The system was down for hours and then the guy (albeit nice overall) messed up several times and ended up charging me double. It took a few hours to pick up the truck. I have always rented Penske and this was my first time giving UHaul a shot and it was terrible. Also, I booked a 10' truck and they gave me an "upgrade" to a larger truck AKA made me pay way more in fuel. Not okay.

The truck I was given had lights that were not working. When I got home my wife told me they did not work. I had to go back and get another truck from the location. It was dirty! I also got it later than I requested, so when I returned the truck late I was charged another day plus another day of insurance. That is just wrong.

The equipment was fine and the personnel were fine but the mileage and fuel level were both incorrectly stated on the contract.

Location. Had to walk across street to pick up van. It was on less than a quarter of a tank, so had to fill up right away. To improve: vehicle should have been next to building since know pick up time. Should change policy that vehicles have to be full when drop off.

The only issues that I had were with the website and the Dayton office. The office on National Rd did a great job helping me.

I reserved a pick up truck but changed my mind and reserved a cargo van because it said I could use it from five to nine p.m.. I come to pick it up around four thirty well there was a line of people dropping there trucks off because they close at five . I wait in line for twenty minutes and finally get up to purchase my reservation to be told they don't have it they don't even have at there lot anymore and that he can not help me because they are closing and the trucks in bay need the mileage checked still as they are locking up to leave . I told the man my situation I had a day and a half to move and be gone by nine a.m. he tells me well just come back at 9 a.m. . in a very rude voice . and then they all go ahead and drive off as I still sit there, so I call the one eight hundred number and this very sweet lady calms me down and helps me with a fifty dollar guarantee so if the truck wasn't ready I get fifty dollars (which of course this place here was going to make sure it was ready after they saw that). And she tells me that they open at 7 a.m. so now I was really mad cause that MAN at the building said come at 9 a.m. the time I had to moving . so he was clearly being rude to me and I am a woman with kids . I felt as if he could of checked the mileage on a truck based off there in discretion. So I come at seven one minute after go to purchase and some odd reason its two dollars over what it said it would cost . how. So I said can I get a two dollar discount so I don't have to drive to the bank and obviously I'm not getting the guarantee. This guy says I can't cause I don't know what happened yesterday. Wow. So I drive and get the money . and bring it back get my truck . it was the most horrible I mean horrible customer service i have ever dealt with . my fiance works at a hotel and i am a CNA we deal with customer service and families everyday. They do not care at the place in Richmond Indiana they just want to go home

I have dealt with a few different Uhaul companies and I have to say that the Richmond, Indiana location definitely made sure to accommodate my needs. My mother passed away last weekend and I went in on Thursday to reserve a Uhaul and get a storage unit and they made it very simple and fast.

The day I arrived to reserve a U-Haul, three employees were in the back and did not acknowledge me for about 10 minutes. I had to go to the doorway to the back to get their attention. When they were back there I could hear them cursing and talking personal. Then my reservation was supposed to be for pick up at 1 PM and I got a confirmation it was for pick up at 4 PM so I had to call to get that changed. No problem with the truck itself but when I arrived in Chicago the following day around 11 AM I received a call from a location about three blocks from where I was moving and the gentleman told me I had until 1 o’clock to return the U-Haul. He wanted me to return it to that particular location because he had a family moving from Chicago to New York and he needed the truck. I had not designate a particular drop off location at that time. The experience overall was not the best

Employee tries to charge us for 66miles...we was only gone for 30min and the tank wasn't filed to 3/4 at pickup...

It would be good to start the rental with a full tank and return it that way. We started with a 5/8 tank and it is impossible to gauge how much to fill it to return it at that level. As a result we overfilled, and so we overpaid.

The customer service representative was superb in all ways possible..in the process soothing sore nerves as he treated each customer with TLC, despite closing time seconds away. He stayed opened until the last person was served. Very impressive indeed.

Update your computer on a corporate level so it doesn't freeze up during sales. What I WANTED to rent was all rented out. I Settled for smaller and managed. Add more rentals to this location since it's booked solid. The employees were top notch. It's not their fault the place was packed and everything was rented out. They get an A+.

Customer service needs to be directly in touch with the locations that they are reserving equipment at. When I was told that my trip details could be addressed as I picked up my rental, I did not expect that to mean that they were non-negotiable. The Richmond, Indiana location rents primarily local trucks. Perhaps if I knew this, I wouldn’t have had to add an extra 70 miles and three hours of my time to my moving expenses. I also would not have had to pay for the extra gas had the truck that I was supposed to be able to drop off in Indianapolis, had been properly reserved. This is not the locations fault, they had great customer service and were very professional. The fault lies with operators who are simply reiterating what they see on their screen from who knows where, not knowing ACTUAL stock and details.
