The truck had 138000 miles on it the steering wheel had to be held at 10 O’clock just to keep it straight! Also it had clunking in the steering linkage! That truck should be retired!!

Everything was really nice- except when I found out my new account was on some kind of security hold. After being on hold waiting for a customer service rep at the corp office for over 1 hour (evidenced by the timer on my phone), we found out it was a “computer glitch” the company had known about for over 2 days!! Really?!? And to get to customer service, we had to use a second phone to call in. After 1 hour waiting on my phone, never did connect with a rep. Already stressed from moving, and under a massive time crunch, the 1.5 hour set-back wasn’t received by us very positively. The gentleman in the Johnsburg field office was great. Corp IT office could use help.

In some cases it was jerking our car over the road. Had the trip been a bit longer, we would have been forced to return it. We canceled our reservation for the following weekend as we were concerned that it would damage our vehicle and reserved a truck with Penske instead. We've traveled with a trailer before, it was a very old trailer but yet it towed far better. Just a very concerning experience.

Leighann L Vaughn3/14/24 made reservation online. 3/19/24 purchased 3 mattress bag sets with handles online. 3/20/24 12:00 noon arrived to pick up 10 ft. truck and mattress bag sets. I showed McHenry store employee mattress bag sets order and reservation. He gave me 3 mattress bags and said truck was ready to go & keys in it. I wrote mileage 92646 and fuel level between 5/8 & 3/4. At move site I opened mattress bag and found one thin clear mattress cover with no handles. 3/20 05:30 put 3 1/2 gals. of gas in 10ft. truck to get gas gauge to 3/4 which was more than when I got it. 3/20/24 05:45 returned truck 92670 miles and mattress bags. Truck check in employee said he would email receipt. Inside employee gave me refund for bags & said email receipt. Refund was $25.79 but I paid $59.10. I was charged $42.00 for 8gals. of gas. Since I don't have a smart phone the paper work came to email which I checked 3/24/24. I was defrauded out of $33.31 for mattress bag sets and $42.00 for gas. These employees see us seniors without smart phones as easy marks to fraud.

Stefan JaskotI rented the 6 foot wide trailer with the ramp because i needed the width. I come to find out that the opening at te rear of the trailer is only 5 feet wide. This almost caused a problem loading save for some dismantling of the tractor i was hauling. It would have been nice if that was mentioned before renting. I don't know if a wider trailer is available, but if it is, and i had known about the width issue, i would have rented the larger trailer.

Valentin LopezI was not informed that my ubox was delivered to a completely different location until 4:45 the day before I was supposed to pick it up. The man who called me to notify me was very unapologetic and couldn't explain why I wasn't notified earlier. My box was shipped on December 6th and arrived in San Diego on 14th. Your app told me it'd been delivered to Oceanside as arranged. It wasn't until the 18th. I found out that I would have to drive 45 minutes to retrieve it which was very inconvenient. When I arrived at the location no one was at the desk. I pressed the buzzer 12 times. Finally, I had to interrupt someone during their lunch. He casually told me that they had unloaded it somewhere over there and wanted to know if I knew my box number. Not a single person helped me to find my box. I was very disappointed by the entire experience. I will not be using Uhaul again

The first location was Dave's Auto Repair. I viewed the U-Haul self drop off video, but what was on it didn't match the instructions at the drop off location. I called the customer service and was instructed to drop it off at 74 N Grand Street in Fox Lake. My wife and I drove around that area and that establishment doesn't exists. So being frustrated I called it a night and went to bed at my daughters house in Volo. Sunday morning I called U-Haul customer service. I expressed my concerns. The young lady was soooooooo helpful. She sent me to a U-Haul location in McHenry. Why didn't the lady send to that location Saturday night? The location in McHenry was very nice.

The truck itself was extraordinarily uncomfortable and difficult to drive on the interstate.

Im referring to the the section where i had to complete the application by taking a selfie and take pictures of my drivers license. It was difficult and tedious because of the uploading process. I couldn't upload the pictures straight to the site. I had to upload from my gallery feature numerous times before it would show up on your form. There just seems like there were so many steps before i was able to complete the form. I was given an access code which when we arrived, didn't work. We tried it several times and had to go to the office several times before the the person at the desk came out to help us with the swipe in card/process before the door would open. This was extremely tiresome since we had just traveled 1200 miles non stop from Florida to McHenry, Illinois . Once inside i did find the facility warm and clean. I moved from a three bedroom house and had a 10 x 15 unit which was not large enough and didn't know i had the use of the unit next to the 10 x 15 until the office realized that i was supposed to have that too. Two units was texted to me but not explained since i was under the impression that i was only getting one unit. Thankfully the office person realized and apologized for not understanding how to interpret the information on his website. I was finally grateful that i did not have to pay extra. I also appreciated the free locks. I am a bit apprehensive about going back there again to retrieve certain items because it was so difficult to get in. All in all, things worked out but not easily. There were so many steps that i found the process very exasperating. I understand that this is for security reasons but if hadn't had to store my belongings i never would have frustratingly completed the all the steps.

