I scheduled to pickup at a different location and was messaged to pickup at the Janaf location instead. I attempted to drop off at the scheduled drop off location and was told I would be charged extra to drop off even though I scheduled it as the drop off location. I had to drive the truck back to the Janaf location for drop off and pay for the extra mileage by going 20 miles out of my way. Can't trust Uhaul anymore, change you pickup and drop off without the customers approval or understanding.RAULSTON M.
There is a hole in the ceiling of the unit. But they didn't have another one that size. I was concerned that it could leak in the unit but the salesperson stated that it didn't leak inside.. so I took her word for it and prayed the rest of the ceiling doesn't fall inMyra W. | First Impressions

I am not upset about anything specifically at the facility. Employees were nice, units looked fine, hence the positive review. The only problem I had (which was a major problem that caused me to look for storage elsewhere) was that the uhaul website advertised this location as climate controlled, and it is not. Ordered a 6x12 with a utility dolly. Arrived and picked up my trailer at around 1000, the first employee I worked with was easy to work with and even helped me get the adapter for the wiring harness needed. I returned the trailer at 1700 the same day, and the employee standing outside that checked in my trailer, I guess didn't do it correctly. Long story short, I'm at work and get a call about returning the trailer I returned yesterday because they have another reservation that needs it. After I was able to respond, and talking to corporate giving them info on the trailer, JANAF finally answered the phone to which they attempted to locate the trailer and placed me on a brief 20 minute hold. Still at work, I finally gave up on waiting on JANAF and called corporate again to let them know my job pays me to work not find their lost trailer. The next day I get a call from Jessica an employee at JANAF who tells me the trailer was accidentally put out on someone else without checking it back in from me, but that I would only be charged for the day I had it (7 hours)â€¦ Long story short, I've never had a nice and easy encounter with UHaul, it's always something wrong and â€œmy problemâ€ until they fix their discrepancy. IE blown tire on trailer, I take to shop because they can't find wrecker. I return trailer, they lose it and bother me at workâ€¦ Insult over injury was I ordered the dolly and never received it, had to pick it up from the store after loading the trailer. Was given the option of using the furniture dolly since they forgot and figured sure, since I paid for the utility dolly, but no worries I got charged for that too. Lol figured since they forgot it least they could do was eat 3 bucksâ€¦ Budget, I'll just use budget or Penske. 15 moves, 14 through UHaul and 14 horror stories to accompany. I wasn't even able to use my card due to getting over charged on my card and the transaction would not go through. They said they weren't doing it but I still wound up having to pay cash and pay an extra hundred. My first reservation also wound up not being available when I got to my first pick up location at the shell on newtown rd. I was pushed further and further back from moving.AMANDALYNN S.

check your equipment to make sure it is working. I had to drive with my flasher on so they would be able to see the trailers, because the trailer lights with off and on. To improve you can make it so that a reservation made a month in advance actually reserves the truck at the location you choose. The night before my move I was called by someone from the down town Norfolk office to tell me they wouldn't have my truck and that it was at the Raby Rd. location. What is the point of a reservation if you can't guarantee the vehicle will be at the office nearest to me even if I give a month's notice? This is a confusing and frustrating way to do business. The woman who called to tell me this gave me attitude when I asked why the location was changing. She's probably tired of having to be the front line for a stupid policy. When I went to pick up the truck at the new location I attempted to use the all hours check in using my phone. This was pretty clunky. The truck wasn't in the spot it said it was and I had to wake up my wife so someone could call her and verify her as an alternate contact. After walking all around the the lot I found the truck but with none of the moving equipment I'd paid to rent inside it. When I found an employee she told me they weren't open so I asked how I should get the stuff I'd paid for. She took care of it for me but, had I come as early as planned no one would have been there and I would have had to come back out to get the dolly and pads. Really unimpressed with how all this worked, particularly for a cost of over $100. I'm planning to tell my friends to avoid U Haul if they can and I will certainly do anything I can to give some other truck rental service my money before putting up with this shit again.Matthew C.

The app to sign the truck back in is RIDICULOUS and didn't work. I was transferred to so many different agents who would not help me and were rude. It's also a very unsafe policy since I was stuck on site for 40 minutes in the dark, alone as a woman, trying to take pictures. VERY UNSAFE AND UNPROFESSIONAL AND ILL NEVER USE UHAUL AGAIN.DEANNA J.

The only concern I have is safety for my things because there is no gate and the other concern I have is that there are mice. My first storage unit had a ton of droppings in it and the mouse trap put inside wasn't filled w mouse poison. The other unit also didn't have any mouse poison in the bait trap. It was quickly rectified by your staff but I'm hoping mice do not destroy my couch and other items. Toni was amazing! She was knowledgeable, thorough and efficient. She should have a golf cart to run to check units. She literally has to run to 3 different units to ensure I had proper size to accommodate my belongings. She was courteous and caring to ensure I had everything I needed. Poor customer service. Was told truck wasn't available the day I rented it. I had to wait until the next day. The next day, poor customer service. Returned truck about 15 minutes late and was charged for another full day with insurance. The manager Toni wasn't empathetic. Was told I couldn't speak with her manager. Honestly probably some of the worst customers service I've had. I wait for an hour and a half for him to help put a lock on my unit the lock he didn't tell me I had to by when I came in 10am that morning as well as he didn't give me the lock to lock up our truck. I had to come in a second time to get everything I needed and waited over an hour for something as simple as lock. I called earlier in the day to see if it was okay to park our uhaul there overnight which he agreed we got there and he gave us a spot then walked away came back two minutes later and said actually don't park here they'll steal parts off the truck and told us to park at Walmart even though he parked us surrounded by trucks and we called ahead to approve. End up being late to work when there was a 2 hour window; didn't have anything I needed for the units; as well as the guy just being unhelpfulJADEIYANA B. | First Impressions
Autumn on Monticello and Chris on Taby went above and beyond to help me. Chris had 5 or 6 people wanting him or call for him or waiting in line and he was amazing. He started focused, kind, patient and professional. I was so impressed with his multitasking abilities. There was a young lady there training and she jumped right in and helped every way she could.
