I was given a rental truck that was unacceptable by Phillip Jarmon, the General manager of the establishment. He said that he knew of the Lock of the drivers door was not functioning and he did not know that the door was damaged and was letting air and road noise into the cabin. I showed this to him and he told me to go inside. He ask me what I wanted to do. ( I could not believe what I was hearing!!!) I told him that I want another vehicle that would take care of my safety and my needs to complete my journey. So he set it up and let his personnel handle this situation. The gentleman was backing up the damaged vehicle to bring it to the new vehicle he had brought out. Darron SCREAMED at him thru his walkie talkie. Get OUT, Get OUT, GET OUT. He replied that the employee was not to get into the old vehicle because I had my (Quote) stuff. He said that he would not even transfer the utility dolly that was a Uhaul rented tool. I had filled the old truck up to above the full level 35.571gal. So he would not even transfer the Utility dolly. So it took me 45 minutes from the time I arrived to the time I departed. I asked him about the monies that I had just spent to fill the old truck. He said that it would be credited to my account when i returned the vehicle. I said that was needed to continue my trip for gas money. He said nothing he could do. The new vehicle was acceptable after going over it (the employee said that the black "X") were already addressed and I need not include in my inspections spending and extra 30 minutes for nothing. So, left distraught having to go to my daughters business to cool down collect my thoughts and cool down. Leaving and arriving 5 hours behind schedule. Finding out that there were only 5 blankets and I needed 6. Filling up three times in three different places made my debt card company to lock my account. Finding this out when I went to get a room to shower and rest so as to return to Beaumont. So, leaving at midnight traveling on, I stop at a roadside stop to sleep and be able to continue. 2 1/2 hrs. of sleep I needed to urinate badly and urinated on the outside of the vehicle and continued. Arriving home to unload. Having the movers back out and not have the time to take care of my unloading. A newly acquaintance passed by and help me. We unloaded the rest of the truck and I cleaned the interior of the cab and the rear compartment, put the blankets back in the case. Then the morning of Monday July, 26th returned to the Beaumont establishment where I picked it up at on Friday July 23rd. I entered the building to deliver the keys and he took the keys and walked outside. So I followed him to the vehicle and while he was taking pictures of the odometer I ask him, why he would do this to me on the first vehicle. He said he did nothing wrong and looked at me with a snobby grin and said and I quote "I didn't do anything wrong" he said that yes, he knew about the lock but that that particular truck was a rentable truck. I then told him "NO SIR IT WAS NOT" he said yes it was, I then I elevated my voice and told him that his demeanor and his attitude was not at all what a person of his ability's and stature of the company that he represented, should not be posturing himself in that manor. I walked away and proceeded to the checkout desk to receive my final bill. He returned and proceeded the checkout paperwork. I spoke to him directly apologizing about the confrontation that ensued outside. He said that that never happened. I handed him my credit card which was denied. I said that this bill is not something that I had calculated, so I told him that this bill would be address as soon as I could address the facts. So, he printed the document to send me down the road. Not saying thank you for your business, I would not tolerate and employee treating there client in this manor. So, doing research on Monday I proceed to calculate the charges and address the payment. Tuesday I contacted Uhaul and the original lady transferred me to Marsha, she had a hard time finding my account. I noticed that the receipt was in Arthur Halter address 115 Pecos st. Glen Rose Texas 76048. Arthur E. Halter Jr is my name and all my transactions address in this manor as my Name, Address PO Box 2226 Nederland Texas, 77627. So, I Paid the bill thru my bank card and all is complete. I have graved reservations about Uhaul Beaumont Texas. My dealings with Mr. Phillip Jarmon are reserved. As lifetime U-Haul customer I was shocked at the tone and condescending phone conversation Donald had with my wife. We had to extend our rental by two days as we were in Michigan's Upper Peninsula looking for a new home. When we extended our rental on July 22 there was no mention of the time the equipment needed to be returned, note this was a 19 day rental to look for our retirement home and what time said equipment "needed" to be returned was not a concern. I paid through Sunday July 25 and to us that means close of business on July 25 at 5:00pm. Donalds attitude and tone with my wife, whom he called on my phone and answered by the hands free of our SUV, almost caused me to wreck or pull over. He started the conversation with "your rental was due at 8:00 where are you"? That quickly moved on to when will you get here and we close at 5:00. This is where I jumped in and stated, " it's none of your business where we are, we are grown ass adults and do not talk to us like children. When I arrived, after starting our drive in Sikeston, MO at 5:00am to arrive before close of business. Donald first denied he was on the call but then admitted he was and became very aggressive stating it was his business and took what I feel is your core value of customer first and treated me like a third class citizen. I do not want to hear from the Mgr of that location, as I stopped using that location several years back for your other location, due to BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. If this is not important to the district or area mgr, there is no help for your company in Beaumont, Tx.Cathy B.

