cheryl brunsonFirst of all the scheduling in the app showed me an availability of the reserved truck closer to my location, so I booked this truck on the closest location possible. After a while I received a phone call the truck will only be available on another location of around 16 miles away from the location I chose. So I canceled the reservation. A little later I tried again and went through the same procedure again but I didn’t cancel the reservation because I needed the truck so I drove all the way to the location early in the morning and picked up an low to no fuel truck. The truck was in rough shape (especially the engine made some weird noise) but it did its job.

My trip was one way move car tow dolly straps were all tangled up and I was unable to get the straps untangled at 3 am called roadside assistance at waited until 6 am for repair man to come out to untangled car tow dolly straps causing me to delay my trip across 3 states very disappointed I was quoted 1 price for all equipment and upon arrival in new state I was charged a different price than originally quoted which was higher than quoted unacceptable I feel like this was a bait and switch I do t think I will use Uhaul again for future moves

Septimus MincyMake sure your associates are not on their cell phones taking care of personal business when they are on the clock. The associate who checked me in at the initial transaction seemed like she did not want to be at work, and seemed irritated when any questions were asked about rates and charges. Returning equipment back to UHAUL was a better experience and the associate even said "thank you and have a nice day". Much better than her counterpart who checked me out earlier that day.
Aletha RussellRuth helped me alot Ruth was excellent.. as for the store they send me a email said I was late on returning and that wasn't true. I got the haul at 730am and returned it at 10am same day. The girl told me to leave key in it and they would Check it in. They didn't do the next day I talked to Ruth and she called the store and they told her they forgot to check it in so they were doing it at 8am the next day. I was mad they trying to extra money from me and it was the people that worked there fault.

taure tasonMy opinion of the hampton location is muted not by the personel that I interacted with as the two young women I dealt with were very helpful. my suto transport was "buried" behind a broken unit that couldnt be moved so myself and the two young women rotated my unit auto transport so I could hook it up to my truck. This after a male worker came over to give us information on the broken equipment. Without any help yo resolve the situation.

Alonzo GulifordBetter or just communication period between the pick up location & drop off location because when I got to the drop off location [after 6+ hours of non-stop driving] to unhitch my trailer & get my car off of it, I was told that they were not accepting any trailers and sent me somewhere else. This sent my stress level out the roof. I came here knowing very little about this town, I was tired, discombobulated & now confused. I survived and got over it. Thank you U-HAUL.
Donna WalkerFor the entire trip from Fla to VA, I did not have any issues with the trailer. After unloading the trailer at my home, I began traveling to the drop-off location, upon entering the entering the interstate on-ramp, the trailer came off of the hitch causing the trailer to turn. From there, the truck went on two wheels and almost flipped. Fortunately, there was not accident. When I exited the truck, I discovered the screw hitch was all the way in the up (unlocked position) I believe this was caused by continually bumping up and down on the trailer screw hitch, becoming detached as I departed my (downhill) driveway. My original drop off location was 2K Automotive, 7706 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, VA 23607. When I arrived to the address, i found an empty gated parking lot. From there, I contacted the a Uhaul operator to change the drop-off location.

Lawrence CarrThe Customer Service Representative didn’t explain the terms of the contract for local or one way moves neither did the rep explain about returning the equipment to the same place. I was overcharged for mileage and returning the truck to a different U Haul location. I’m out $ 300.00 extra than what I was supposed to have paid. That is bad business practices and the customer service reps should explain everything to avoid confusion and overcharging.

Shatia Thames | Overall ExperienceI don't like being lied to as a paying customer, the only reason I rented a Uhaul truck is because of the price. They say that your credit card is not kept on file, it was charged anyway and this caused a red mark on my credit, I had mentioned that to the manager and he really didn't seem to care about that. The only person that helped me was the nice young lady that works there, the manager is more concerned about making money instead of helping out a customer. My biggest concern is that the security guard at the Walmart store in the parking lot across from the storage area was keeping an eye on things at the time of my wife and kids were loading the truck, no Uhaul employees checking in on the customers safety and well being while on the property. Then you have strange people walking up to you. Asking you for help and they're not part of your family, Anybody from the street can walk in there and not be stopped, No one closes the garage door they leave it open... Not a safe place to be and there is minimal light outside. If I could give you zero stars I would.

No one called me back so when I called back the unit I originally was told I would get was given to someone else. So I now have this tiny unit where all my stuff barely fits but I got it in there. Then I was told to do the online check in so that a lock could be placed in my unit orior to move in … no lock was in the unit. The next day I called about the lock they placed the lock on my unit and then could not find the keys. Not a horrible experience but definitely could have been better. Not 100% unsatisfied but not 100% happy either. Nonetheless I have moved that’s the most important part

With rental trucks taking up most of the area it was tight to back the trailer up to the loading dock. Not impossible but tight. Everything else was great! Having moving dollies was a life saver!!!

Uhaul charged me on the 28th, I said I was unaware of this and I told the lady she never said anything about coming in to cancel, I was busy at work and frustrated and I was hung up on, the lady told the manager I was screaming and cussing I was not. I went up there the manager, in from of the customers is accusing me of cussing when I didn’t. Employees will say anything to make themselves right. The manager was rude. I just want my money refunded.

