Overall a really good experience. The employee who assisted me, when picking up the truck was extremely helpful. Called a number of other dealers trying to secure a dolley as one was not available. Very much appreciated even though I was unable to obtain one. Very good employee!!Sharon W.

Waited to long to pickup key. Women at the location eventually came but said the location doesn't open until 10am however website/app mentions 9am. She wasn't very customer service friendly. There were 2 other families that had the same issue as us. The sign on the door told us to call the storage place number and no one picked up. Left a message and never received a response. Also questioning the cleanliness and how often you're taking care of vans. Steering wheel was sticky and clock was off by 2 hours. I'm in the market for a long term storage solution and this experience completely turned me off.Brad D.

Inside of the truck was disgusting. Nothing was cleaned. Dog hair all over both seats. French fries and other food bits on the floor. Drink holders we sticky. Not a covid friendly situation.MORGAN T.
When I picked the van up, the inside was filthy. Dash was dirty, it was muddy, and had garbage from the last person. When I dropped it off, I was asked via online portal, if the van was clean enough for the next person. I selected â€œnoâ€, as it was dirty but in the same condition I received. I was then billed an extra $25+tax for a mess i didn't make. Very disappointed with this, during a pandemic the vehicles should be cleaned between EVERY use, for safeties sake. It's very misleading to advertise $19.95 for in town trips, then charge over $100 by padding with these â€œfeesâ€. Won't be using U-haul again.Laurel B.

The lady who rented me the truck was really pleasant. Since the truck had come in the night before, she noted that it was quite muddy in the cabin and she hadn't had a chance to clean it so she would give me a discount when I returned it, which seemed fair. the shop was closed when i returned, so I just did the key drop. The rental was for my mom and when she was in the neighbourhood on Monday and dropped in to pay on her credit card and ask about the discount. The attendant (not sure if same one) wasn't friendly and brushed it off. the invoice came through with no discount. Unfortunate experience after a good start.Paul S.

The entire uhaul experience was terrible. I went from booking a truck 30 days in advance, being assured it would be available at my designated pickup location, finding out 2 days before that the truck would not be available and would have to travel 1.5hrs out of my way to get it (my expense for fuel and mileage). No moving blankets (as ordered at this location) and left to fend for myself. Then to pickup truck after hours, have the reservation get cancelled, find the truck in an unlighted pitch black parking lot, searching for an identification code on the truck with little to no instruction to "WHERE" this code is located to hunting for the lock box to get the key, again no lighting. Finally getting in the truck to travel for 1.5 hrs back to my previous home to finding just a quarter tank of fuel. The term of rental was supposed to be from Oct. 1st to Oct. 3rd to have it changed to same day rental, to get an early phone call to rush to return due to other customer needing truck....this experience just goes on and on. Staff answering the phone have limited understanding of a complete customer experience so would say the process is very weak and not well understood. Maybe someone should develop a move plan process for clients moving (in my case one way) and also set the right expectations.Thomas S.

App seriously didn't do me any favours, except for the actual booking online a week before hand. Ended up having to go into the store to confirm the reservation and get the key. Wasted precious time on moving day. Same thing, when I went tot drop off the key in the box, it said login to the app before dropping key, so I did...another ten or more minutes wasted and I gave up because despite having all setting accurate in my phone, the app could not locate me. So the transaction would have been that much better if I hadn't had the app not working....and it turns out the entire process still occurred, even with out the app, hmm?Michelle B.

The location was fine and the staff there was good and friendly. The truck I received for my rental was not suitable. I had a over 500 mile one way trip and the truck was old and ran rough. It should not have been deployed for such a rental. In addition the truck was dirty inside and had been previously heavily smoked in. Lastly upon picking up the truck it only had 1/4 tank of fuel. This has never happened to me on any previous rentals. It was very in convenient to have to get gas immediately after pick up.Richard M.

The location customer service was the only helpful experience about booking a Uhaul. They were empathetic and did everything they could to help the disgusting mess that is Uhaul. It started with our booking of a 15 foot truck, which was confirmed and GUARANTEED by email from Uhaul the night before, was not available when I showed up to pick it up in the Port Hope location. The service rep in Port Hope was very empathetic and tried everything in her power to help. I had to call into Uhaul customer service, the number the app provided me if I had any issues. The representative I spoke with was terrible. He was rude, short with me and basically said I was shit out of luck and could try a new reservation. Then said he could do nothing for me as that was not his job to find me a new truck, again I had been guaranteed a truck the day before. He then transferred me to someone else, who was much more pleasant but also could not assist me....meaning he sent me to the wrong location further wasting my time. The final lady was more helpful and found me a 26 foot truck in Cobourg and provided me 80 credit KM, which was useless as I already had 500 km far more than I needed. So this trip to Cobourg cost me time and far more money in fuel. Then I needed to take a 26 foot truck rather than the 15 foot truck I needed all the way to Ottawa for my move, which was DRAMATICALLY more in gas and cost me $150 more in gas than I anticipated with my smaller truck. To add insult to injury, the truck was filthy. It had rocks, newspapers, trash and even children's underpants littered everywhere, which I have photos of all the disgusting mess that I needed to clean. Even though I would have been charged a $25 fee for leaving it a mess. I was not reimbursed $25 for cleaning someone else's trash. This was a TERRIBLE experience and very similar to the horrible customer service I received last month when I booked a u-haul for the first half of our move. I was not going to book u-haul again, but thought perhaps it was a one off experience and I had had good experiences years ago when I used u-haul. I can not stress enough that the customer service at the physical location in both port hope and Cobourg was great. The ladies were respectful, supportive and tried to help but have limited ability to fix a situation when there are no trucks. This was a trash service that cost me exceeding amounts of money and time that I did not have to spare during a massive move. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had with a company. The 1-800-GO-U-Haul service line needs a massive correction and training in customer service.Chantal J.

The truck I reserved was to be 15', but the truck I received at pickup was 12' . I had reserved two dollies, but was told at the location that they don't provide dollies. This resulted in a scramble to find dollies on a Saturday morning in a small town. Some further communication/ coordination between location and customer or location and company is suggested.ADAM P.

Trailer was the oldest I've seen...rusted dirty, colours faded, some lights not functional and you can see daylight around inside front where rain can leak into unit. Should have been repaired years ago. So nothing else for me to use. So I did. Plugged daylight and everything arrived safely even after going through an 8 hour down pour of rain.Stephen B.