DO AWAY WITH THE ADDITIONAL REFERENCE PROTOCOL!!!! I wanted to surprise my wife with my arrival but, due to my spur of the moment need to provide two reference numbers she was called by UHAUL just to see if she new me! It's a redundant concept considering I could pay ANYONE(stranger(s)) to answer for me and ,therefore, obtain a rental. If it is UHAUL's intentention to burden customers(with excellent rental histories) with providing "reference numbers" I will no longer rent from them EVER! Because of your computer generated system, i had to pay $150.00+ For 3 DAYS! When i only needed it for one day. Literally had it for 24 hours. It was truly disheartening to have created an online appointment, checked in online to avoid a lengthy check in process when I arrived, only to have to start all over again with the check in process when I arrived at my rental location. Almost pointless! My appointment time was 10am and I was still subjected to a wait in line for over 20 minutes or more. Then, once I completed the rental, I was told I couldn't rent due to an issue I'd have to call in about. It ended up being a mishap that was supposed to be cleared up on my assistant's account from 12 years ago. My phone representative did clear up the issue quickly but it caused me to have to go back to the location and start back at step one.All in all, it took me over 2 hours just to rent my vehicle which threw my schedule off for the rest of the day. Timeliness is essential when planning events and this was just not a good experience for me this past weekend. PLEASE make this process smoother for your customers!Erica J.

Personnel needs to be trained. It seems regardless of which location I visit, there are always new personnel either being trained or just overall unprepared. Making a reservation does not shorten the time required to pick up the rental. Additionally, the communication between the office and the lot is not crisp. On my last rental, I rented 12 pads but only received 6. I didn't bother to ask for a refund for the other 6. I just knew that would be asking for a lot more time wasted. So, I left things as they were. Overall, the service you provide is badly needed. I just think you could do so much better in terms of being customer focused.ROGER S.

Despite online reservations, the check in process was cumbersome (check out upon return, though, was efficient and uneventful). Furthermore, the vehicle we reserved in advance was not available when we arrived at the time that UHaul provide. Only after a long discussion where we proposed an alternative solution regarding available vehicles, did the staff agree to lease a vehicle to us.RICK L.

You need more people helping at the front. There was only one person working the counter and the line was all backed up I had a reservation for 4pm I didn't get called to the counter until 4:23pm! That's just unacceptable to be standing in line for 23mins! That's not the worst of it. I brought was supposed to have the uhaul from 4pm -10pm so upon me returning it and do everything I was instructed to do, I check my account the next day and see that they double charged me for the uhaul. When you call to speak to a representative they answer the phone and leave you hold on forever so I had to go up there. When I get there it's still only one person working the counter and he told me they â€œaccidentallyâ€ charged me for 2 days! That's from lack of paying attention. Then I noticed they were trying to take extra money from my account after they had already taken their money out which would make a total of 3x they charged my card . I was telling the representative about it and he said I need to call my bank about it cause he can only refund the first amount that they over charged me! So I will definitely NOT do business with this uhaul location again! Unprofessional and understaffed!Jacouline L.
My only complaint is regarding the phone. I called all week trying to confirm my online registration. Each time, I was out on hold and left there for 20+ minutes. It almost felt intentional. Other than that, the process was smooth.Kamryn U.
Check-out service was quick and easy with no crowds. Check-in was potentially a long-drawn-out process in a very crowded office with only one counter station manned. HOWEVER, I used the Mobile app, and check-in was accomplished in 10 minutes.. I advise every customer to set up an account during the rental process and you will save a lot of time every time.James K.