Loved that I could sign up online and cancel online as well whenever I needed. The staff that helped me at different times during my use here was always friendly and helpful! Loved that the storages were mostly indoor because it felt safer to be there and just felt my stuff was safer there as well!

The measurements of door width and turn corners should be advised. I specifically asked both the phone representative and the location representative about the needed measurements, which they assured the facility can accommodate. This was untrue. I found a facility that can accommodate my belongings at a more reasonable fee.

After noticing the problem, I notified management and asked for a refund because of the condition of the units. They cancelled my units, kept my money and rented my unit to someone else all in the same day! Stay away from this place. There are definitely better, cleaner and cheaper options close by…inspect and check on other options first! lesson learned!!

Your store clerk told me it’s like a doctor appointment if you don’t show up it’s cancelled. Not like a doctor appointment they don’t make u pay before your appointment . I paid and they gave my storage away and I had to keep my stuff in a truck over night till I got a storage. Totally unacceptable

Only one at a time can load or unload and some units are quite a ways from the overhead door so it takes a while. It's very crowded in the back lot with trucks, not much room to turn around and back to the door.

I had paid extra for a ground floor unit. Luckily Brandy, found me another ground unit. But, it was $30 extra a month because it was a slightly bigger unit. - The loading dock to the building where my unit was located was blocked by other U-Haul parked trucks and a personal vehicle. When I called the office to rectify the situation they said “someone will be by to move the trucks. We were at the facility unloading stuff into the storage unit for easily two hours and no one ever came to move the trucks. We were pressed for time, so we proceeded to load and unload from a further point instead. I believe U-haul owes me some discount on the room I was forced to take instead.

I have noticed that some of my boxes appeared to have a small hole that appears as if something could have bitten through them; they weren’t that way when I packed them up. I didn’t open the boxes yet to make sure there were no mice droppings.

I was very upset I had a 20 ft truck a trailer and a SUV were was I supposed to put my stuff the young lady that was helping was very overwhelmed the Uhaul Place was extremely busy so another young lady came to help me. When I was making my reservation I told the lady that I needed the biggest unit because I told her what all I had, I ended up with a unit that I couldn’t fit all my belongings and ended up putting the rest of my belongings in my niece garage because by this time the office was closed so I had nowhere to put my stuff. When I turned in the Uhaul the next day I was told that I went over 14 miles well the reason for is because I had nowhere to put my belongings so I had to store them in her garage the plan was to leave the truck there at the Uhaul place needless to say I was not happy with my experience and also when we went to pick up the truck in North Carolina we were sent to the wrong address my experience was not at all the greatest. Hopefully I would here from someone.

Although the staff was helpful, providing false information isn’t acceptable. I said I would recommend someone else to UHAUL because I did get a polite staff, but again, they should be truthful on what can actually fit into a storage. If they are not sure then they should say so, and tell the customer that they recommend them to see it.

We made it halfway through North Carolina before getting answered. The girl on the phone was beyond rude and short about helping. We finally get there and she tells me that they're closed I ask how I can sign in online and she just repeats that they're closed and she can't help me at all. It was 7:03. I asked where I was gonna put a huge truck, moving from Florida to Virginia and she shrugged at me. The next day was no better trying to get checked in. Same girl. Same bad attitude. Whoever called later to resolve an issue was much better but we're never using uhaul to move again after this experience.

My sister was able to cancel and close the account, whose name was not on the account at all, and nobody even called me to see if I wanted it closed- glad she wasn't somebody's vindictive ex or stalker! This facility is not at all secure.

Whether it’s dealing with customer service over the phone, or directly with the facility, Uhaul maintains a consistent level of abysmal customer service. If I can help it, I will never use uhaul again for anything and I will make sure that any of my Sailors that work for me or with me, follow the same suit.

We live in California so I was forced to rent the unit for 14 consecutive months because Hampton did not reopen their campus. Month after month I asked the staff if there were any discounts being offered and was always told no. In light of all of the COVID restrictions and where we live it would have been nice if there was a discount offered.

The doors for the 8x10 units are too small, large furniture would be difficult to fit in. The entrance into the units are fairly hidden so we had to ask where the entrance was. There was one or two helpful workers there that got us the help we needed. The ceiling on the inside looked like it was falling apart

The difficulty is in the design --- narrow labyrinthine hallways, low ceilings, limited access points, lack of carts, lack of elevators or lifts to the split-level units -- which made this facility very unwelcoming. I took one look at the unit and said "forget it." Went around the corner to Extra Space Storage and got something much more acceptable.

Although the facility was mostly clean and the staff was helpful, the set up of the facility is very poor. The limited number of access points, the narrow passageways, The small doors, the low ceiling, and the stairs required to climb make this a very undesirable storage facility. I decided immediately to go find a different facility. I would not recommend this one to anyone.

I waited almost a year and then had to send a friend who lives locally to pick them up for me. The lack of communication regarding the keys was not what should have happened. Every time I called, someone who tell me that the keys haven't been mailed because they were waiting on people's updated addresses so all the keys could be mailed at once. To me, that doesn't make any sense. They could have mailed in batches. Aside from that experience, the storage experience was good.
