I requested a U-Haul big enough for a king size bed and an appliance dolly - I didn’t get either! Very disappointed
Ashley COverall, this was a good experience. The trailer was just what I needed, and the price was affordable. The price, however, increased because I arrived early. This was not explained to me before I was asked to sign for payment. I would appreciate more transparency when matters like this come up.

Debra AThe car dolly webbing that goes over the tire ripped and released the tire. I contacted the return location in Friendship, WI and was told to contact the rental location. I had to called three times on three different days to get a response to my issue. I was told that all they could do was give me a $50.00 certificate for a future rental. If the equipment that I rented failed to do the job it was intended for why would I rent another piece of equipment from U-Haul? You have lost me as a customer and I will make sure that I let friends and family know that U-Haul does not maintain their equipment and doesn't care about their customers.

The only downfalls I can say is that the bathroom at times were messy, the trash stored up front was never emptied during my course of time (end of December to mid February), and I had to ask multiple times for my free month for using a moving truck when it should’ve been easier to obtain that discount. The units were clean and easy to access. I thought the prices for the units were fair.

Tanya RHad a LR tail light out on the dolly. The U-Haul employee was very nice and informative, but only checked the hazards and sent me on my way. After dark, I had to buy some magnetic tail lights to get the dolly back to the store. Other than that very nice place, very good customer service.
Derek ZWhile the facility was nice as were the staff it became a problem for us when we were threatened to be locked out because of abuse of facility hours. When we signed all our paperwork the staff helping us told us that we would have 24/7 access. Over the last few weeks we have been moving into our new home finally and wanted to empty the storage unit when we were informed the policy was changed and that if we were found to be in the facility after 10pm again we would be locked out. That was absolutely unacceptable behavior for me from a business whose own website says 24/7 access. I will not be a returning customer at any point in my life and will not recommend to family and friends. I’m very disappointed in this company.

Sidney MOverall good experience. Both people that assisted me were overall good as well. Process was quick and smooth. One suggestion that I would make is to possibly put in a little bit more gas in the trucks when it is below zero outside as I could not get my truck to start at my first destination. However, after a few tries, it did end up starting.
Michelle LThe app needs work. Returning the trailer was a little frustrating due to the app not working. I ended up having to call for support and they had me do the task through my browser which worked right away. If there are known troubles with the app get them taken care of!
Josh FThe "return process" using the mobile app was a bit of a pain in the a**. I contacted support and they basically told me to login to the website and to not use the app. This worked and I was able to get "checked out".

Gregory CWent to pick up a twenty six foot truck and a six by twelve trailer The trailer was extremely dirty, And driving the truck was very loud and bouncy. When I returned the truck I told them about it and all he said was okay and then they charge me 3 gallons of gas at $11 The gauge was at 7/8 when I picked up the Brock. And it might have been one needle off when I returned. It can't believe how cheand irresponsible this location is to maintaining their vehicles

Timothy VLet customers know that you can’t go any faster than 77 or 78 mph, I got caught in busy traffic in the left passing lane, I couldn’t get over to the slower lanes, I would have sped up to get left, but realized that I couldn’t, I had a 26’ truck.

Virginia QWe had a need and this was perfect. This was my first experience with any type of storage facility. It was a very good one overall. VERY clean. My only suggestion would be that the attendant walk me through the process a tad slower regarding the swipe access card. Otherwise everything was smooth. Highly recommend this facility.

Also, we rented a storage locker the same day and was pleasantly surprised to get our first month rent free (by renting a van as well). Good job U-Haul
Ronald JThe agent was fantastic. Truly the most pleasant experience. I actually drove to Ft. to pick up the trailer as the agent at DuFrane in Fond du Lac was on a personal cell phone call and ignored me for just shy of 10 minutes. I walked out, called the Fort location and he stated he would have a trailer waiting for me. Took my card info over the phone to hold it, and had it ready when I got there an hour later. 100% great experience with the Fort Atkinson location!!!
Joe LAlways a great experience at this location. It is a little expensive but I would rather rent vs. asking for help. Lol. The staff is always amazing and the equipment is always in great shape. Thank you!

THOMAS CWe rented a 6' x 12' trailer which was well built and easy to use. It needed sweeping out when we opened it up. Rental process was fairly easy however upon our return during off hours the app didn't work to process the return. Staff were helpful and pleasant to work with. I would recommend this location.

DARRELL CI get that it’s how it’s been done forever, but at what point does a truck get a full tank of gas? To me, it makes sense to start it with a full tank and people fill it back up to full after use. A truck with a 1/4 tank of gas will never have enough gas and will always be filled to a 1/4. Also, I’ve never did the whole truck thing before, my dad always took care of it. I don’t move very often either. I was unable to figure out the lock on my own and asked if I could have help- which is what I asked for before I even went out to the truck. Not everyone is a pro at truck knowledge and heavy duty stuff like that. I’ve never driven a vehicle larger than an SUV. Moving is stressful enough. And then I had to wash my gloves after opening the truck as they reeked of gasoline
Sharon LThe facility at Fort Atkinson, WI is the nicest storage facility I have ever seen. It was immaculately clean inside. The restroom was extremely clean. The staff member on duty on October 18, 2023 around noon, was friendly and extremely helpful. Overall, my move in experience was top notch.

