The truck only had an 1/8 of a tank of gas, so left to fill it before we headed home to load. When I got on the Interstate the truck was shaking terribly. We called they said, "oh, just press the tow button." That didn't help. I got to the next exit and turned around to head back to the Uhaul store. The girls there, said " just drive it to your destination and call for roadside assistance. " They didn't even come outside to look at it. So, got back on the Interstate with the truck shaking, got home contacted roadside assistance. It was a bad front driver's side tire. Driving on the Interstate if that would have blown with an empty truck could have flipped and caused injury. I am very disappointed that no one bothered to check the truck prior to us renting it or when I came back with it complaining. This whole ordeal put us 2 hours behind schedule. Friends helping with loading had to sit around and wait and some friends helping to unload at our final destination had leave for work before we arrived. The roadside assistance guy with A-Z Fleet Service was very friendly and helpful. He got us on the road as quick as he could. But, we should have never had to be in that situation. We originally were supposed to pick up a truck that we reserved on Tulane Ave. they did not have a truck so we were sent to Slidell to pick it up. The people were great in Slidell, but our overall experience was very poor with uhaul since we had to delay our move by over two hours. I will never use uhaul again.Davy G.

The vehicle was clean and well maintained. The employees at the store did a fine job. That said, your prices are WAY too high. They're as high as they are deceiving. Why paint $19.95 on the side of a vehicle knowing there's no way a customer will ever drive it out of your parking lot for that price. The Metairie location (where I originally reserved the truck) did not have a truck. They directed me to the Slidell location, which added an additional hour to my 3.5 hour drive from Alexandria, LA to Metairie, LA. No apology, unwilling to go to Slidell and bring truck to Metairie, no offer of discount. Investigate the Phillips Bldg Supply in Picayune - that location has a history of being unable to supply one-way out of town trucks. VERY frustrating! Also, the Picayune location is telling U-Haul customers that "U-Haul has a shortage of trucks in the whole state of Mississippi". Really?! That sounds like U-Haul corp is ignoring an entire state's needs! I hope the Picayune location is only playing dirty on a local level.Dawn L.

I reserved a storage unit and rented an additional unit upon arrival. When I rented the additional unit, I also rented a 15' truck. When renting the truck, I explained to the clerk that I had to return to my house an hour away to load more items and had run out of room in my initial unit, so I would be returning in a few hours, which would have been after 8pm, to unload into the unit and return the truck. She even explained how to do the after hours truck return. She gave me the key card for the additional unit, and labeled each unit on each card. Upon return, I gained access with the new key card but was not able to enter my new unit. After trying several times, I walked to the front of the gate, checked out with the key card, and checked back in. When I walked back to my unit, I was still denied access. I walked back to the front, checked out, and then checked in with my other unit key card. Walked back to my unit, and tried to use that card, but was again denied. At took approximately 30-40 minutes. At this point, I saw the after hours number for Marty Martin, the manager. I called the number but got a voicemail, to which I left a message. A few minutes later, I called again but had to leave another voicemail. After waiting awhile, I called again and he answered. I explained the issue and he asked if I purchased 24 hour access. I told him that I told the clerk I would need to access my units after hours to which she explained the extra charge. After entering a code he gave me at the unit and still being denied, he had me once again walk to the front gate and enter a code. Once I walked back to the unit, he had me enter a code again, which finally opened my unit. From the time I arrived to the time I was able to access my unit, it took an hour. After moving all day, the last thing I wanted to do was waste an hour at 9pm waiting to access my unit. The next day, today, I noticed a charge for $1.95 on my account. When I called to inquire about the charge, the clerk who answered, crystal, told me that it was for the one mile I went over from what was quoted. I began to explain what happened last night, and she told me it wasn't her and she was not showing I had 24 hour access. I explained that I had specifically requested to have this access and why. I also voiced that I thought it was poor taste on their part to charge me for one mile after I had the experience that I did the night before. At this point, I was told again rudely it wasn't her and basically it wasn't her problem. I called Marty to let him know about being charged for one mile after what happened the night before. As I'm telling him, I had to wait an hour, he became very rude, defensive, and indignant that he didn't take an hour to resolve the issue. He was more worried about being argumentative about the time frame and never spoke anything about the reason I called him. At no time did he ever apologize for the experience I had last night or when I called the clerk today. As the manager, he has very poor customer service skills and is reflected in his employee. Not only do I have two storage units at this facility but my father has stored his motor home here for the last 7 years. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at this uhaul, especially by the manager. I would like to hear back from someone who is over the manager at this point. I'm extremely dissatisfied and looking to have my belongings relocated next month if this situation is not addressed. I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter. Thank you. Amie SilcioAmie S.

I had an exterior wall unit & the climate control was not adequate in that space. Despite signs that said the building was sprayed for pest control I regularly saw bugs (including cockroaches) around the building. I found termite wings in my unit also. Everytime I went to my unit there was dirt in the loading/unloading area. The lighting was fine in the hallways, but the outdoor & unit lighting is poor and with cameras only on the doors of the buildings, not inside, I believe it is sub-par for security. I waited a total of 30 minutes from the time I got to the U-Haul storage storefront to get into my storage unit. I had to pay the movers for this time because of the poor management at the desk. There was one women there and she was juggle 3 phones calls while trying to check me into my reservation. She was going back and forth to each call helping everyone at the same time(including me) but the problem was that she was only giving each customer a small portion of her time which meant we all had to wait an extra long time. Honestly, I should have been priority because I was physically there and I had a reservation. Having to pay the movers more money for U-Hauls problems made me the most angry. It cost me $35 extra dollars that I paid to the movers. I would like to be refunded this money from U-Haul since it was U-Haul's poor customer service that led to me spending that money. I had never gone to my storage due to illness. When it was time to pickup my furniture, it had been ran through in my boxes items thrown around looking for valuables and brand new items were stolen down to kitchen towels and glass crafted beveled mirrors. My lock was cut and they put their own lock on it hoping I would not be able to access entry and the rest would be auctioned. They broke glass tables and all. ***Do Not*** store anything of value at this place. Highly disappointed since I have used Uhaul Tilane Ave for many years with no theft issues or poor service.