Reserved online and was told the trailer would be ready and available. Had to wait in line and then go through whole rental /registration process again at the store. Went through lengthy process to make sure that they could reach me and an additional contact by cell and email and charged my credit card BEFORE telling me that they did not have the required electrical cable to hook up the lights and that I would need to leave and go purchase the cable at parts store and return before they could give me the trailer they had just charged me for. I was told that I would not be reimbursed for the cost of the connection. I asked the manager if he would like me to purchase some extra electrical cable for him so that this would not happen to other customers and he just laughed and said no. The cable cost $10.81 with tax - almost as much as the trailer rental for the day. I consider it false advertisement not to disclose the additional charge for the electrical cable and the need to drive away and purchase parts. The gentleman who helped hitch and unhitch the trailer was very nice and professional. When he asked me if they took good care of me inside. I said, NO. He said, "I am sorry." Which I appreciated because the clerk and manager did not seem the least bit sorry about the extra cost or inconvenience. After I returned the trailer, about an hour later I received a call asking why I had not yet return the trailer. I explained that I already had and that an employee had assisted me and made sure everything was returned in working order. He said oh - I will go check. About an hour later after not hearing back from him, I called back asking if he located the trailer. He said oh yeah, we have it. Not thank you or sorry for the confusion or anything. It was an all-around frustrating experience. The trailer was clean and well suited for our needs but I will not be renting from or recommending this rental location to anyone in the future.LEE F.

Worst customer service experience ever from start to finish and I am 53 yeas old. I really demand at least a partial if not more refund. Truck was in horrible shape and not road worthy. I didn't receive it on time, I had to go to multiple locations to pick it up, I was supposed to be able to chose my drop off location and the was assigned one. Staff was rude and unknowledgeable at both pick up and drop off locations. I felt threatend and was yelled and cussed at by owner at drop off location. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE. The windshield was not cleaned of bugs from the previous trip, didn't notice this till after we had left the lot. I charged for items not received and I communicated to the staff on location at the time that I did not want nor intended to add. If you review the pictures originally taken of my U-haul, the utility dolly is missing. So, I went inside the location before I left to ask for one. I don't know her, so I'll have to describe her. She was a short black woman with her hair wrapped in a bun that I spoke with. She told me that they don't have a utility dolly, and tried to change it to an appliance dolly. The system wouldn't allow it, so I told her it's fine, I can get a dolly elsewhere. She also asked if I ordered furniture pads, and I told her no. At the time, I didn't realize she was telling me I actually had furniture pads added to my reservation, I thought she was trying to upsell me. She never clarified, nor attempted to refund it.ERIC D.