David MAfter loading into the storage unit we discovered that we had misplaced the keys for the lock that was provided, I called and Dylan was very courteous and went to check the truck we had returned and found a set of keys on the ground which he tested and they were ours. He then held the keys until we could pick them up, which when I did he was very polite and friendly.

The hand truck and blankets take up too much space( especially if you don’t need them. Always have to pack around it. It’s an inconvenience. General manager could be nicer.

Dani D | First ImpressionsThe customer service rep made my reservation and assured me of check in that evening. When I attempted to check in online it wouldn't let me without me paying for the first month. The gm had his phone number on the door and after over an hour on and off the phone with customer service, I called it. He seemed annoyed by my call and very matter of fact, just shy of abrasive. I explained I'd have no one to help me unload the truck if I couldn't get in that evening and this was of little concern to him. I was a little caught off guard considering the guy in Osage beach and everyone but two people I spoke to at go U-Haul was understanding and did what they could to be helpful. (I had required roadside twice in 24 hours and sat on roadside for extended period of time so I probably spoke to customer service, reservations, and roadside 15-20x in 36 hours) When I came in the following day he was at the counter helping someone else and a different employee helped me. As soon as I told the guy my name the gm left the counter out a side door and I never saw him again the entire time I was checking in or emptying the truck out. I would have thought he would have wanted to make sure I was taken care of or everything went smooth after the previous conversation, but he never introduced himself or anything. Disappointing. Even if he couldn't help the night before you'd think he'd want to make sure things were good that day or apologize, something. Especially when he knew what a struggle it had been getting there. When I returned the truck it was to the guy who checked me in. He was super nice and told me there was no need for me to sweep it out that he would take care of everything. Strawberry blonde haired guy, can't remember his name, very nice. He answered all my questions and was very professional.
MEGAN K | First ImpressionsThe first truck given, was one i had two wks ago, the brakes were still grinding so loud it felt unsafe to drive. I requested a different truck. I got a different one. I made it 10 miles and had to turn around, cancel my plans for the day, the front right side was wobbling, shaking, and could be felt in the gas peddle. The tire pressure light came on, it felt very unsafe. I had this truck a month ago and reported it then. Very disappointed in this experience and for not being reimbursed.
Michelle EThe original location, Whitewater, for drop off was not set up to receive any U-Haul trucks. Not sure why that location was scheduled.
Bradley HI dropped the trailer at around 5:20pm Sunday, just after they closed, but on the day the contract specified. I did all the parking and un-hooking. Called the next day to ensure they found it okay and they charged me an “off hours fee” and “blankets not folded fee”. Staff said there’s “Nothing they can do.” to back out the charges. These kind of charges were never discussed with us at pickup. I’ve rented tons of u-hauls over decades but never been treated this poorly or unsympathetically. I’ll look for other options next time, and will never return to Ft. Atkinson u-haul.

STEPHEN T | First ImpressionsU-Haul does not honor its contracts and will charge you excess after the transaction is complete. I reserved a truck in Lake Mills, Wisconsin in order to move items to Madison, Wisconsin. After reserving my truck in Lake Mills, I received a call about 45 minutes later, telling me that I would have to travel to Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, in the opposite direction of Madison, to pick up the truck. I said I did not want to pay the excess mileage between Lake Mills and Fort Atkinson, and was told that extra mileage would be waived. When I picked up the truck in Fort Atkinson, the attendant tried to charge me for the mileage between Fort Atkinson and Madison. I explained what happened about the original reservation and U-Haul changing my pickup location, but he claimed to have no notes regarding the matter. Eventually he modified the contract to reflect the mileage between Lake Mills and Madison. I authorized that charge. I returned the truck 75 minutes before it was due. About 15 minutes later, I received a notification that my credit card was charged again by U-Haul. I called immediately and was told that was for the excess mileage (to and from Lake Mills to Fort Atkinson). I asked for a refund and still await a response.
Vince GI'd give a higher rating but the fact that I get two texts every few hours to rate my experience less than 24 hours after I signed the rental agreement make me wonder why you want my rating so quickly. Couple that with the fact that when I originally talked with the General Manager, Devon, he seemed like I was putting him out by asking if he had a 10'x15' unit available.

Karla K | Overall ExperienceThe General Manager, Devon, was dishonest and did not communicate with us what he was doing with the charges. We challenged him and did the math for him and he sat at the desk and said he would adjust the charges, never apologizing or thanking us. We have watched our credit card and he did NOT take the charges off as we said he was doing. He stole money from us and from other people in our small town he is doing this alot and people are taking business elsewhere. YOu need to investigate these charges with him and he is not doing his job and is not honest. This is a sad situation going on here! Don't trust what he tells you, take this seriously if you want your business to survive! We are doing you a favor by telling you this and filling our your surveys. It is all over the community Facebook page about others being ripped off by him.

My wife and I have lived at the same address for over 25 years and are not moving. I rented the trailer and storage unit to clean out my mothers house since she moved into a nursing home. I understand that you probably have people skip on the ill, but I also would think you'd rather have someone with a connection to the stuff in the unit, not some friend that doesn't really care about my stuff in the unit. I don't like giving out information for friends and relatives becuse it will invariably be used for marketing, junk calls, emails, texts, etc. My wife is the one you should talk to if you can't reach me for some reason, and that should be good enough.
