Hire more staff.The exit doors most of the time were not working and there was no signage up to know.Me and another customer got locked out in the yard the one day the exit door was working and the gate to get out was locked.I was stuck outside in the heat for over an hr until a customer seen me from inside and let me in.Any time Ivtried phoning Uhaul I was on hold for 40 minutes.Managed to get someone in the United States but she could not get through either.I had to hold the door and wait for the other customer to come back to let him in.The alarm from the side door went off for 30 mins before it quit and no one came.The emergency button was pressed a few times while in the storage unit area and no one responded.I found out there was only one staff member on.This is so not fair to any staff working there.I witnessed them constantly being berated and yelled at by frustrated customers.This location on enterprise in Kelowna was terrible from a business perspective.Jeanine K.

Super busy wait times. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The truck I rented was the worst vehicle i have ever driven. Back door was so rusty it was hard to open. The exhaust manifold had a hole in it so I lost power and it was unbearably noisy. The check engine light was on as well. Plus the lock that came with the truck was half cut and didn't work. The guy who checked me back in was great. The vehicle I rented was an embarrassmentEric E.

Not book in the west kelowna location. The lady working there was rude, and very inconsiderate. We booked a 26 foot truck and was guaranteed to have it there. It was not and had to drive even further to get one on our move day. It added way more stress to our move then was need with an already short possession time. There is multiple reviews online where this has happened and unfortunately it happened to us as well. Very disappointed in the service that was given as a paying customer. The kelowna location we ended up getting the truck from was very helpful and highly professional on the other hand.Nick S.

BUT I am just getting zero help by Roadside assistance on just getting any refunds or credits for future rentals on two truck fails and one of which had faulty brakes! Had to leave that truck behind in Salmon Arm as a breakdown and that Uhaul place was not even open regular hrs to assist me there. Just a painful process to the max! Seems as though it is my fault that TWO trucks broke down and I only did the right thing and survived! Geesh!Nolan P.

I made 2 trips to this location. Prior to renting and when I rented. The staff at this location are very customer focused and very helpful. On the day of pickup, there did seem to be a shortage of works as the line moved slow with only 1 person dealing with several people picking up units. I actually felt sorry for the guy. I ordered a U-Haul to be picked up near my house. The pick-up location was then changed to one much further away. When I got there I was told there were no moving dollies, even though I had paid to reserve one. My experience continued downhill from there. U-Haul is a poorly run disaster of a company and I feel bad for the people that have to work there.Crystal H.
I rented a cargo van for a round trip from Kelowna to Calgary and back. The van was clean, really nice to drive and had lots of power. I am a 68 year old lady with sore knees and back who had a big job ahead. I was rather dreading it, but the the efficient and polite staff, and the really good cargo van, made it all turn out much better than I thought possible. The cargo van I used today had an issue with the gas gauge. I started at 1/4 tank. I drove about 33 km and the gas gauge was almost to 1/8. I went to go top off the gas, starting at $15, then $20, then $25 and then at $30. Gas gauge was showing it was still way below 1/4 mark. I thought since gas price is at $2.18 and the van may be a gas guzzler, I put in an extra $10. The cause gauge was just under the 1/4 mark still. I drove three blocks away and the gauge jumped up to almost half tank. I talked to the technician on site and he admitted that some of the van gas gauge acts up if the vehicle has been sitting for a while but he couldn't do anything to compensate for the error. Soâ€¦my advise for others to be be wary of how much gas you fill up because the gas gauge may not be working properly. Was not to happy about this experienceThang N.

We did have excellent service from the staff person who did the return walk thru of the van. But the in office staff were not very organized (had trouble finding our locker key, didn't email us ahead of time that they had upgraded the lock so we went all the way to the unit and couldn't get inside) and didn't respond to the storage area intercom when I called to find out where my new key was.Jen M.

I wish UHAUL can improve the 24-7 online system. I struggled a bit because the place of my order in the phone looked differently that the message I received some days before the service. So, that is confusing. It is also confusing that the things you already selected before, including tools, insurance, etc, are again needed to be chosen in the online system before pickup. I ended up adding a service such as furniture pads by error as I did that under pressure to start service. Things like that should be avoided for the overall customer experience.Edel R. M.