I have used Uhaul serveral tines before, i like climate control because it preserves my stuff better. When i moved the place was not dirty. My three main complaints are the storage thermostat said 85 degrees . The exit door at the end of the hall, emergency not the glass door there is a huge gap between the floor and the bottom of the door that air is escaping which contributes to the problem. Now on to the glass door it is broken falling off the hinges literally. The lock n key was in the storage when i arrived which was great! However the storage it self has insulation hanging down from the ceiling in my unit. So when we open the door the particles fly and guess where it's landing yes on the items I stored. I got locked in the gate because it was broken my code not an interning customers code was i for 15-20 minutes, i pressed the intercom and no on answered after several times I tried. . This was upsetting mostly because i couldn't get anyone on the local line or on the customer service . I'm just not use to no customer service like this. Additionally the young lady on the 1800 # was very apologetic and I did appreciate that. She said " I'm very sorry this is not the experience we want you to have with Uhaul" ( she made the difference for me, i was really frustrated) and proceeded to transfer me to another department to handle my complaint. I held on another 10 minutes and I just hung up because that was an extra 30 minutes taken from me moving. I had people helping me. I went back to storage on yesterday and my code didn't work again, so i had to sit in the line and wait till someone could look up my information, i understand that part bUt it really does negate the whole check in not having to wait issue. The young man did give me a card which worked and i did appreciate that . Never the less i am dissatisfied with my unit! I will be moving when my month is over, i don't pay to get insulation particles on me or my stuff nor do I pay for my belongings to be the same temperature as the none climate control. Oh n I never had to sign in at the building ( when entering) so safety is also an issue, just drive your car up and the glass door opens up no code needed. I came in the day before I needed a moving truck. Started rental agreement asked to pay and complete all requirements. I was told to look for a email from uhaul. I answered the questions and was told this would speed up the pick up prosthes. After standing in for 45 to 65 minutes. I was told I must have a person that could be called then and knows me. Or have my passport. I was in uhaul's history.... I had 3 uhaul uboxes go under water and you threw contents away. I received 1 1/2 boxes out of 3. You had it for 30 days. The truck was given to us with a broken gage so we didn't know that it was low on gas so I drove the truck home loaded it up and then it would not start so I go to the store and get some gas which I only had a 2 gallon jug at the time I went back and forth filling the 2 gallon gas can for three trips and it was the same result so I went and got a 5 gallon gas can so I went back and forth filling the 2 gallon and five gallon gas cans I did this twice and still it would not start finally I decide that I need to call the u- haul place so they tell me that I have to call road side so I call roadside and I wait almost 2 hours for them to get there and still nothing is fixed they tell me that it is a fuel pump not working and they will have to tow it to where we were moving to so we can unload the truck so finally we unload the truck and they tow it away leaving us with no truck to finish moving all of the rest of my stuff and then when I went up there the next morning they still want to charge me and tell me that the truck was out of gas and that they want charge me for that. I did not get a chance to use the vehicle nor did I even get to move all of my stuff so should not have charged anything I feel.LESLIE JAMES JR C.

Units flooded- was given a brochure as Contact info for damages. It was not the correct brochure. Items were placed in a storage box and sent to Louisiana. The woman working Saturday around 1PM (i-10, Bmt TX) was very slow in processing the long line of customers because she was training another employee. She didn't acknowledge any of the 7 people waiting while she came and went checking in and out one customer at a time. More staffing would have been ideal on a busy Saturday. After checking in my rental thoroughly and explaining everything and adding personal experience stories to her trainee, she said I was done. I took that opportunity to tell her there was no toilet paper or paper towels in the climate controlled facility(that I just spent 3 hours moving into). She laughed it off while saying her housekeeper was off today. She then went back into the office. I walked past an overflowing trashcan in the parking lot to my ride only to hear how rude the woman had been to my friend waiting for me in the parking lot and to another potential customer. Everyone that I had encountered prior to the this woman did an outstanding job handling my account, from picking up in lake charles to the multiple phone calls I had to make to find storage an hour away from where I need to be due to the losses in our hometown area. I had to pay extra to move and store my items due to the hurricane decreasing availability. A wrong turn upon arrival put me short in gas and over in milage beside being late w the truck. I'd expect the facility to be properly staffed and maintained. I also had a lot of problems with app account...I wasn't able to use it hardly at all. I don't live here anymore so when the storage got flooded I wasn't able to come here until now. When I went to clean it out they said they went in there to make sure there wasn't any mold. Several pairs of Jordan and Nike sneakers are missing. I had a pair of red bottom heals that I only had worn twice are all beat up like someone wear them in a marathon. I'm just glad they were not missing as well. The sneakers were stored high enough that I know they did not get damaged in the flood. I believe the were stolen.NICOLE C. | Overall Experience

The storage was great Philip the manager is awesome the whole insurance thing for flood and this is a flood area really ran me hot if I would have known it wasn’t covered I would have took my chances without paying for insurance only to get no help from Fema so I lost things that were valuable so it hurt like I’m sure it did for others.Geneva W. | Overall Experience
We were sorely disappointed with how this location handled our belongings during Tropical Storm Imelda, Sept 2019. The staff took it upon themselves to dispose of our furniture and various items without giving us a chance to make an assessment, even though they promised to do so. The items were in storage while we renovated our property and since then we've had to refurnish the whole house. Phillip, one of the owners of this location, is the ABSOLUTE WORST when it comes to customer service.
