about leaving my belongings there in the event that more bugs are there. Additionally, my access code for the building only worked if I did it 2-3 times which was quite frustrating.

The homie who was working there checked it for me and gave a call back promptly. Surprised to find service like that anywhere. Big ups to that staff. Also, though I had to pay more, the staff helped me change my unit to another one since the one I was given smelled like urine. Two of the staff (one was Asian and the other Hispanic, I forgot their names) made the whole thing a good experience

My access code to arm/disarm the alarm never worked and the alarm sounded every time I opened my unit. Service was slow and communication with uhaul reps vague. I wasn't able to move into my unit on the day scheduled because a uhaul rep failed to book my moving truck for the correct time, and when I had to pick up the truck at 6 they didn't inform me that offices closed at 7. I was frustrated and disappointed with the lack of basic communication.

I arrived at Southgate and the older male behind the counter offered to assist after the store manager had to call him to return to the front counter while she assisted other customers. I requested a 5x5 but was told they were sold out and the only other option was a 10x10, which was double the price. I told him that I only needed to store a few items from my daughter's dorm room that were in my small SUV just until August 22nd. The store manager told him that he could give me one of the 5x10 units that was reserved but he ignored her. I asked if I can wait for the store manager to handle but he insisted that she would tell me the same so I proceeded to reserve the 10x10 for nearly $400 and no free lock if I reserved it online. I asked if they could accept $299 since they had a bunch of 10x10 units open and no smaller ones but he said we don't barter. I told him to cancel the transaction so I could proceed to reserve it online only to find that I could reserve the 5x10 unit and pay for it plus receive the free lock. The male then huffed and asked if I was asking him to cancel the transaction that he just entered for the past 15 mins as if I didn't lose 15 mins of my time and he wasn't still getting paid to talk about his life in San Diego. I said yes! Then the store manager turned to him and politely said "that's what I said you could do for her earlier". Needless to say, this would be a poor rating of it weren't for the store manager and I would highly suggest you place reservations and pay for them online in order to avoid being up sold and overspending