I booked my 20' truck at least 2 weeks in advance, but they did not have a 20' truck for me when I went to pick up. The guy I spoke with was able to find me another truck but it wasn't the size I wanted. All of this took more time out of my day so I didn't pick up the truck until over an hour after I was supposed to. When I returned the truck a few days later, I was an hour and forty five minutes past when Uhaul expected it, based on my original booking time, and I was charged almost $100 more. Absolutely terrible experience, very very unimpressed, originally had the cargo van which I was told numerous times that I could pay for with my Visa Debit but upon arrival at U-Haul was told I needed a Major Credit Card and then was told I had to rent a truck which cost a lot more. Very very unimpressed with my experience. Also rented a storage locker, upon trying to pay my bill my account had no record of my locker, when I called they also had no record of it. Very unimpressed and will never be renting from U-Haul again.ZoÃ« T.

Truck drove horribly, the alignment was off and truck pulled to the right. And tires were not balanced properly. Around 30km-50km crazy shaking, and also above 80km and also found out about half way threw my trip that there were cigarette butts onder the driver seat and ash that was in the vents and blew All over my passengers when they were turned on.. overall goodand worked for what i needed.. But some things need to change/fixed. Like at least vacuuming the truck before it is sent out again.. and taking the trucks on more test drives to be sure it is safe and properly maintained.spencer S.

Given the wrong unit. Pick up location said they would correct in system. At drop off showed them that I had a different unit then the contract. They said they would take care of it . Then I start getting calls for not returning my unit. Sure glad I had a photo to use as proof of the actual unit we had.Austen L.
1. First call went to Georgia USA. they were not familiar with our trucks in Canada and could not enter our postal codes. 2. Booked truck online with 2 Large dolleys and padded blankets. The truck I got though is getting quite old and just a worry it will crap out one day and the last customer did not put the fuel back to the level it was to be at starting at and my signing it out so I am writing this to make sure that customer got billed as it put me out having to get gas before a job as it was on EMPTY when I left with it. We loaded the trailer and wanted to separate the vehicles but we're unable to once it's loaded.! Very frustrating for people with no smart phone. We were unable indicate previous damage on van, because had to use a smartphone. No telephone # for roadside assistance, just a web site, what do you do if you don't have internet.. Filling up the gas tank to 3/8 full, impossible to gauge, s/b full to full. Really need a work around for internet, & smart phone, limits who can use this service. We probably would not use for any distant moves because we do not have a smart phone. Could not recommend Uhaul because of the reliance of internet/smartphone requirement, not everyone has a smartphone & internet connection.ORVILLE M.

