It was really annoying how little gas was in the tank, and appeared that the fuel gauge changed dramatically once I actually started driving the vehicle. I filled the tank because i was worried it would run out on my way from blacksburg to roanoke. I filled the tank, which ended up being nearly $120.00, and got no word of it in the receipt or anything. I feel cheated as i had to fill the tank after driving just 30 miles because it was dropping so quickly.Matthew V.

Though the location for pickup really doesn't concern me, the inside of the trailer had some nasty, sticky substance on the floor that should have been cleaned for the next rental. Some lights on the trailer, namely yellow running/marker lights, didn't work. That's not safe for pulling a trailer at night that's wider than the tow vehicle on narrow roads or highways with narrow lanes and oncoming traffic. Clean the trailers out if the customer doesn't. Check them at pickup to make sure a new customer doesn't have to deal with a previous customer's mess.Sam D.

The employees really need to work on how the interact and speak to the customers. They can be very rude and unprofessional. Specially to repeat customers that bring in money time after time again. It makes no sense you have to deal with bad behavior after moving and heavy lifting. The experience should be easy and pain free picking up and returning the uhaul. This is the only location that gives so many problems and what seems to be made-up rules.YVONNE J.

I was given a bit of misinformation about returning the truck but most everything else was fineErnestine C.
Location was great. The issue was with the 800 service. Called me the morning of my pickup and told me the location did not have the truck so had to drive 15 minutes out of my way. Then they told me the new location had the blankets I ordered and they did not. She even put me on hold and said she called them to verify. Second time this has happened. Do not trust the 800 line people!Michael C.
Wanted it to be nice simple service. Employee was unprofessional and something is not quite right. That van did not get dirty by me. I drove on Main Street and a very nice neighborhood road. And I was charged for cleaning. It was not dirty. Two other people looked at the van inside and out as well. Never never. Will always tell others to never use melrose location of Uhaul or any Uhaul serviceJeannie H.
I made the reservation online and when I got to the store the rental package was completely different than on the website. A nice young man helped me and explained why it was that way. He was very efficient and cordial but did tell me since I was paying $99 per day instead of the $19.99 per day that if I did not bring it back by closing the following day I would NOT be charged a second day $99 rental fee. I was charged the second day fee and when I called to complain the man at that store was filling in from another store and just said he would let management know. I want a refund of $99 because that's what I was told I would pay upfront. Also at the time I returned the vehicle your app was not working and neither was your one 800 number.JOHN N.

Service person/employee was very rude on this day when I called the store(4-25-2022).. Lots of customers there in the store on (4-24-2022) this is the day I returned the truck.. Several trucks came in. We stood around an hour or more before our truck was checked in. We got there on time. It was almost 10:00AM before we were checked in. I called the store (4-25-2022) when I got another bill for $59.40 and the same rude man/employee answered the phone. I explained the situation and he said he could do nothing about it for me to call the 800 number. He said we were late getting there. I said you were late checking us in because you were dealing with other customers.I asked to speak to the boss/store manager and was told that he was not there and did not know when the store manager would be in as he only opens the store. The store manger who checked us in Sat.(4-23-2022) said that he would modify the time we were to return to a later time. However, we got the truck back at the time it was to be in on (4-24-2022) We had to spend time just trying to find a place to park the truck on the lot. The lot was full of people returning trucks and trucks sitting to be checked in. This employee was going from truck to truck. It was this worker/employee that was backed up and made it seem as though we were late. He was so rude. I am having a hard time even trying to get customer service on the 800# number. when I did get customer service the lady was nice and helpful. She tried calling the u-haul store twice but got no answer. She said she left a message and a dispute/complaint.I was told by the lady on the 800# that I would be notified by the store manager in 3 days in email and by phone about this complaint and she apologized about the rude employee. Today is April 25, 2022 This has been very disappointing and upsetting. Rude employee blaming us for being late when he checked us in an hour late because he was busy with other customers. I do wonder how many people have been treated and done this way by this u-haul store??? Very poor customer service at this store as to how they treated me.Brenda H.

Everything was great. I don't recall the name of the person who helped my get my truck but he was super friendly, helpful, easy to get along with and professional. I can appreciate that the UHaul was brought up to this location to be picked up from Lynchburg, VA. However, there was significant damage to the driver's side mirror. Also, there was damage to the axel, so in order to drive straight - the wheel had to be held 45 degrees to the right. Also, I picked the truck up which only had a 1/4 of a tank left. If I dropped of the truck with anything over that amount, it was mentioned I would be credited gas $ back. That did not occur at return.Emily M.

The check-in and check-out of the truck was very efficient and both people were courteous and helpful. The only issue I had was that the truck was not in the best working shape. It was clean inside and in the back; however, the truck ran rough and my friend tried to tell the check-out person about it and he seemed to ignore that.Brancen G.

Fast and efficient service, both initial hook up of trailer and then unhooking when I returned the trailer. All good. This U-Haul store does not carry the "no rattle" trailer tow accessories that are available, too bad.David S.
The self checking was a but frustrating. I had to enter the same information after I had previously uploaded my license. The U-Haul representative at this location was pretty rude and unhelpful. I was moved to a difference sized vehicle which was way too big and much more cumbersome to drive long distance. He was unsympathetic and unhelpful. I asked if I could get any complimentary rope or tie down equipment since my belongings would be sliding around in the larger vehicle and he laughed while saying no. The truck was filthy on the inside, and in poor driving condition. I paid for a utility dolly and the representative didn't give it to me. Two days prior to my reservation, U-haul texted me asking if I would tow a trailer to Atlanta on their behalf for a $25 discount (as if that would even cover the insurance in an accident). They didn't seem to understand when I kept saying no. In case they aren't aware, I don't work for U-haul. I wouldn't recommend this uhaul location or using u-hauls at all.Jaime M.

When I returned the truck And ask for my deposit back I was told That they didn't work with cash and I would have to call customer service after 2 hours of being on hold Then I was told they could mail me a check and I would get it In 3 to 5 weeks which I refused.. So I had to call the Beckley manager And he had to call the manager at Melrose And finally this morning I got my $100 cash back When I return the equipment. Very very disappointed and this is my 2nd bad experience with u -haul. As I was waiting on hold all that time it kept saying we'd accept checks cash or debit Credit cards. Then I found out after dropping a 100 miles to get there they wouldn't take my check. I will never do business with you guys againCAMERONWAYNE R.

Pick-up U-Haul assistance was incredible. I believe his name was Chris (Melrose location, Sunday, 1/23 around 2PM). He helped me change the reservation to fit our needs after booking online. He went above and beyond by cranking the car so it was ready and warm in this icy, cold weather. My car was safe overnight. My drop off process was quick and smooth so I could get right to work.
