I paid for access to a storage building and was given a key card, which I assumed gave me entrance to the gate. It was not until 5:30pm (after hours), that I found out the key card was useless without the gate access code! I learned this on the date I planned to head out of town and needed to store items before leaving or it could impede my ability to travel (I am military and just moved to town and was temporarily living in a hotel, until I found a house. I had to rent another storage building online to store my things, so I could head out of town (complete waste of money). Of course I called every after hours number in an attempt to gain access to my storage building, but had no luck. I even email the manager and have yet to get a response (3 weeks after). They put me in the wrong size unit and over charged me for months, I used the online Chatman tool and they couldn't help me resolve the billing issue and there was no direct line to call the storage location, just the customer service location and the wait time was never less than 38 minutes. Staff were nice and friendly when they were there. 2 occasions where the staff just wasn't at the office, due to emergency situations from what I was told by another location. This made it difficult to get information on my unit if needed or even use of the restroom. I arrived at the Macdill location only to be turned away at 8am which was my reservation time. A woman sent me to the Gandy location where I waited in line for 30 minutes just to be sent back to the Macdill location. I arrived and finally checked out in person after 9am even though I had ride sharing set up for 8am. Very displeased with this, and will not be using Uhaul or recommending them to anyone.ALBERT P.

This was a 5-star storage until Mrs. Stephanie left. The staff that still physically sit at this location are awesome. The new management is horrible. Since the turn over, my 24hr card only works at certain times while others the key pad says that the site is closed. I was paying for the 24hr access because I work nights and I'm not trying to jack up my sleep every time I need something. I head back out the door for another deployment in January and was trying to get some gear out and pack stuff I wouldn't need. I called the GM number listed on the storage keypad/sign and didn't get an answer. Left a message. I never received a call back so I called again the next afternoon with no answer, another voicemail.. Still no call back. *** I pulled all my stuff out of this place and moved it to a different place *** I called the new oversite uhaul on Gandy talked to someone there and told them I want his boss to call me and I was told a couple days. The reason I would NOT recommend this facility and the reason I gave your an overall rating of poor is this....we paid our rent each month from the 27th to the 27th of the next month. Our October rent was automatically debited from our account on Oct. 27th and we moved out on Oct. 31st (5 days later). We have been told that because rent had already been paid there would be no refund of the remainder of the month we paid for and didn't use. This is a scam and is very unfair. You have rent for a large portion of the month we aren't using and you will, no doubt, re-rent the unit for double rent!! Very bad practice. I will NOT recommend you to anyone else and will, in fact, make sure people know about this usurious practice!Tom G. | Overall Experience

The drop off location changed to during my rental. I had to call the line and ask to have it changed back and there was an extra $5 charge. Not sure what happened but I was able to drop off where I wanted.Beth S.

Allow me to add vehicle license plate to my SunPass account so I can pay the toll without having pay the fee through Uhaul. When I attempted to add the license plate it stated it was linked to another account and would not allow me to add the vehicle to my account.Ron B.

The employee that handled the transaction at the store was beyond incredibly rude, not to mention so unprofessional that I took a recordingRONALD H.
There was a plate that held the wiring harness in place that ha was supposed to have 4 rivets to hold in place. 3 WERE MISSING. As the UHAUL person in Tampa said, "this should have never gone out like this. There must have been a short in the wiring going through the tubular frame which cause the tail lights to go on and off while driving at night. I had to pull the vehicle off, wait till morning and have another person follow me to Tampa and then follow me to the dropoff per UHAUL reference number 1741802, since Uhaul would not pick up the defective dolly.. The person at the drop off in Tampa was extremely helpful, especially after seeing theRichard C.

The pickup location was changed. My reservation was for Uhaul on Gandy Blvd. When I got there, waited in line, was told my reservation was at different location. No one contacted me to tell me my pickup location had changed. This is unacceptable. I drove from out of town to pick up a truck at a location that I chose. I had no idea where the other uhaul rental place was located. SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED ME TO LET ME KNOW MY CHOSEN PICKUP LOCATION HAD CHANGED!!!Amy B.
Stephanie Herrera at this location was professional and courteous, the customer before me really gave her a unnecessary hassle and was rude, but by the time that customer left, the representative was still very composed and expedited my services since I was on a time crunch. Rep was new and wasn't trained up yet, but was extremely courteous and also apologized for his lack of knowledge. We all have to start somewhere and that is fine! This is the only reason a higher mark wasn't given since it took a LONG time to checkout with the vehicle. Checking in was not done online since my husband does not have a smart phone and I was not with him. In spite of that, all went well, and we are extremely satisfied with our experience.jill D.

Make sure the uhaul is in working condition and have enough staff members to fix the problem, the truck had a dead battery and I had to go and purchase the battery and help install it! Pickup was at 9 am and we did not leave until almost noon and had to reschedule my movers for a later time as they were supposed to be at my home at 10:30am. Just an all around mess.Audrey S.

I left the fuel tank WAY above what was required and you still charged me for 11 extra miles!! What a rip off. So now you have move gas and more money on miles even though YOU miscalculated the milage. I went from the uhaul to old house straight to new house then to uhaul facility. I was running behind and got a voicemail saying that they were going to give my reservation to someone else calling looking for one if I didn't call back within 15 minutes. However, the lady was very nice when I got there. As she was doing paperwork the lady who they were trying to give my reservation to showed up and her response to the other lady was â€œshe beat you to it.â€ It was very uncomfortable. When I got to the car the seat position handle was broken and being 5'2 I could not reach the pedal. I had to sit on the edge of the seat and was unable to wear a seatbelt. The lady working tried to fix it and could not so I took off as is hoping the movers waiting for me could fix it. They couldn't. I am five months pregnant and had to drive a uhaul truck with no seatbelt. When I returned and told the lady that I was unable to get it moved forward, her response was â€œwell the only thing I can do for you is give you a free storage unit.â€ I thought that was pretty ridiculous considering we had a conversation upon pickup stating that I was moving all of my stuff out of my storage unit and that I was happy to finally get everything out into my apartment. There was also a problem with the air conditioning and she had mentioned that previous renters had mentioned something about it not working as well. I would have given an Excellent rating, but they messed up. The main person running the place was very professional, nice, and did a great job. The person that processed my return was nice, but she didn't seem to care about the problem I'm reporting here. The day I picked up the truck, I called and asked what was the latest time I could return the truck that same day. The employee quickly said 'we close at 5'. I asked if there was an overnight return option, she sounded annoyed and said 'we close at 5'. So I got up early to return the truck the next day out of my way, and I see 24/7 return signs posted right by the drop off area. How did the employee not see or know that when she works there daily? She sounded annoyed on the phone, and I am annoyed that her ignorance or lack of interest in her job made me waste 2 MORE hours moving. I will go to the Gandy Uhaul store next time because of this.James E.