Representative did not tell us we only had 30 minutes to move into the unit. When we found out after we paid the $25 upgrade fee to a bigger unit, we asked to keep the smaller unit and come back another day to make the move when there was ample time. He said he was unable to reverse it and he would give us until Tuesday. We tried to rush to get the first load to the new unit until we got to it and it reeked of beer and mold and was all wet. We asked once again to keep the smaller unit as this one was unfit. The paper I was given, along with my online account both said that the access was until 10pm. We arrived at 10 min to 7 one night and were told you close at 7. I would suggest that you cross off the times on the paper people are given as well as have the times changed on the online accounts. Our things were in the back of our truck and trailer in the pissing rain all night and lots of things were ruined. Also I was told I had to buy one of your locks, which was fine, but you did not have any new ones so I paid for a used one. When I put the lock on with no problem however when attempting to open it the next day, it would not work. I was told that I had to hire and pay a locksmith out of my own pocket to gain access to my locker because the locker I bought from you did not work. Once I had the lock removed I went to go buy a new lock from Home Depot in the style that I was told was mandatory. When I came back to put it on, my locker was open and contents moved. I understand that I should have locked it however I had a hard time finding the type of lock. When we came back our locker was wide open. I was also not able to get my money back from the broken lock that was sold to me. I really have no time or energy to continue discussing this as it is a very stressful time. Snow clearing of walkways and stairs was poor at best. Staff does not acknowledge customers standing in front of them and are generally disgruntled and not happy to assist. Only solution was to rent me a bigger unit than I reserved and I had to pay the extra monthly fees for it. Also they made me buy a lock from them simply because they didn't like the one I had and said I couldn't use it on their locker. A couple of weeks into the rental I then got an email informing me that my monthly fees would be going up an additional $10 per month. To top it all off they don't list a phone number for the actual Kelowna location anywhere on their website so if you want to talk to someone at the office you literally have to drive all the way down there and do it in person. Thank you so much. The lockers were exactly what I needed and it was very helpful to have a dry load/unload bay. Only issue is the elevator does not stop properly to match the floor height. 1) Staff put an extra lock in my storage unit even when the monthly rent was being withdrawn from my credit card every month 2) The excuse was that I did not have a proper lock in my unit, although the lock we used was a uHaul branded and recommended lock 3) When I complained about this I was informed that they had left a telephone message advising me to change the lock to a round style lock to get in line with security guidelines 4) When we rented the unit those locks were out of stock and on the recommendation of the staff at the time we used an alternative uHaul lock 5) I was unable to change the lock even if I wanted to because I was in Calgary at the time of the message and I would not have spent $550 for a trip to Kelowna just to change the lock. 6) I had a very poor experience with your staff this time not only because of this, but because uHaul had messed up my trailer reservation for Monday, September 27 and given me notice just a day before that my trailer was a 4X8 instead of the 5X8 I had reserved in August. Your staff was not very helpful in trying to redress this poor planning on the part of uHaul blaming the central scheduling unit of uHaul for this poor treatmentCarlos S. | Overall Experience

I will avoid using Uhual even again. Worst company I've ever dealt with. To clarify, staff were friendly and tried to help within their limited means. I was rented a vehicle storage stall that wasn't even available as it was covered in construction debris. I walked around and around trying to find my spot, not a single person available to help me. Finally another customer helped me out. I did finally find a staff member to help me but he was reluctant to do so (but still friendly once we started walking and talking). Got my stall switched to one that was actually available. Then I needed to refund a storage lock I had just purchased as it wasn't required. Not sure why I wasn't told that when I was purchasing it. The same staff member tried to refund the lock but did not have the authority to do so. Asked manager to come and help but manager refused to do so. Told staff to have me leave the lock and it would get refunded - it never did. I called the call centre numerous times. They tried to help and emailed Uhual asking Uhaul to call me. No one ever contacted me. Worst experience ever. I will never recommend this company for vehicle storage. The hours I wasted trying to just get some help are astonishing.Kerry L. | Overall Experience

Booked the storage online 2 weeks in advance. Showed up at the facility at 6:45pm with my load of belongings. I was informed that Uhaul in Canada doesn't accept the online bookings. It was confirmed, so what is that all about? Not good. Thankfully, there was a space available. However! I was told I couldn't unload because they were closing in 15 mins, although it's secure with a code etc. There I am with a rented trailer that had to be back that night, my hired help and a storage space I couldn't access. We took our boat out of storage in June. We waited in line to let the staff know and were told "the billing system is down" but assured our account would be closed. We were charged for storage again in July. We went in and spoke to a "manager" who apologized and told us it would be rectified that day. We were charged again in August. Again, we went in and met a different manager who apologized, told us there was a lot of staff turnover but assured us we would receive a refund that day. We were charged again in September. We went into the location yesterday and met with Cale - he handled the situation on the spot, provided us with receipts for the refund of the overcharged amounts. I found the irst staff member at the counter; seemed like he wasn't interested in helping us at first. This is when we first acquired the unit. The facility is lovely. Everything is brand new and has plenty of space. A complaint I have is that every time I used the bathroom, it was always dirty with garbage overflow, dirty floors and toilet & the sink always had gross stuff in it. Also only having 1 bathroom for a facility that size is ludicrous!! At the very least there should be a washroom on every floor. The times I'd gone to my unit there was a young woman pushing a cleaning cart, yet I seen her spending more time texting and talking on her phone then pushing a broom. Regarding access to the facility, it should be a 24 hour availability. There's already security in place so why not have 24 hour accessibility. However I've had interactions with the manager who is extremely nice and accommodating.
