I reserved a cargo van online a few days before I needed it. No credit card needed. It was an easy process and when I went in to pick up the vehicle it was a quick process. And drop off was even easier. This is exactly what I expect for a simple rental.David F.

Have some sort of discount set up for charities that come to rent for their event. If the company allocated some rentals at no charge this would be great publicity for the company and a way for them to become involved in charitable causes as other large corporations/companies are now doing. (I was glad to be given a discount on mileage). I have used uhaul for the past several years for charitable events which I pay for out of pocket. As long as the proper paperwork is submitted I believe that this might be something to look into).barry B.

The Toms River, NJ UHaul dealer should not be in business. They gave me a vehicle which they knew had mechanical issues (it said MECH right on the key!). In hindsight I should have demanded a different vehicle before ever leaving the lot. I asked them to come out to the vehicle before I left and they refused; telling me to refer to a text with pick-up information. They were extremely condescending and rude. No more than 15 minutes after leaving the lot, the truck stalled in Drive while turning in an intersection and the steering locked. I had to put the vehicle in Park, turn it off, and start it again in order to get it to run. This happened two more times. It created an extremely hazardous/life threatening situation for me. When I immediately called them to report what was happening and ask that they bring me a different truck, their response was, "that's not our policy now that you left the lot, call roadside assistance". They took no responsibility for the situation. I had to wait two hours for roadside assistance to coordinate between sending a vehicle to diagnose the situation and then deciding the truck was not mechanically safe to drive. So they sent a tow, and I had to get picked up by a friend. Roadside assistance then had to locate a replacement vehicle for me, over a hour away in another direction. I lost a full day of my time, and because of all the issues, lost the help that was supposed to drive the 1,000 mile trip. Roadside assistance was great, but the Toms River, NJ UHaul dealer on Route 37 should have their business license pulled.Irene R.

All Vehicles should have a full tank of fuel before driving off the lot. My rental began with just a little less then 3/4 of the tank. Makes it a bit difficult for anybody to estimate from there for the return process. I drove my rental truck 9 miles. And put 2.5 gallons of fuel into the truck, which was probably more per miles than I had driven it. Having a Full tank to begin with, would make the whole process easier and have piece of mind beginning your rental beginning. It is emphasized how much fuel you have begining your agreement, and that same amount needs to be returned or you pay a penalty. I overpaid/put to much fuel to have the fuel gauge read 3/4 of a tank, which when the truck was returned, had just a bit over 3/4 of the tank. Thank You.Lawrence S.

I do not agree with your company policy of harassing a customer for three phone numbers and various addresses your policies intrusive to people's rights ,being a long time customer this probably will be the last time I would ever use your services because you require information that is not a company responsibility. To have employees afraid to they could lose their job because the customer refuses to give information that is not necessary. A valid driver's license a valid phone number and a valid credit card should be more than adequate to rent a space. Everyone was always friendly and helpful at this location, and based on the misinformation from corporate UHaul that falls on them to manage, they all need a raise. As for the storage, a small, dark, short cement box with cut pipes in the center of the floor is not a storage unit. It's a chunk of otherwise unused space that you are ripping people off to use. When I initially rented this unit I was told it would be 85 a month. After we loaded the unit when I went to pay I was charged 115 a month. The girl at the desk said there was nothing she could do about it. I emailed your corporate headquarters and received no response. This is bad customer service. And then with the COVID situation most companies reached out to see if people needed any assistance with paying their bills but not uhaul. In fact your company raised the rates by 5 dollars a month. The check in process is a disgrace. Absolutely zero customer service. The phone check in kept prompting me for a payment method, when my locker was free. Could not get past this part. Called customer service twice. Finally they got in touch with a person at the facility. I got into an argument with her over the check in process. She also told me that masks must now be worn. I didn't have on. I came here from south carolina, where they are optional. It should be the responsibility of uhaul to contact ots customers and make them aware of policy changes, especially with all that's going on now. She insisted that this is my responsibility, not theirs. Other companies provide updates as your "move in" date gets closer. When she finally called me and checked me in, I told her that I would tie a shirt over my face. Her response was, do t worry about it, we have masks and I'll give you one. Seriously! This whole conflict could have been avoided from the start if shs just simply explained what the new procedure was and said, we have masks, so dont worry about anything. Instead, she opted to exurt her authority to make a point. Bottom line, your checkin process is terrible and needs to be streamlined. I highly doubt that I will use uhaul again for anything.