It was safe, clean, dry, pest free, and I had no odors in any of our upholstery items after stored there for over a year and a half. Only issue that could use repair is the floor located in the indoor truck/vehicle loading area. The old store tyle floor is in need of replacement or resurfacing with a slip resistant product.

I paid for 24 hour access during regular store hours. I had to contact customer support at least 5 times for various reasons through out my pick up, including being unable to have access to the key for my truck rental for over an hour, I was charged for 24 hour access and wasn’t granted that upon arrival around 1:45am overall this really has been a terrible experience and all everyone can say is “you have to wait until regular business hours” or keep me on hold for over half an hour. This will now put me extremely behind with my deadlines. It is very upsetting that no one could help rectify this immediately!!!! Something that should have been not only already set up and ready to go as that is why we pay, has turned into not only an inconvenience but created an even more stressful situation than what moving already it on it’s own. Highly upsetting !!! Please rectify this so future customers don’t go through this !!

This business of charging a full months rent for a couple days is ridiculous. Should be prorated. You're just gonna rent it out again on top of that anyway n collect double rent that month.

sandy kroll | First ImpressionsThe only thing I found to be an inconvenience was that there's no garbage cans in the facility and I was told in order to use the dumpster that I would have to pay 15-20$ to throw away a ferret cage, an item about 5 foot tall and 2 feet wide. I understand it's not a small thing to toss but 15$ to use the garbage is a bit steep. So that would be the one change I'd make to the facility is that I'd have regular size garbage cans around the facility, and in the garage I'd have a few common sized dumpster so if a customer decides they need to toss something they don't have to rent a vehicle just to throw it away. Everything else was perfect.

I even called one night to inform the manager that two of the large bay doors were broken and stick open, He said that he would probably get down there to fix them that night. For a company that charges more because they promised"security" this was not the answer I expected. The final straw was when we came down to get some items from the unit and found employees walking around and not a care in the world while there was an SUV parked in the very first Bay, a Uhaull truck backed all the way up to the cart corral in the 3rd Bay with a pickup parked in front of that made it almost impossible to for my truck and trailer on the 2nd Bay. I started move out after the employees walked through the area and had to MacIver around the cluster that Bday 3 caused and had a their furniture blocking part of Bay 4 and the path way in front of the bathroom. Later that day two of the same employees were scavenging the recycle corral and had an in depth discussion about an art piece left behind. Then one employee took it, moved it behind other stuff and then came back to retrieve it for himself, while in uniform and on the clock because he returned to the desk after he took the piece outside. I moved out between the 26&27th Ave dropped my key card in the key drop box like I was told to do when I started the rectal and then cleaned it out, took my lock and left, took almost 2 weeks before they ever figured it out. I guess the blatant obvious was not a strong suit for these people especially when they had a girl (Paris) who walked through scanning the units with a bar code reader and we mentioned we were moving out. Like I said, we took our lock with us and swept out the unit. And that's another point, the floor in my unit was disgusting with some type of adhesive or polymer that was stuck to the floor and the manager when he started my rectal told me this was on the floor and they tried to revive it but don't worry it won't be my responsibility or charge back. I was able to chip most of it up with my foot so not sure how hard they tried to make this presentable. Of not for the free month, would never have stayed, but we moved out before the final day of contract and then no one answered when we tried to talk to them about issues. Was not the only time we had issues with front desk communication but won't use them again.

If I had any problems with my lock(not the slide bar) the staff were always helpful. I will definitely recommend Uhaul McHenry storage!

Staff is not needed with the swipe card And garage fob. I should not have to pay extra to access MY stuff in a facility that I pay for. I have had to speak with the staff at the front desk several times. They were very nice. There was always plenty of staffing when I visited. With that being said, anytime I called the store, I got the call center and was told they were too busy and they would never call back. I was told on many occasions that if anything was needed just to call. I have NEVER made it to the McHenry office. Only the call center.
